I believe the x’s in the uncorrected proofs are just stand in text for something that’s yet to be confirmed. Publishers do this all the time in manuscripts with things like page numbers on contents pages where the information is likely to change.
I went to my local book store after watching your videos and found some really nice books. I've had my HP collection since the first movie was released in 2001 (all soft cover). But now 17 years later I am going to acquire myself a hardcover set thanks to your videos. I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel Peter. Your love for the HP series is very infectious. I found the hardcover house editions and the hardcover editions by Jonny Duddle. I also found some of the illustrated books (which I wish were all available)!

I’m not sure why I never jumped into the fantastic story that is of Harry Potter. I have spent the summer reading through the novels (currently on Order of the Phoenix) and this has easily climbed to the top of my favorite series of all time list. You’re videos are fantastic! Love your collection!
Surviving quarantine 2020 by watching all your videos! My favorite book I’ve owned was a Canadian copy of Goblet of Fire when my family sailed to Victoria BC at 12 years old (31 now). No idea what the printing was or anything, the memories from that trip are tired to that book.
I dig up some research and the Filipino edition is one of the rarest translations of all time. Sorcerer's Stone is the only book translated. According to a Reddit user, only 3000 were printed and short number of copies, like the one you have, were existed today with the highest price. Sadly, the other 6 titles were never planned since the translator supposedly have all the series and didn't happen at all.
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I absolutely love your channel! I love harry potter so so so much and seeing your collection really makes me happy ( and slightly jealous). now i want to start collecting too, though probably in the future. Such interesting facts! I didn’t know of the initial place holder in the uncorrected. Also about the handling of books without gloves. So much goes into the publishing process. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book of the series. I’m jealous that you have that dust jacket!

I totally forgot about the translation of HP1 to bable. Luckily I think I found a copy since I need it now O_o I just collect copies of HP1 in as many different languages as I can since that's the sense I wanted to give to my collection and I think two of my favourite ones are the one in classic Greek, since it reminds me of when I studied Latin and Greek back in the High School, and the one in Japanese illustrated by an artist that I can't remember right now, since it reminds me of a Japanese friend that had to go to work overseas. Anyway, I must say that I'm quite happy every single time I see you talking about your books. You show a kind of love for them that it's quite hard to find here in Spain. I must say I find a lot of your videos quite inspiring. As I said in a comment before, if you need something from Spain that I can help you with (trying to get a first edition of Emece, an audiobook or anything you might need in your collection) just tell me. I'm trying to get Narcissa's, Cho's and Greyback's in Ollivander's edition. Those are the only three ones I need to close that part of my collection right now. I found a guy here in Spain that was selling Narcissa's but he suddenly disappeared and we couldn't even close the deal xD
When I worked as an editor, we used X's and Lorem Ipsum as placeholders. Either the information was not available or they didn't want the information to leak. I never worked in an English-speaking country but I guess it is the same...
I've got a 1997 I think it's a first edition but 3rd printing as the first number is 3 through to 10, it's an unread hardback...I've got a few more, 8 in total, I'll have a look and let you know, kind regards from Scotland Uk

A couple years go I bought the box set that makes up hogwarts on the spin. Everything was fine until chapter 15. The chapter goes up to page 300 then cuts back to page 269. Then continues to page 300 then cuts to page 349. I do believe it is the only page mistakes in the book. Since I own a box set of the old us covers I just read the rest of that book, so I never checked for other printing errors

hope you are still monitoring comments on old videos! I started reading my wife's HP books to my kids, which she says she's read. In goblet of fire, 2nd print edition I believe (begins with 20 rather than 10), there is a section of the book which is missing. Page 50 jumps to page 83, page 83 then progresses normally for 30 pages before jumping back to page 83 to continue the rest of the book. I saw a listing on ebay for a book that repeats chapter 25 / 26 consecutively over and over. the asking price of $9,999 tells me i should look into my copy further. :-) Would you know anyone I could talk to for more info or have you ever seen anything like this before in Harry Potter books?

I just ordered the 15th anniversary paperback box set. I haven't received it yet. I saw some complaints about the pages being out of order. Has anyone had this problem or was your's fine. I guess when I get it in , I will check each page.
I would be so happy forever if I even had just one of those books it would be so cool. However I don't think I would ever be able to own one of those books sadly because I just don't have that type of money. To even own a page if one of those books that is just so sad. I would die from happiness if I ever got one of those books or someone gave me one.
Keeping them out of sunlight, low humidity. Unfortunately it is inevitable that there will be some yellowing, especially with the books that have less quality paper.

I have always been a collector of things I love (beanie babies, pokemon cards, etc) So when my grandma gave me Sorcerer's Stone when I was 12, and I fell in love with it, it was natural I would eventually start collecting. :) Seeing the Italian translation cover and then learning about other translations inspired me to collect translations.
Can you please explain how to identify the second print run copies. I might have one, but have no way of knowing. Also, I can't seem to find how to identify the second printing anywhere on the internet. Please help me out here.

Yes, it's dangerous. You may also think you have a grip on the book and then it could slide out of your hands with gloves on.
