A prejudice in favour of male offspring is still widespread, especially in the less-developed countries of the world.
Another ancient, ignorant, belief is that the wife is 'to blame' for failing to produce male offspring (ignorant, as of course the gender of a baby is determined exclusively by the father).
I'm sure I've seen stories, including out of Africa, of wives being abandoned for this reason, especially under pressure from the husband's family.
Or maybe there were rumours and gossip about his wife's mother having 'cheated'. It didn't bother him, until he started hearing similar gossip (including from his own family) about his own wife, once the daughters were born with blue eyes?
Both explanations would be more consistent with the husband having accepted his blue-eyed wife, but abandoning her after two blue-eyed daughters, than any explanation based on 'blue eyes = witchcraft' types of superstitions.

Africans are the most diverse so called racial group on the face of the Earth. According to science.... The Human geno of the very first modern human mutated so much that humans are the only species of so called animals that can't mix with other breeds like other primates. So race doesn't really exist... humans are humans according to science.

People would be aware of another man with blue eyes in the village and would put 2 and 2 together. But there’s no mention of anyone else, she seems to be an anomaly for people. Blue eyes can also happen because of mutations, I don’t know however if that can be passed down to her children as a dominant gene if that makes sense. But very very very doubtful that this woman slept with another blue eyed black man, especially since her range of travel probably wouldn’t be that far with only buses and walking, no chance there’s be someone else that close to her.
