    Chelsie you would have no problems in the army,they are all there for the same purpose,they love and respect excellence,they look for it, and you have it and very sociable too,if you can pass fitness and shoot straight you are a guaranteed good medic career soldier, major at least with 12 years service ❤️👍🇬🇧

    Quite interesting seeing the differences from one military to another. I’m in the reserves as well - however US Navy Reserves. Not only being a U.S./U.K. difference but also a Navy/Army difference as well.
    Being stationed in Cambridgeshire for a short NATO tour gave a bit of insight to the UK military, but have to say y’all really have a professional outlook as well. For the video, I don’t quite understand your acronyms but still understand the similarities between a U.S. monthly drill weekend (Saturday and Sunday 0700-approximately 1800) vs Tuesday evenings, but could not agree more with your assessment on being committed. I am so interested in these differences yet similarities. I would love to hear more about that one day if you ever get around to it in greater detail.
    Cheers from Tampa Florida USA

    Oh, I'm glad I found your video. I have some questions about the military. I'm writing a novel about a French soldier. So let's see...A. would an 18-year-old cadet start his army life at boot camp or military school? B. what age must you retire from the military? C. can a military dad live in a house with a son, while still serving in the army of his country? What would that lifestyle be like? These are the only questions I have so far, but I'll probably come up with more.

      Depends on your qualifications and what trade you want , reserves are very different to the regular army , your best bet is to visit an afco don’t just make a application through capita they are useless , speak to a serving regular soldier in the field you are interested in who’s been in a good few years

    Surely the stamping of feet and saluting is a little old fashioned,why is this still important? Surely an army that is modernizing should abandon redundant old habits? Stomping feet and saluting is s little 19th century, just a thought ❤️🇬🇧👍

    • @dernwine
      @dernwine 2 года назад +1

      It isn't really redundant, especially in training. Drill is designed to foster cohesion and group identity, within recruits (As Chelsie said it's on of those "Oh right I'm actually in the army" moments). Once you are out of training drill becomes less important but still remains something that you need to be able to do, as your unit will have regular anniversaries, parades, and celebrations that will require you to act as a formed body of men, both in and out of the public eye. (Battle anniversaries will often open with a bit of drill, as will CO's addresses and Rememberance Day Parades. Examples of more public facing drill might include exercising the freedom of a town, or a home coming parade after a tour). All these are important for fostering a sense of identity and belonging that, even in a modern army, helps increase the combat effectiveness of the unit. Then you have drill on Tour, yes, on Operations you sometimes have to preform drill, and perceptions do matter when you are working alongside allied forces, you definitely don't want to look like unorganized crap in those situations.
      Saluting is just good manners, though how often you salute and how rigid your salutes are tends to be situation and unit dependent.

    • @hazelscarlett7299
      @hazelscarlett7299 3 года назад

      I’m ex regular. In basic training no makeup unless it can’t be seen as they will spot it and expose you in front of everyone, also it will run down your face due to sweat or water 😂 Try clear mascara and a little lip Vaseline if you want something ..not that you will have time to put it on 😬
      But once you go to a unit or phase 2 I found there less strict and intense. I used to wear non clumpy mascara and a really discreet concealer under my eyes with discreet lip gloss. If your mad about having your eyebrows always done just get them micro-bladed so there permanent. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Great that you're so enthusiastic. But there's a considerable difference between the Reserves and the Regular Army. So it's curious that Reservist thinks she can advise others about the Army in general.

    I have a question. Is the British army still pissed off about the U.S. Army for fighting against the British army in a quest of independence committing insurrection, treason and killing thousands of British troops decreasing British army numbers very majorly?
