Yo. If you want to make a stock Civic sound good shorten/lengthen two of the exhaust manifold headers at a muffler/metal shop and it will sound much deeper and less raspy.
I found lowering springs and front control arms and even coil overs on wish for this car definitely look for some you could get a pair for cheap my dude

I have a DNA catback on my 17 Corolla iM, super cheap but honestly sounds decent! Had some fitment issues, needed to relocate one hangar to stop it from rubbing against the body, and the tip has gotten some spotty rust after a little while. But it's only a temporary install, worth every penny ;)

That car is incredibly corrosion free. Out here the cars disintegrate from all the salt brine spread during winter. Hey so...I would recommend waiting about two weeks driving the car to let the insulation set on our excess burn off. You said it looks like your car is burning oil, unless your dipstick agrees outs possible it's smoke from a brand new exhaust system. Especially "budget friendly" mufflers tend to shed and burn in for a while emitting smoke during a break in period.
My first car was an 84 Honda Civic with the Hondamatic transmission - that thing went everywhere. Then moved to a 89 CRX which was a lot of fun on the coquihalla.
These catbacks are often longer, as they are supposed to fit the sedan (longer back) models aswell. Its like a customer service ... you can cut stuff out and dont have to weld stuff in :)

Lolled9991 that does not make any Sense dude the intake is not in any direct contact with the exhaust. The reason it works is because when cutting the ignition fuel gets into the headers and exhaust and by turning ignition on you ignite it

A car with a full aftermarket exhaust system isn't stock, especially not one with a 5inch back box, they've ruined it with that alone it just looks stupid, there's no need for that big an exhaust on a n/a car, they're probably losing power in fact.
After the rear muffler of my 3cly VW Fox snapped off, it sounded amazing and i kinda miss it :D It was just sounding like a tractor if you drive below 2000 rpm and insanely loud because i changed the resonator before and since it was dirt cheap, it was practically straight piped :D
Got obx headers to a magniflow high flow cat, mid pipe has a bottle style 3 inch vibrant resonator exiting to twin isr 3 inch blast pipes. I love quality exhaust systems
it's even cheaper to build an exhaust if you wel it up yourself, i made a 3 inch straightpipe for my boosted hyundai excel and it cost me all of 70 bucks, the most expensive part was the cannon tip i brought used for $50

The exhaust is popping because the pressures in your cylinders are now not even due to the larger diameter exhaust. You need a tuned header to equalize the pressure. You engine is likely robbed of horsepower now and is probably being damaged.
Maybe wish ended up selling it because it was labeled wrong? It looked more like a header back exhaust with how much pipe was included and how much the muffler stuck out

You can get it to pop if you downshift aggressively when coming to a stop. That's how I would get mine to do it consistently. Good job guys 😎👍

I stayed committed, also, try Krown penetrant spray, it's like their T40 but it'll lube the most stubborn bolts, we use it on the farm all the time

The smoke from the exhaust might also be part burning off particles inside the new exhaust
