But not surprisingly, the Book of Mormon's integrity, reliability, and authenticity are increasingly under attack-even by members of the Church.

Thank you for presenting this in such a clear and easy to understand way. The worst attacks on the church in the Book of Mormon and church history come from people inside our church. And if we believe Isaiah’s end time vision it’s happening again in our day.

Oh, that's so cool you mentioned the connection that Nephi saw the destruction before Christ's coming. I made that connection for the first time a few days ago.
I have felt some of the same concerns about the dialogue that is sneaking into the church from some who are using their scholarly knowledge to expound what they think are helpful insights. Instead, they are aiding Satan's efforts to teach subtle untruths that destroy faith and confuse people. When that happens, I always feel the Holy Ghost helping me discern truth from error. I felt His confirming spirit in your message today. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Your efforts are not in vain!
What we are hearing from "good and faithful" "upstanding scholars of the church" is unbelievable!!! Dragging the character of the prophets through the mud, and with them what they stood for! I feel sorry for those attacking the book of Mormon. Nephi showed over and over again his forgiveness and love for is brothers and his father. As of the war chapters it was the laminites and apostate Nephites that commited Genocide. The book of Mormon is truely the greatest book, and the word of God. It sickens me that members of the church can say such abominable things. It is very sad and heartbreaking.

When people are promoting these kinds of ideas that you give examples of, it is clear that they are not reading the scriptures carefully, if at all.
We're seeing the same lies play out on the world stage. Hamas attacks and kills innocent men, women and little children, but what does the Adversary do? He flips the script and says it's Israel that is committing genocide. Same tactics different time. 😢
Time stamp 9:34. - A general in a war committing genocide? Sorry, that is a disgusting and repulsive description of Mormon! Repent Fiona! Mormon and Moroni both saw Jesus Christ. Does anyone think Hitler was visited by the Savior? The tares are showing themselves.

I had a bizarre encounter with the head of Faith Matters a few years ago and your words today are shedding light on what really happened then. You and I met at a picnic table at David's event last summer. You are among the most inspired of Saints I have ever met. Thank you for your boldness in proclaiming the Truth who is Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Hannah! Seems to me that with the recent emphasis on avoiding contention, we are in a dangerous and vulnerable position that welcomes false philosophies to easily enter into our community, church, families, etc.
The guidance to avoid contention is inspired, but the risk is that it is implemented the wrong way. The easy and wrong way to implement the guidance to avoid contention is to be silent, stand by, and passively watch false philosophies take over.
The correct and more difficult way of avoiding contention is to learn how to boldly declare the truth in love and humility.

Remember on Harold B. Lee's general conference talk in 1971, The Iron Rod, when he said that a liberal in the church doesn't have a testimony.
When I hear Hannah Stoddard share quotes from these wolf-in-sheeps-clothing members I can't help but to remember Harold B. Lee's words.
Amazing work! My thought when you mention those willing to distort the divine nature of the Book of Mormon is that they are the Tares currently growning among the Wheat. They will be plucked. As a family we commonly remind each other to “Be Wheat”

The Book of Mormon is THE most true Book of our day. I am not aware of the actual number of times I've read this book, (somewhere close to 55 times or more), however I can tell you each time I open the book and read, I receive revelation, very clear and vivid dreams, answers to questions that I forgot I had as a younger person, my life is manageable for I have faith over fear. Every single answer to my crazy life has been shown to me in the Book of Mormon. I can not deny what the Spirit gives me in the teachings and life stories of those brave people. It is my favorite book ever written and read!

People with this belief need to stop and beg their Father not to subject them to the things Nephi and Mormon fought against. We all need to because this belief is insanely prideful and I hope we aren’t all condemned for allowing it to not be challenged.

Yes! A sister argued this SAME "progressive Nephi" in our Sunday school lesson and people agreed! Even I was apprehensive to disagree with her because it's logical, in the understanding of man. I love The Doctrines of Salvation. It's my favorite firehose to drink from. Like a dog drinking from a hose, I can only catch part of it each time but like the scriptures, that part changes as study continues.
The problem with a lot of scholars in the church is that they think that their scholarship trumps revelation and their intellect is greater than the mantle.
Very well said. Don't trust in the arm of flesh. Let the holy ghost mentor us, not the "experts". If we do, our logic will be sound. Our wisdom will be true. But keep the "impressions of the spirit" in check thru constant study of the scriptures, all of them, not just parts.
Also, thanks for bringing the real world into your presentation. You're doing a great job applying the gospel to our lives, making the gospel relevant. If the gospel can't help us fix our real world problems, what can!

BTW... I love Joseph Fielding Smith... he is a definite favorite in my house. As for those who are "elect" and thwarting God's work, whoooaah, I feel bad for them. Brother and Sister Bushman are the Patriarchs for their stake! 🥺 Brother and Sister Givens, maybe they are gaining popularity of the world, but they're losing respect from many of us who know the truth, they're losing blessings from the Lord and altogether, they're on the losing side if they do not stop now and repent. People like the Bushman’s and the Givens are from the group that believe in a Teddy Bear Jesus. They ignore justice and push mercy. They are swayed by the teachings of this world, and shy away from truth and accountability because they believe that teaching true principles and requiring accountability is not Christlike love. It may make people feel uncomfortable or ashamed or guilty. That is the purpose of truth. Just like Nephi said: “And it came to pass that I said unto them that I knew that I had spoken hard things against the wicked, according to the truth; and the righteous have I justified, and testified that they should be lifted up at the last day; wherefore, the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center.” Our job isn’t to speak softly and tiptoe around the truth or, as Mrs. Givens said, “…so once you put all of these things together THEN FOR ME ANYWAY it sort of broadens the whole horizon, it broadens the perspective and HELPS ME FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE …”. I submit that interpreting doctrinal truth so that one can feel more comfortable is not where our Heavenly Father stands on how we are to receive His word and obey it! No one and I repeat no one should listen to or purchase one sentence written by this apostate thinking. Listen to and follow our apostolic and prophetic leaders and study the doctrine of Christ as taught in the standard works. Confirm those things in prayer and don’t deviate from them and you will find joy and peace! This is my testimony!

I think intentionally misinterpreting the Scriptures is just as, if not more so destructive to the human soul just has if you were to making it all up. Or rewrite scriptures to what you feel is more palatable, or to take things out and put something else in because it’s more politically correct. This book is meant to be a warning to all of us for the things that we are now in our very day experiencing and living through. It disgusts me that our people in our own religion that are intentionally misconstruing things and twisting and manipulating things because it’s more palatable for them. Life is hard, it’s just the way it is, And none of us are going to be exempt from it. Jesus Christ our Savior was not exempt from the hardships of life, and he was perfect. What makes us think that we are so special that we don’t have trials and tribulations because of this world of fallen man.
You are a light for truth and strength. Thank you for your time to share your light and testimony of the Book of Mormon!

I have always felt that 2 Nephi 26:6-7 is talking about the sealed portion of the Gold Plates and not The Book of Mormon itself. Several things give this away in the verse, it says it is sealed and it will tell everything that happened from the beginning to the end.
Hannah: You are correct! All of the Book of Mormon together does that. The 1/3 we have gets us started and the remaining + Book of Lehi will give us the rest. We'll receive the rest when we have used and applied what we were already given and are prepared for more. Sorry if that was confusing in context!

These appear to be progressive scholars who interpret everything through their distorted philosophical lens. Their progressivism seems to make them so ashamed of the Book of Mormon that they seek to assuage their feelings at the expense of holy writ. Unfortunately, the same dark and misty view that they apply to Nephi, Mormon, etc. can be equally used against all Scripture, against all prophets and all religion. If Nephi and Mormon are unjustified manipulators, what of Joshua and the Children of Israel or even the New Testament Gospel writers or Christ Himself in His condemnation of the Pharisees? This "criticism" strikes at the very foundation of the Restoration, turning it from a marvelous work and a wonder to a flawed and sinister manipulation of men. In this view, even the Angel Moroni becomes suspect because he helped produce, delivered, and endorsed the Nephite record as the Word of God delivered through holy prophets, especially including his own father.
This progressive path ultimately leads away from God and the Tree of Life and directly into the great and spacious building of those who are learned and think they know of themselves.
I view these "scholars" as modern day sheep in wolves clothing. We are witnessing the mystery of iniquity, the forces of apostasy witnessed by Paul play out before our eyes. Satan is mightily striving to drag us back into the benighted days of the Great Apostasy. From such turn away and seek to receive personal revelation to defeat these assassins of the soul.
I have read the Book of Mormon many times, not only it makes me a better person, it fulfills prophecies given to us by prophets ( Ezra Taft Benson - if it is read daily it will help you use your day more effectively) and in my patriatcal blessing also. I believe prophets back then and now are human but when our Heavenly Father accepts their writings He is putting His stamp of approval on what is written. I know this is true.

I have been warning them that the very elect will try to deceive them. The sad part it will probably be a professor who preaches false doctrine and then testifies of its truth. Oh, dude! I love the book Doctrines of Salvation! Because of that book, i realized that the only way for me to go was a temple marriage. I learned that divorce is damnation and avoided the pitfalls that plague my extended family. Plus the idea that creatures were brought here by resurrected parent stock is an awesome concept and gives a way out of Darwinian evolution. I got great ideas from the likes of Fielding Smith and the early Prophets and apostles of this dispensation.

I really appreciate your testimony and the message shred. I teach Gospel Doctrine in my ward, and this made me as two questions about myself:
1 Am I teaching truth as it is taught in the Book of Mormon and inspired by heaven and confirmed by the Holy Ghost?
2 If I hear false doctrine (especially at church) will I be able to recognize it and be strong enough to call it out and fight against it?
Thank you for your words of courage that we can learn the truth and stand up for it with the help of Heaven. Miracles can and do happen!

These people are truly misguided to say the least. But I do have a comment about our modern day prophets. Health? The only recommendation they gave on health that was right, was to get one’s own revelation on it. Their encouragement they give on getting personal revelation is spot on

I have just recently discovered your channel. I find it very interesting. I admire you for having the courage to put your beliefs out in the open in spite of the fact that it has caused you and your family to be criticized. Upon your recommendation, I bought "Doctrines of Salvation." It has all 3 volumes in it. I began reading it today. I am a fundamentalist in general, i.e. in my outlook on, and my approach to, life. So it is that I find myself attracted to the fundamentals of the gospel, or more accurately, the restored gospel. I think that's why your channel has caught my attention.

It is interesting to hear different people's opinions, including yours, after all the lord did command Nephi to commit murder. I see many scriptures that conflict, such as Jacob and his issues with King David and his many wives and concubines, yet they were given to him by Nathan the prophet. and later Joseph was commanded to take plural wives... we don't know the lords' ways. we have had some of our latter-day leaders who have caused the deaths of some of our youth simply by condemning porn and masturbation so hard that some of our youth have felt they will never be able to overcome this that they take their own lives. we don't blame the leaders, they were just doing what they felt was right for the time and days they were called to serve in. Truth is things as they ARE and WERE and ARE TO BE D&C 93. Keep up the good work. it's interesting to view how some feel we need to CLING to the IRON ROD. Some hug it like their life depends on it, others just hang on with one hand, others, just walk next to it and grab it if they need help and others tie a rope or bungee cord to it so they can go help thoes who are out in the weeds like ME...
Nephi says this about his record:
5 And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to the plainness of the truth; wherefore, no man will be angry at the words which I have written save he shall be of the spirit of the devil. (2Ne33)
Some of those trying to change the narratives sounded pretty angry at the account Nephi gave of his experiences.
Before people bag out on Nephi read '1 Nephi 3 And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge.' Third verse and Nephi tells the reader this is my account of my life. The way I experienced it. He knows that it is true or he has a testimony of his experiences. He can only use words to describe it. Words can be interpreted differently depending on bias. The reader needs the spirit because understanding of scripture can only be through the spirit. I love Nephi he's a great prophet.
Jared Halvorsen on his recent Come Follow Me commentary talked about Jacob suffering from mental health issues, likely anxiety and scrupulosity...😮 What are the implications for anything Jacob says if he is taking things way too seriously...
Mrs. Bushman said Nephi manipulated the record like every writer. So, that includes her husband? What kind of worldview do you need to have to think that every writer is manipulating things? That is a fairly foolish view.
And to think that her husband, Richard Bushman was a bishop, stake president and a patriarch.
I'm sad I'm just now getting to this video. I've seen Terryl and Nathaniel Givens around the LDS podcast world. The videos I watched were about a different (less abrasive) topic but I remember hearing their ideas and feeling something off about them. I've since come to realize that what they promote is based on critical premises, as most academic theories are. They are trying to bridge the gap between The Book of Mormon and the fallen world by the theories of men, presumably to make it more attractive to those who view things critically and have had issues with their faith because of the complexities of the church. It seems like an apologetic approach to appeal to the other side, and like usual, these kinds of "defenses" of The Book of Mormon are prone to false and speculative theories that wind up undermining the book and the entire faith it carries. These theories make the ground mentioned in the parable of the sower weedy and overcrowded, so much that when the seed of the word is planted, it is choked out by everything around it.

Wow! Didn't know these false articles and ridiculous opinions were being shared from inside the faith. Throwing shade on ancient prophets or current prophets looks like the path to apostasy to me. That's a no fly zone. Nephi was a prophet of God. Period. Mormon was a prophet of God. Period. President Nelson is a Prophet of God. Period. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Meanwhile, the Lord brought the OG Temple of this dispensation back into His Church! Hold to the Rod friends.

The content creator has zero ability to do that on RUclips. Sadly, because I t's RUclips's platform they determine all that.

It was also promoted as an "aid" for the 2020 Come Follow Me study of the Book of Mormon. The context was material being promoted as faithful and supportive of the Church, not anti.

You mention genocide…The Nephites were at war with those that started it and their lives were threaten. It was either them or their enemy. The Nephites did not want war, but to save themselves, their wives, children and liberty they had to fight for it. That lady and I believe you are actually saying Captain Moroni and his army were war criminals as you put. I feel you got it wrong. The Lamanites were committing genocide against the Nephites.
