How a masterbuilt is made? Take a random strat, upgrade the electronics, take it out back behind the factory and bash it on some rocks and pavement. Profit 1000%

Or, you could just buy a guitar you can afford, and play the hell out of it for years.

I love the feel, the sound and playability of these guitars, but I'll never understand the relic finish. Play the he'll out of it and wear the finish off yourself

Dear Mr. Ferrari and Mr. Porsche, I would love for you to build me a super car but could you make it look like it’s about 50 years old and dented and rusty. I’ll pay twice the cost .

It's a dream of mine to order a Fender Custom Shop guitar through your guitar shop. The relic-work on that Strat is the best I've ever seen, but most importantly, that Strat sounds amazing.

I have been playing guitar for 62 years. My first real (?) guitar was a 1954 Strat, (S/N 00249), May 6, 1954. I have had many guitars. I prefer them as close to new as possible. I have never understood the need to build a new guitar to look as if it played every bar for 50 years and then was dragged down a gravel road. I have a nephew who bought a '97 strat that had dog bite marks on it. At least, the marks were genuine. Why would anyone pay all that money to fake the genuine marks?

It’s funny... if you come across an actual 1963 Strat that looks like that, it’s called “player grade” and only worth a fraction of a mint, unmolested original example, but if you order a new Strat from the Custom Shop, you have to pay thousands extra to make it look player grade a.k.a. relic-ed. Very odd.

Probably the most beautiful "relic" guitar I've seen. And the vintage tone is sooo pleasant to the ear. Cheers for the wonderful demo!😊

I first learned about the "Relic'ing" back in 99 from an article on Fender Custom Shop Master builder named Vincent Cunetto. I had to have one ! I purchased my dream Strat in 2001 a 1956 "Mary Kaye" Relic in Vintage blonde and still own it. 10/56 V-neck and swamp ash body-Fat 50's Pups and Gold Hdwr too.

Baxter, it's impressive how you guys curate the process of ordering a custom built guitar, which looks like a lot of fun for customers. I live in Florida, but when I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Custom Shop order, or even just on a high end guitar, I'm calling you guys. Best wishes for your outstanding shop.
