That is an awesome story I think about this Emmitt till sometimes I’m glad his mama had that open casket. Thompson is very cool him and the other guy that do true they bring up different things about how things were how things are things have gotten better through the south and also good food.
I'm an early 50s Deadhead, who saw around 300 Grateful Dead shows & 100+ JGB shows in the late 80s & 90s, so obviously Wright Thompson is my favorite current writer. He's without question one of the best writers on the planet, he's willing to be brutally honest with the facts... but imo he doesn't do it gratuitously for shock value. Can't wait to read the new one
I love Wright Thompson‘s work, but his legitimizing LeBron James as some sort of social or thought leader is borderline cringe. There’s a lot about American history that is a lot more complexed and nuanced than is often framed to fit a certain narrative and ideology.
Lebron has done a lot to help his community, his community being Akron. He's done way more than the average rich dude, most hoard/miser it away. He's gone out of his way to hire & run some of his businesses outta Akron & he pays for an entire grade school for under privileged/at risk kids. If that's not trying to help socially & putting his money where his mouth is, I don't know what is. You kno it is possible to dislike someone but still admit when they've done something good
@@nolongerblocked6210I don’t deny any of that. Lebron, in my view, has also been a divisive and opportunistic voice on political/social issues. He’ll speak on things that are safe and popular over social media, but when it comes to other issues, (poverty, gang/inner city violence, fatherless/broken homes/ lawlessness, DIDDY etc.) he’ll typically remain quiet and non committal. I don’t think he’ll ever lend his voice to issues that will not ultimately benefit himself or his brand. People compare him to Muhammad Ali, which is honestly troubling. Ali was the heavyweight champion of the world, smack dab in his young prime, and sacrificed his entire career and financial livelihood to stand up for his belief against the war. Do you honestly believe LeBron would sacrifice his career and his livelihood for issues he professes to stand for? I’m not saying he’s an evil person, but I think he comes across self-serving and phony.
welp it doesn’t take long to recognize that Dan Patrick knows nothing about this story. At all. Great job Dan, way to do your research, similar to how he watches zero football film at all. Just lazy and entitled
Of course Dan had to slip that in at the end, “we have a streak of every time he comes on we make his book a New York Times Bestseller.” The arrogance of this fool
This is not to diminish the horrible death of Emmett Till…..but for Wright barns are now a conduit for racism. I appreciate his heart, but get a grip Wright.
At 7minutes: “wow. I’ve done a lot of interviews but have never been asked that question.” Good Lord please people, for the love of God, don’t inflate Dan Patrick’s ego any more than it already is. He is lazy and delusional and entitled. Does no homework on any of the subjects he talks about, yet he thinks he knows better than Tom Brady about QB development. We gotta collectively hold these talking heads to a higher standard
Could listen to Wright Thompson all day!
As soon as the interview started, I ordered my book
Thank you. Extraordinary interview
DP is the best of the best. Always asking questions people never see coming.

2 Greats talking !
Not sure I'd align my cause with George Floyd
To Kill a Mockingbird again?
This intro is the worst of all intros. And Dan Patrick is the most delusional entitled analyst of all analysts, except maybe Florio

Dude im over the past. Lets talk about native american wars to say how evil they were. Amd this crap is like roots. Its not helping anymore.
WOKE
The foot pounds of grift the Emmett Till story has managed over the years is unbelievable.
Seen the new Trump watches? The Victory editions go for $100,000. How long do you think they'll work? 100 days?
Die hard MAGA Dan to woke Dan?
When was Dan about MAGA? He seems too smart for that.
Idk who is less likable in this interview..this guy may be worse than Dan somehow
Really? You wrote a book about that?
