- Here's how I ended up fixing my #Finestra #HNT miner when I noticed that it kept going down. I just recently did the announce that I upgraded the antenna, but then the next couple of days I noticed it was offline and no longer syncing with the blockchain.
After looking online I found others having the same issue and in the comments the same thing kept popping up about changing out the SD cards. This was unrelated to the antenna upgrade.
You can use these SD Cards:

Just be really careful if you decide to do this on your own and make sure it's unplugged before you open it up and before you try to insert or remove the SD card since it has the OS on it.
This just happens to be what ended up working for me but when I tried another SD card and even the USB drive, it still locked up again after about a day or so. I'm not sure if this is because it's getting stuck downloading some part of the chain that the slower drives can't handle but after putting in the A2 rated card it just worked again. Even the A1 card gave me some issues.
I hope this helps someone else having the same issue. If you have the balls to do this on your own you will also be voiding any warranty by opening it up so please note that as well.

You'd think Finestra would just send over the A2 cards with the unit considering you're paying 1K for a pi 4 4gb and not even the pi 4 8GB!

great video my finestra is giving constant re-boots. might stay green for like 5 to 10 minuets then would re-boot again. Odd thing is that it was still connecting to the helium network and acting normally, except for the time im missing from the constant re-boots. hoping that copying to a new card will help. got the sandisk extreme A2 160mb sec wish me luck
i’ve noticed my miner has been getting more rewards since changed the card. i’m wondering if it’s just processing the blocks faster now or just because its been online more constant than before? not sure but will look more into it

Hey thanks for the video! I put a drill bit in my finestra. Replaced the pi unfortunately it was in December last year. I’ve been thinking about trying to use a usb for more memory. Basically just wanna upgrade it, have you had any luck?
yes, putting in the new card worked wonders and CalChip sent me a new power cable without me even asking for one. They stated that the older cable was giving people issues so they replaced it with a more robust one free of charge. It was working great for a while, However, with these recent updates constantly making my miner go down every week or so it seems, I'm about to put a drill bit through mine too. Haven't even been able to make any incentives in about a month now. Where at least before I was making pennies.

Flashed a 128 V2 and holy crap it stays connected and doesn’t go to blue light.
Finestra dashboard via IP address was extremely helpful and hadn’t seen that before… now my concern:
My miner connected synced and challenged ASAP in the past. Ever since I’ve logged onto the dashboard I’m noticing sync status goes from 100% to 99.99% and will sometimes say Helium block height “undefined” everything has been online constantly but I haven’t been challenged and I’ve earned zero point zero HNT. There are plenty of hotspots around me. Any ideas?
how long have you waited? sometimes it takes a little longer than expected. also did see a post in the discord that lately theres been an issue they found on hnt they are working on, not sure if related.
Hi, Thanks for the upload. I just downloaded rufus 3.17.1846 (Portable) but I don't have the save option. Is there any other way that I can save it?
the save option is the little floppy disk icon, if you still have trouble post a screen shot in my discord so i can help
The Finestra's Raspberry runs on a Unix system, how can I perform a proper shutdown on it? There is nothing to find in the manual. The shutdown protects the file system from damage.
you can generally just unplug it and it will reset back to where it left off.
Helpful video, the problem with my Finestra is that it's getting relayed, but the ports are open and show no data on the SD card. Will try and swipe the SD card tonight. Would a 64GB card be enough?
Yea, 64 and 128gb are both going to work. I wouldn’t worry as much about being related as long as ports are open and is able to properly talk on the network back and forth. Also, Did you make sure to port fwd udp port 1680 too?

why wont the finestra ui work on mine? I put in the ip address followed by :8080
make sure you're on the same network as the device you're tying to log in on and also make sure you reboot the miner just in case something needs to reset.

My Finestra miner is 100% syned but peer to peer connections has no inbound? How to fix that?
make sure your ports are fwded correctly in your router. if you are still stuck feel free to share some settings in my discord and i can try to help
looks like my options are different...Multiple partitions on card...which option to select when for boot partition...and no save icon
Now says file size excceed limit allowed when trying to save lol
If you are using Rufus and you follow my steps it will Save all the partitions for you in the image file then when you write them to new sd it should have the partitions all there. If you are just trying to copy the image to your drive and it’s failing, make sure you have more than 64gb on that drive for you to fit the file. @@TheDro Thanks for the video. I ended up using the balena software. Testing a usb drive replacing the SD card. Will see how long it lasts this time lol. If you havent linked your video to reddit, you need to! I was looking for this solution for the past 3 weeks. My highest money maker was down at a host location.

Where do you get the latest firmware updates?
you don’t actually have to update it but if you just need a new copy and you own a finestra, you may be able to get a copy by contacting them. may i ask if you lost yours or what actually happened that you need to update? usually everything is just synched automatically on these. never had to do a manual update.
I am not able to connect. I’ve had this for a month and it continues to say needs attention and relayed so I’m at wits end right now and trying everything possible
Also my inbound and outbound are checked green but the blockchain sync says 0%

@@TheDro hey bro I’m having issue.. I flashed with a new os., I was even able to get it on the Bluetooth and put it on the wifi, and see it on the network.. but still blue light.. and not coming online, am I missing something?
@@WassupFred sometimes u gotta wait a day or so to see its back online. they changed the way the finestra talks to the chain nowadays so look at moken.io first to see if it shows up there. Mine has been constantly down as well. helium/hnt fuggin sukkkkcccssss
@@TheDro ughhh bro, honestly, this has been the worst miner EVER! it was a simple task.. they made it complicated only to abandon it 🤦♂️. I’ve used dam near every one, they have little issues here and there but they are like 95% better then these.. maybe I need to test the pie? I’ve heard of the ram going out.. how can I test that?

This miner is terrible. I returned mine. Get a different model folks.
I don't think the miner is the issue, i think it's the way the blockchain is interacting with the devices that was causing the issues to pop up. Remember, this is all new tech, it's all still being developed and we are the guinea pigs helping build this network. After my updates to the card I haven't had issues with it going down since. I will post an update if that changes!
