    Fun thing about werewolf/vampire folklore in Slavic legends is that if a werewolf dies without special ritual (such as beheading), he would return to life as a vampire

    Read a meme post the other day where DM told the PCs they see a warehouse.
    Pc ask if that is like a type of werewolf that turns into a house.
    DM starts writing stats down and says "it is now"

    Since I have my own pantheon, I'd probably homebrew that Lycanthropy is a Weird Magic Hag curse that can't be removed by conventional magic. Only a hag coven or an Archfey can remove it.

      I mean, you do get emus in the bits of Australia that have forests, but mostly because you get emus *everywhere* in Australia. They're mostly optimised for scrubland and deserts. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/Dromaius_novaehollandiae_map_distribution_2.svg What emus are really, really good at is running away very fast in straight lines, which is not a fantastic survival strategy in a tiger-style jungle. They're also basically feathery camels when it comes to water retention, which is not really a jungle-environment survival strategy.
      The Emu War of 1932 is what happens when the entire party has cursed dice for a whole session and never rolls anything above a seven for four straight hours.

    • @Thedungeoncast
      @Thedungeoncast  7 лет назад +6

      Danielle Clarke oh wow i didnt realize they were more optimized for desert/scrubland! I've always seen them depicted in their forest habitat.

      Cassowaries are tropical relatives that actually propagate the environment around them by acting as vehicles for the fruits they eat.
      Idea for druid or ranger pet.
      Also they are way more terrifying and aggressive.

    So Matt Mercer created a class that one of the subclasses is a lycanthrope. The Bloodhunter subclass can enter a hybrid form and use a special claw attack. It pretty cool, well balanced, and bad ass.

    Hi guys, just wanted to add that the Werewolves vs Vampires properly comes from WhiteWolf's World of darkness where they have been fighting each others since the 80'ies along with other creatures of horror. Its also the RPG which inspired the Underworld series and its a great source of inspiration if you are looking for a horror themed RPG.

    The only way I allow a cure for a curse like lycanthropy is a wish spell, at least in my campaign. There are other spells that are basically a miracle spell. Also I have suggested the affected PC could hunt and kill the beast that cursed him.

    made a homebrew variation on the Owlbear (giving them the ability to glide) made a Shadowfell, and Feywilds Variation (Shadowfell being stealthy and essentially more bulky, Fey being more ranged Ambush hunters) and then got bored and made all 3 as a lycanthrope variation (very fun to muck around with)

    Perhaps batman and the joker are the perfect combo because bats are dark and scary while clowns are fun and cheerful. Bats are also silent and are shrouded by the the night while clowns like to stand out with bright make-up and excessive laughter.

    On a different note, the 'were'(wer) in werewolf is an original English word from long ago. It is the original word for 'male human'. The word 'man' originally only referred to humanity and the word 'wife' originally meant 'female human'. Funny enough, an Anglo-Saxon would refer to a female werewolf as a wifewolf instead. And incase it wasn't clear, they didn't use special words to refer to your spouse. Your husband was your wer, and your wife was your wife.

    Didnt Abbot and Costello start the vampire vs werewolf trope.
    Homebrew: Cleric must be 3 levels higher than the lycanthrope to remove curse and the lycanthrope must fail saving throw; unless the lycanthrope has embraced the disease than remove curse will not work

    What I recall it implied Remus' son inherited both parents traits and they complimented each other in some way that made a super magical ability. Like, he had some of the lycanthropy but his mother was a polymorph so he wasn't so much cursed as magically enhanced. I don't recall it being implicit how it worked in the books but I haven't read the latest book so not sure.

    I am writing a book where in the future, after the fall of civilization following a second American civil war, an alien invasion, and a new ice age, basically its revealed that mystical forces exist in the world. It centers around Upstate New York, which during the civil war becomes a state called North Sylvania and eventually its own kingdom. Wendigoes and other supernatural creatures exist, but were creatures exist most prominently. Eventually, everyone in the known world gets turned into some kind of were creature. The known world is upstate New York to southern Georgia along the Appalachian mountains. Northerners become werewolves, southerners become werecats and westerners (ohio) become werebears. It gets to the point where the human form is lost altogether, but people can still shapeshift to near-human forms. The way it ends up working is some loose civilizations based around type of were creature and geographic location. If you get bitten by a werecat , say and you are a werewolf, you would then turn into a werecat. Said rule applies universally. So basically the east coast of the US becomes a fantasy world full of people who don’t recognize each other as the same species and want to rip one another a new one.

    if you dont think lycontropes have to be evil, do you think eating human is not evil ?

    • @enceladusorchestra2565
      @enceladusorchestra2565 7 лет назад +2

      briankool1 I would argue the act of eating a living person is inherently evil in most circumstances and it appears some lycanthropy causes those infected to crave it. I would say that those who choose to isolate themselves do so to help ward off their evil impulses caused by the curse and are essentially removing themselves from temptation. This implies a good nature.

    • @Thedungeoncast
      @Thedungeoncast  7 лет назад +2

      I think the curse of Evil Lycanthropy is evil, but the person cursed has to choose to either resist or embrace the curse. Thus, they can choose to be and do evil or not. But yes, the devouring of human flesh by werewolves is evil.

    Level 5 cleric should be able to heal werewolf. Here is why
    It's their two.
    1st-Levels 1 to 4: Local Heroes.
    2nd-5 to 10: Heroes of the Realm.
    3rd-11 to 17: Masters of the Realm.
    4th-17 to 20: Masters of the World
    Level 5 is a hero of the realm their may only be a handful of them. In the realm. I understand the remove curse is bull
    But would it not be batterbto just have it require a rare material component. That needs to be found turn it in to a quest. U can do the same for the immunity. Instead make it a quest they need to go on a quest to get immunity to turn at will. Maybe the temple of sulune know away to imbrace werewolfism with out chance ur enlightment.

    I have to completely disagree with the whole werewolf lord/alpha stat block thing personally. For me, if you did have one of them for werewolves, then it'd just make them more like vampires. I like how werewolves are just on their own, there's no leader, it makes them different and, for me, far more interesting since you can focus on the werewolf itself, rather than put all your attention on some... bigger werewolf.
