Paul I recommend getting live plants instead of plastic. I used anachris when my guppies had babies and it worked great. Also, don’t forget to change the water frequently
I should go for Javamos. It's a better hiding spot for the fry.
you are right live plants are better becuase they provide the micro foods that babies need when they are first born.
Dutch Viewer NL yes javamoss was actually what I intended to get but the only pet store near me that sold javamoss was way expensive for me so I ended up getting anachris bunches. It worked but would have worked better with javamoss. 🐟

Live plants are overrated
With guppy’s you need to have double the females because when there pregnant the males try to make babies with them when there already pregnant .

C K if you look closely at the bag, you can see that there is a lot more females than males. Even though he said 6 and 6.
@@johna9530 there is exactly 6 of each in the bag. some of those males were just washed out. every female in that bag was on the verge of dropping.
its a common misconception that males will harrass females to breed. guppies can have multiple litters of a single breeding so a male would still have to wait. the point of ratios is to control which male breeds. paul is simply breeding for babies to feed to fish so having equal amounts are fine.

I would add some type of beneficial bacteria 🦠 so u don’t have an ammonia spike because it’s a new tank set up or add some media from an old tank just my opinion

He has well water
I believe the filter he uses has been through a cycle as he didnt buy a new on so if has been kept properly there will be benificial bacteria on the filter already which will make the cycling a lot easier.
I bet this RUclipsr who has the same fish in multiple aquariums knows jack shit about maintaining an aquarium
he also just dumped the store water into the tank. he also needs gravel so the good bacteria for breaking down poo can grow somewhere

Make a mini pond similar to the one at your parents house just for guppies (love your vids) inspired me so much

@@kv4n he lives in florida, a tropic area, they are guppies, a tropic fish
zackanator4 Florida is a long way from being like the Amazon River. If he lives in extreme South Florida some might survive but nighttime in the winters will be rough on them. Many will probably die.
@@kv4n he obviously wont keep them out during winter, have you never seen what he does to prepare for winter? We works really hard non-stop as fast as possible so that everything survives winter

Have a little aquascape pond like the one at your parents house, and that’s where you could put the guppies

@@bacon6496 their perfectly fine. The parents sadly died but I got 7 males and 3 females and trying to get them to breed but I dont thing anything going on. I have the females in tank with a male and the other 6 males in a tank

Im starting easy with a 55 gallon tank with 12 goldfish but thanks to you I found my inner fish lover and I absolutely love it! Its all thanks to you man! They don't fight the just bug the females to death
Paul you may want to pic your 2 favorite males and take the others back. Or you could feed them to the turtles. 🙂 That's an idea on what to do with the babies too.

@@Someone-qk7fc If there was one female and two males he'd have a problem. I can't imagine he'll have that problem. The fish will most likely die though because the tank wasn't cycled. The ammonia will spike fast after he feeds them a few times and it'll kill them or cause irreparable damage.

He has pre Cycled the water from his well because it doesn’t use chlorine and second he probably just trusts the fish store he with that since he’s been going there for a very long time.

Hornwort is a good live plant to have for the babys and will spread! Is also amazing in ponds so could put some in the ponds when you get to much of it😊

The last tank I had was a guppy tank that accidentally became a breeding tank lol
So glad you went for guppies mate! They are really cool! its just a shame you did not go for a pure strain. Breeding guppies and especially their genetics may actually be much more difficult than just trowing bunch into the tank ;) I would've even send you some of my pure strains... Anyway, love your vids, keep them commin'!

No i have both my male and female guppy in one tank and they made babies really soon🤷🏻♀️
I’ve been breeding guppies for awhile now and would like to suggest that possibly adding live plants to the tank such as anachris would be beneficial. It is a very easy plant to grow and I honestly feel like the amount of fry that survive doubles because they are able to hide in it.
Give the guppies away as prizes. Love your videos even though I’m old enough to be your mother. Keep up the wonderful work.

Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of a sponge filter Paul - my local aquarium runs over 100 tank all off sponge filters .. their fish are amazing

I got guppies and they decided to breed. I'm getting another tank for the babies in case there's no room in the original tank. Whenever I see a video I can somehow relate to. It becomes all the more exciting to watch.

For someone who has a whole channel on fish keeping, you don’t seem to know a whole lot of information about fish. Common knowledge about keeping guppies is that you need 2x the amount of females to males......

I hope it will be heated if it's outdoors. Guppies are tropical fish, they can't survive cold weather. They need a water temperature at least a MINIMUM of 68 degrees. Even 68 isn't ideal for them. Better 75-80 degrees.
I find it funny that there's people with negative comments about Paul's videos & they continue to keep watching. He's living his life while enjoying his pets & sharing videos. People always have something negative to say when their jealous. You keep doing you Paul. I enjoy watching.

PC family, I need some help. I've never kept platties or mollies before. So basically I'm curious how many I can healthily fit in my 55 gallon aquarium without it being overstocked. I was thinking like 15-20? I have a 75 gallon filter on it as it used to be a cichlid tank. Thanks for the help

I agree. Not only will all these problems either stress or kill his fish but of the water is too cold they’ll be too stressed to even have babies which defeats the entire purpose of the tank anyway.

I had guppies when I was a kid. I kept them in a fish bowl with no heater and they bred like rabbits!!! I had to take the babies out and put them in their own bowl. Finally, after a year or two, I had so many guppies, I had to give them back to the pet store!
I don't have a heater and yet I got a bunch of babies. So yeah and they are doing fine
