Phil, I absolutely adore you and your channel. “This is from me to you”, “For alllll to enjoy!”-these are examples of why I watch your channel almost daily. You knock my stress way down. I am entertained. I learn something about which I know nothing but find fascinating; and you so beautifully reveal the hidden treasure of wood! Thanks so much for helping get me through the pandemic! I’m hooked!
Wow, how kind of you, Julia! I just feel like we are all gathered around the lathe shooting the breeze. I'm glad you are comfortable here with the rest of us! 😊
Don't ever 2nd guess yourself Phil. You have excellent instincts when it comes to wood. That mushrooms is just the most cutest - beautiful- gorgeous mushrooms I've ever laid my eyes 👀 on. I love the bark and the grain of the wood. And once again I so wish we had touch - a vision. Great job artist. Lol
Good evening, Phil. A bowl it is. Excellent project and shape. Hey, the next mushroom can be a vase. Put the two of them up for auction and the one that gets the highest bid, wins. Thanks for bring us into your shop.
I like it best as a bowl and I bet most people would like it as a bowl. I think it's one of the prettiest bowls I have seen in a while. Of course, you know I love the bark. My three favorite turners on You-Tube are you, Gary, and Gord.
That is a perfect bowl for Cream of Mushroom soup. I really like that shape and how the bark appears layered. I think most of us would agree that you ARE an artist; you're just too modest to admit it. I love your explanations and thoughts while turning a piece. It's educational and entertaining.
My wife and I agree; that bowl is beautiful, and would work as a candy dish. The other idea I have, is if you had hollowed it out, it could be a pencil holder for an office desk.
Make it into a house for Snow White and the seven dwarfs. A lid can be the roof with a chimney for the handle. Beautiful and it has a gorgeous hue to it.
The mushroom shape is very curvy and cute as a button! I see that piece on a table in the foyer where you put your keys when you walk in the house. Adorable and practical!
I really love your videos Phil. My problem is that .... well ... every project you complete becomes my favourite. Thanks for the teaching, the entertainment and the inspiration!!!
Unusual, lovely bowl. You did right not to make a vase, with both heart and sapwood beautiful in the bowl, and with the contrasting, interesting bark. Great result, Phil.
I've gotta admit Phil it looks a whole lot better on your bench than it did on the wood pile. Thank you for giving us all a different perspective on fire wood. Lol...Hope to see you this COVID19 free summer. Stay safe my friend.
"This is from me to you...." And that my friend is the best description of the appeal, enjoyment, and entertainment you provide to all of us. Another fine project....stay warm and be well Phil.
Really nice, Phil! Thank you for your free gift to us. No ads or obnoxious promotion bits. But, I do watch about half from other creators. Some have a living to make. Gord is a great guy!. Once this pandemic is under control, I'd like to take our daughter to Edmonton. Red Deer, Gord's home city, is only a half-hour detour. I'd really like to meet him, and it's a reasonable hope. Thank you for your video.
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop just got outta work and I'm looking now here to find a log I can "turn" into one of those mushroom bowls..you have such great visions that I try to duplicate..you certainly inspire people to try something different...I'm a big fan! Thank you!..
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil you certainly are a fungi guy and sometimes a funny guy but always an entertaining and informative guy. Really enjoyed your latest creation a diversion from the usual work but none the less beautiful. Thanks Phil 🇺🇲🇺🇲
BOWL PHIL BOWL! LOL Glad you heard me!!!👍 That's ABSOLUTELY beautiful love the different colors of the bark also hope I didn't yell to loud! Happy turning to you Phil 👍
A bowl was a great choice. Very Lovely. It's been cold here in Tucson for the past month; nights in the 30s and days in the 50s. We actually got some snow. It lasted a total of 20 minutes.
Beautiful piece, it’s magical........you are an artist. Art is your vision. Keep creating pieces with your skills. ❤️ everyone is an artist, you have to find your medium.
Really like this mushroom bowl, glad you didn't hollow it out! Keep up the great videos. I am not a wood turner but very much enjoy watching you work. Thanks.
There seems to be a lot of non-turners that enjoy turning videos. Some say it's mesmerizing. In any event, I'm glad you like it, thank you so much, Alan! 😊
I really love the shape and I’m glad you made it a bowl. The bark is particularly stunning. This is one of my favorites. You are definitely a fun, talented and modest guy and still my favorite turner. Best overall video content out there.
Well I for one love the "Bowl" Phil. It was meant to be a bowl for sure. The bark looks fantastic. When i first saw the thumb nail it looked like the Elm bark that I have and gave you a couple pieces of. I think your bark here finishes out better though. Crazy thing is yesterday I turned something very close to this. But I am calling it something besides a mushroom and you will see why next week. But another coinkydink is in my video tomorrow I mention Gord and his little friend. It will be fun...I think! If not I will just make a fool of myself..LOL The Howard finish seemed the best choice for the wood and the bark. Looks fantastic. And the tenon removal as smooth as silk. Great turning and video and a very Fun Guy! Take care my friend, Gary
Thank you, Gary! I think Gord just makes great videos and deserves all the attention we can give him so that's great you are sharing him with your viewers, too! Looking forward to your whatchmacallit. I heard talk, too, of your mini-me debut. I can use a good laugh! See ya, soon! 😊
The wife says, "You know who this guy reminds me of? Burl Ives!" Yes, I can hear the resemblence. LOL Well turned, you artistic Burl Ives of the turning world, you! :-)
Enjoyed the video of you turning a mushroom. Loved it, as always. I must have made dozens of artsy craftsy mushrooms for my Dad during his life. Still collect them on my own and like to eat the real ones.My Dad was a mycologist and he never got that fun guy fungi joke. So glad you do!
I like it, but I think you should have left it without the bowl. That would make a great garden piece with a hide-a-key in the bottom recess. Always love your channel. Very informative, very entertaining. Thx for sharing you love of wood turning.
Hi Phil, works perfect as a bowl and still looks like a mushroom from the side. Beautiful wood. Stay Safe & thanks for sharing. Jules, Droitwich, England
I love this mushroom bowl! I’ve watched many of your great videos and I think the turnings are all beautiful in their own way, but this one is my favorite! Thanks for so unselfishly sharing your talent with us Phil!
great mushroom bowl, and the thought process that goes on in your head is very informative for us beginners. Thanks for your time and sharing your extensive knowledge.
You chose the correct design Phil for that lovely piece. Looking through my snowy Scottish window I can already view even more fire logs heading for the workshop!
It's great, fill with the after eights or equivalent. At the beginning it looked like a giant bottle stopper, then went onto look like a mushroom .It really does look good, well done. How about If you had a glass, ceramic innard something fluid proof and what have you got is a bowl for mushroom soup 😀🥂
My gosh!! How beautiful. It makes a beautiful bowl!! It could also be used as nice round orange candle holder!!!! Oh but yes you are a talented artist!!!!!!
You don't give yourself enough credit for your artistic eye. I enjoy your work but at the end of the day, if you are happy with the piece and it turns out how you imagined.... and it did, then your artistic talent showed through and your skill as both a turner and artist is evident
Billy, I'm just so glad you are getting well! That must have been a real struggle and now you're talking about getting back to the shop! Wonderful! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! 😊
Hello Phil I like your bowl and that you explain what you do and the reason why. I also made some live edge bowls with all the tips and tricks you give and all the things I see you do. Stay safe and keep turning.
Very cool, HB, I appreciate knowing that! I learned to turn by watching many videos. It feels good to know I learned enough to pass on to others. Thank you for letting me know!
You often agonize over what to do with a piece. And yet you always know just what to do. Looks great as always. Feed & Wax and oak seem to compliment each other well. Thank you Phil!
You'll always be a fungi. You know, I'm not usually a fan of objects in the shape of something else, but I like your bowl very much. It is itself. The grain and the shape and the sheen on it are just grand. Thank you to Dennis for sending and to you for sharing and see you again soon.
I love the wood and the shape. It's an interesting bowl. I would have made a lidded box instead but I guess that's my lack of imagination 😅. I might make a mushroom bowl for something different next time. Thanks Phil. Not familiar with Gord Rock so I will check him out.
Great fun watching you work. We have some things in common. I am also very tactile . I liked the way you described how your project felt. I wish I was the artist you are. Just subscribed.
Here is a not really related laugh for you. As kids we learned a two part call and response like Marco-Polo. It was “Hi-lo, Ernie-meanie, Ky-ky, oon-cha-cha, eewawa.” The response was “FUNGI-mungi, chicka-bye-oh, hepta, onika , zonika, yupe tally, YOO-HOO!”. Total nonsense, but absolute fun when yelled out at distance in a public place. Got us laughing every time. Perfect call for a Fungi to teach the grandkids. And fun fungi bowl there, Phil!
Phil, it's one of the loveliest pieces of art that you've achieved. Brilliant. Graham
I'm glad you like it, Graham, thank you! 😊

No mistake hollowing it out. In woodturning there are no mistakes, only design changes. The bark is great, nice wood that White Oak👍
Right on, Ron! I appreciate your support, thank you! 😊

No mistake Phil, it works both artistically and functionally just as it is. Thank you.
Good to know, Paul, thank you! 😊
I really love your videos Phil. My problem is that .... well ... every project you complete becomes my favourite. Thanks for the teaching, the entertainment and the inspiration!!!
😊
No "mistake" but two new good ideas : keeping the bark on and , what was more unexpected , the bowl !
😊
Unusual, lovely bowl. You did right not to make a vase, with both heart and sapwood beautiful in the bowl, and with the contrasting, interesting bark. Great result, Phil.
Thank you very much! 😊
The funky mushroom was great - great color, great bark
😊
It's a pedestal bowl. Nothing wrong with that. It's a great piece, as always, Phil.
Yeah, pedestal bowl, good job, Larry! 😊

"This is from me to you...." And that my friend is the best description of the appeal, enjoyment, and entertainment you provide to all of us. Another fine project....stay warm and be well Phil.
Thank you so much, Doc! 😊
A plain cover completing the natural mushroom cap, with a small frog or dragonfly as the handle would look pretty good, IMHO.
😊
No vase, it’s beautiful the way it is. As alway I enjoy your videos
Thank you Sandra! Cheers! 😊

There's a fungus amoung us. And it's beautiful 🤩. Well done Phil.
Hahaha, good one, Jerry! 😊
Great decision on leaving it a bowl instead of making it a vase. Good work as always Phil. See ya in the next one.
Thanks, Scott! 👍

Great idea, Michael, thank you!
