    Like Madmakam, my wife and I each bought a Nevo as the GX model with Gates belt and Rohloff. After about 6 months use, we each have over 2,000 miles on the bikes and love, love, love them. We find the bikes are very stable, sure-footed and agile at the same time. As I get older, the step-through becomes more and more important. Kudos to Propel for their help in selecting the bikes and supporting us. We typically ride 20-25 miles at a time and still have 3 bars of battery when we are done. We got the Abus chain extension for the frame locks and use them all the time as a short term locking solution for quick visits to a coffee shop or to pop in to a deli to pick up a sandwich.

    I’m a big fan of these Propel videos. The videography and audio are outstanding. Your description of features is crystal clear. I find myself wondering if I could tell/appreciate the quality or ride experience of an ebike in this price category vs my Shimano Steps/SLX commuter that cost so much less. I’m not disputing the quality or features of the R&M. I guess I will have to wait until I can get to Propel in Brooklyn to find out.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 года назад +2

      Thanks!
      The maintenance is pretty minimal. The motor system doesn’t require any specific maintenance so it’s usually just brakes and tires and such. The Rohloff requires an oil change every 3000 miles. The Vario/Enviolo will need some adjustment to the cables at slime point and further down the line 10k+ the belt and cogs will need replacing. The standard touring version will need maintenance on the chain and Cassette more frequently.

    This bike seems almost identical to my Raleigh Redux ie bike with the exception of the addition of suspension front forks, the potential to carry a 2nd battery and the type of drive gear option. Everything else is identical. (Mine has a Kiox Display which is better than the Intuvia) Having owned mine for just over a year, I've put 4000 miles on mine with only one minor issue when the internal battery cable in the frame needed replacing. (Done under warranty) It's a very comfortable bike and capable of 28mph.

      @Propelbikes  4 года назад +2

      Thanks Mark! Much appreciated, I shot Tara in this one or most that you see with Tara in it. I think I want a wider lens to give some more options for the riding shots. Currently shooting with the R and the 35mm RF on the Ronin SC which is light and high quality. I’m hoping I can still balance the new Samyang 14mm F2.8 which just dropped with the native RF mount. It’s a bit heavier but I think we’ll appreciate the ability to do wider shots in the bike lane. What lens are you running when doing rolling shots?

    • @markkohr6078
      @markkohr6078 4 года назад +2

      @@Propelbikes Really nice framing with the gimbal Chris. The shot looks great. Tara is doing such great work. She is an athlete of image-making. The 35mm lens looks great - no distortion. The 14mm will have a bit of a fun house look. Try renting one through sharegrid first and give it a try. I have been shoot with the 35mm Sigma Art lately, but I think I'm going to get a 24mm next so I can shoot better on bike paths too. An 18mm may work. But try the 24mm. Best Regards Chris for a wonderful year ahead.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 года назад

      Great feedback Mark! I really appreciate it. I wish there were more native RF lenses. Trying to keep it very lightweight. The Ronin SC with the 35mm is a great combo, I just wish we could go a little wider. I might need to go with an EF lens with an adapter. I have the adapter already. It would be awesome if the 14mm didn’t have too much distortion, but I know that’s the nature of the wide angle. Maybe I need to wait till it’s available for rent. They just released it last week and I’ve been waiting for it. Next tool is a slider which should be nice for epic beauty shots :)

      I would go for the Superdelite. I would probably go with the standard Superdelite instead of the mountain version since you are doing a lot of on road riding. You could always remove the fenders and swap the tires if you want to convert your bike to the mountain version.

    I had been drooling over the Moustache X-Road 3 step-through, but have been having a hard time in my area finding one in my frame size. But a local shop has made me an offer I have to consider on a R&M Nevo with the Enviolo Automatiq (Nyon display). It's about $2,000 more than I wanted to spend (Canadian pricing here), but it is such a fine bike.
    I have a question about bike racks (two and half years after this video was made...). I think this is too heavy for the racks on a city bus (I live on an island and head to the mainland monthly, the ferry terminal is 33KM away, and the final destination is 49KM inland), but what about most bike racks for cars?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 года назад

      Sorry for the delay. The Rohloff hub has a very wide range of gears and it's all contained so it's low maintenance. The cost is higher because it's much more complex to build, especially with the electronic shifting. The derailleur performs really well off-road as it shifts fast, but the Rohloff is also a great choice for off road.

  • @nickstevens3139
    @nickstevens3139 4 года назад +2

    The Schwalbe Road tyres have awesome roadholding with in built suspension, so why does the bike have a suspension fork? A rigid fork would be simpler, cheaper and lighter.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 года назад +1

      This bike is built to have the best overall performance and I think the suspension fork helps to smooth out the ride and keep the wheel planted on the ground for better handling at higher speeds. The tires help, but they can't soak up the larger imperfections in the road.

    The belt is great, the Enviolo hub lose to much energie. Rather would have a Shimano 8 speed hub. The Rohloff is the best, so is the price. I like a monoshock for the front wheel. Tires are to big for me. If you can chose everything you like, which is practically impossible, I like rim brakes more. I do not have that on my bike, but I no like my disk brakes. They brake fine, but often make noises. All in all the bike looks great. Low step will be the future, I have no doubt about that. The battery in the frame is top. I always should buy a Bosch motor. Does not have to be the most powerful and fast. Even the most simple motor is still a Bosch, great quality. Also the batteries from Bosch are top level. Price Riese & Müller bikes are way to high. Better buy a Dutch or even a French ebike. Quality just as good, price much lower.
