My son is positively religious about his Volvo. He's an antique dealer and uses it a lot for travel and pickup/delivery of furniture, etc. It's surprising what can fit in those things! If Melissa enjoys hers half as much as my son enjoys his, she will love it. Happy trails!

My friend did that too bought a volvo for safety...it caught fire while driving and they got everyone out in time.
My 92 volvo 240 sedan also saved my life and my 88 volvo 240DL saved my best friends life as he was borrowing it for the day (we constantly used each others cars depending on what was running at the moment)
I definitively wouldn't buy a volvo.
Actually let me rephrase, I wouldn't buy a volvo after 2010. They just don't make them like they used to.

I remember getting family cars and being thrilled to be able to flash around town in a sleek new 1959 Chevy Impala...cream color with beautiful fins. What will they remember? Giant roof? Good choice of a car! They are still worth a lot of money over here in Sweden, like the same car 2017 model, with 270 000 km is priced at 115 400 Canadian dollars. They last for a long time, can handle the cold, are comfortable and safe. We had a Volvo V70 at work that was still going with 640000 km runned. This car is pure luxury and we are proud of our Volvos over here. :)
The thing that struck me about all the goodies you showed was how well everything appeared to be taken care of.

Congratulations, Melissa! I just got a "new to me" car after having a van for 10ish years. It's our first car that has any kind of computer tech to it and it's sooooo fun! Way to go Alex! I love seeing you take care of your family!
In High School I learned typing on one of those old Royal typewriters! Talk about building finger strength!!!!
Imagine then, when as a Jr in HS, taking Advanced typing and getting to use an IBM electric Selectric typewriter! A world of difference!! 😉😉

Alexander, I used to have a Toyota Van while stationed in Germany with the big roof opening. We called it the Pope-mobile because we could stand on the back seat and take pictures of castles and buildings as we continued on our way. Loved it!

The kangaroo is probably a bronze casting. An artist creates a figure, usually in wax. Then a liquid is poured over it and hardens. It is then removed and the solidified liquid is used as a mold and molten broze is poured into the created mold, and allowed to set. Then removed, finished and then mounted and signed. Advanced Art students do them as term projects, they can sell for quite a bit, depending.

Please don't make fun of your Ambulance. I owned a 66 Pontiac Bonneville Hearse/Ambulance for 22 years. Some of those years driving it daily. I didn't give a Rats you know what about what people thought . Most people thought it was cool. They'd ask how old was it, how many did they make. It was great. You ever get tired of it let me know. Those autograph books took me back to my school days when your friends would fill them in with witty verses like “Roses are red, violets are blue etc etc”. I also had one that had our teenage idols’ autographs in it. Ah, the memories😌. Glad you got your new car, Melissa. It looks like a super ride. The silver antique looking ring with the adjuster inside could be from AVON. They had that type adjuster in most of their rings and made antique looking rings on the late 70's & 80's.
I had one just like it. Mom sold Avon.
I believe it is Avon. I had one in Jr High. The “hematite” wore off. But, it was cute.
I am pretty sure it is Avon from the '80's.

Looks like it's time for a family trip when the weather is good!
Alex, study that desk and find the "unaccounted for space" that will be a hidden space for valuables. Desks of that era often had such. Like a drawer behind a drawer type of thing.
True on that. I have a desk that my Great Grandmothers. I was cleaning this desk and a Aunt from the other side of my family was with me. She said wait I think I see something. There was a little button at the back. I had never seen. I’ve had this desk for 30 years. When pushed the button opened a hidden compartment. Inside were letters and jewelry that had been hidden there for at least 90 years. After having the jewelry looked at it’s from before the Civil War. We think family members from that time had hidden the items from the Yankees. We are now talking about doing a metal detector reunion to look for items that family lore says where hidden at the destroyed and burned land where our families farm The Rooks/Rockmore Plantation stood before the Yankees invasions of Georgia.

The old newspapers are interesting. My mom had newspapers from WW2 - we framed them and they hang on our basement walls with the rest of our prints. Congratulations on the new car!

That dresser is stunning. Would love to have it, but shipping to Australia might be a bit high :) Though having the roo on the top seems to be an portent of something. Love the banker's desk too. The bureau is gorgeous as well, though I'd prefer a roll top. Ooh ooh, now I'm drooling over the Japanese teapot, even though it's broken.
My 1997 Volvo V70 has lasted 250+ thousand miles. Also has been thru 24 though winters. Body is still holding up really well.

The Japanese charger is probably a serving plate to serve several smaller dishes for a whole table. That's why it has several areas of different colors around the outside edge.

Love the new car! Melissa deserves it and it's such a great and safe family car. It looks brand new. I test drove a Volvo several years ago and was totally impressed by how it handled. If I ever buy another car it will be a Volvo.

the " Peanut Butter Warehouse ". It had many sectioned off places leased to individual dealers.
They had an old bugle there that I picked up. I began to raise it up and Crystal said

Volvo! As you started this I was writing a note to urge you to buy her a Volvo! How funny! Very good choice. We loved ours in snow and rough roads! The steering was always great and very easy.

My 99 s70 is still great in the snow. Love how it handles. Very rarely have to turn the traction control on. I live in Mass and we get plenty of the white stuff

I love my Volvo V-60 station wagon, I have owned it for six months and still find cool things it does that I was unaware of. These vehicles are so awesome in the snow and ice. Mellisa is all smiles and I don’t blame her, great color car also!

I heard once chiropractors used to help design their seats. Super safe brand, and I believe the XC90 has some of the best records.
Those new XC90s are great cars, really loved in the UK too. I can see an old model in the background - they are solid as too. I love em. They do huge mileages on the D5 engines.
