lol i thought i was the only one
I started coughing. 🏖
Yep! A few coughs in between.
I start sneezing
My eye 😳😳😳
Alex, we worry. You tell us we can't understand or hear you if you were to wear a respirator. This cleanout calls for a voice over. Wear a pair of paper coveralls and a respirator with goggles. Add the voiceover in editing. You are a nice looking young man, but this thing is getting to you. Too much stress, dry cough, dark circles under your eyes and swollen sinuses. We worry. I do want to say kudos for not having the kids in that setting! I love this series and want to see more. We need you healthy!
I've watched some urbex explorers wear respirators and they are still understandable. Just a bit muffled so either captions or voice overs would work on parts that are harder to hear!
I agree-- My allergies act up just watching these videos.
I feel like I need a respirator just watching this so yeah, don't compromise your health for views!
And a chest or head mount for the cell phone/camera
Yes! I was like is he rolling around in fiberglass? That stuff is dangerous and some of those old houses have lead and asbestos in the building materials.
So glad you told them this.. lord ie sat from #1 forward and have screamed my head off, itched, coughed, sneezed and I'll be honest I could even smell and taste dirt particles in my mouth!! I have wanted to blow my nose for them just to show them the black snot up there and what will unfortunately be coming out of their lungs in the next few days, weeks even months after this job. My husband and I have a small side business that is similar to this sale he bought. After we clear out an abandoned unit, barn, home etc, most are wooden builds, oldest being a Victorian/colonial farmhouse/1 room log cabin, with a unknown hidden root cellar, covered spring fed well, a small living quarters for slaves or tornado shelter? It was not found on any of the land descriptions, plats or county records or archives..the live underground spring was shown for surrounding areas, but not the land we were cleaning. All 3 architecture structures were uncased in each other with the 2 story Victorian being it's last and the shell covering all, from evidence the oldest being circa early 1700 to last addition 1820. The large group that purchased the land and buildings wanted everything removed in order to build a gated community.. we do take downs but we dismantle respectfully so each item, board, hinge, knob, brick, glass, metal, salvageable top to bottom we inventory, clean and organize for resale..every piece of wood I feel I touch tales a story.. ok.. Racoons, squirrels, rats, mice, bats, including birds and owls pee and poop can kill you... Mites and diseases they carry can kill you.. breathing in or having insulation in your skin, eyes, nose and lungs may not exactly kill you but will make you wish you were dead and many times sick for the rest of your life.. asbestos is deadly! Please listen to the warnings, you can not build up an resistance to these things.. pss Look up dust mites magnified, harmless not any more..
I keep expecting a squirrel walking around all dolled up in fur and jewelry
😂😂😂😂
😂
That sounds like a Geico ad. 😂
lol good one!
Now thats funny! This is the first time I knew squirrels actually dragged in the pine cones. I thought they just took the pine nuts out.

Hans and Zenovia have earned every cent of that $1500.00 that Alex found in the kitchen glass.
Im sure Alex is going to make bank on all the "treasures" he has come across. Let's hope he shares a little more of it with Hans and Zinovia. They have really put in the hours and back-breaking work as well.
He mentioned in an earlier video, when he was listing his costs (the dumpster, etc), that he pays them wages for their work too.
@@kirstenfox182 Yes that’s what he said I think he just give that $1500 to them as like a Christmas bonus since it was found right around Christmas
I know he is paying them wages for their work, and that he gave them the $1,500 extra because he is a kind, thoughtful, and more than fair gentleman. I just meant that they had pretty well earned the extra bonus. I would never think that Alexander would not give them what they obviously deserve.
I understand your decision fatigue! Every little thing starts with what is its value, where does it go, when to go through it, clean it, haul it, tag it, budget dumpster, arrange, pay the help, how much time left, film, edit videos, etc., etc., etc. Then symptoms, balancing family, business. Wow. And remaining jolly through it all.
You have tens, hundreds of thousands of viewers interested, entertained and supportive of you! Thank you for taking us along on this adventure!
It is harder is you are a family member, then sentiment enters into the decision making big time.
That's how houses can get into that state. Decision fatigue. What is precious, what is useful, what is trash. It all gets muddled up in an aging mind, add on a weak body, and it just builds up.
Alex may have to get the family to help him clean and sort the auction items. Maybe he can get them to let him work after their hours.

Reading the comments, it’s like having a thousand mothers telling you to get a better mask/respirator, and being careful. Nice to see the love. What an adventure.
Ok, I’m going to chime in too. I’m old, and I know things! The things you’re breathing, like in the attack or on the floor in the hidden room won’t just aggravate your allergies or asthma, the dust could have biological hazards that cause rare diseases. The fiber from the insulation can get imbedded in your lungs, etc. I know you know all of this, but since you do these things for a life's work, all of it adds up to make your old age a horror or shorten your life span. I sound like a grippy old lady, but I think you are an exceptional man with a very good heart and soul. You have a beautiful family. In addition, you’re a handsome guy who has a great screen presence. So, take better care of yourself! We all love watching you and your friends do these projects. Today you needed a respirator. You could do a voice over in situations like today. Saying all of this with love!

Yeah I was seriously dying up in that attic. No way would I claw thru that. I instantly was itching and feeling uncomfortable. And when he cleaned the sink I thought I could smell clorox bleach. It's weird how the sensory feelings kick in just watching a video. I will say it is the opposite of ASMR. lol
Is it love or nagging? Most refer back to how they feel. Nice to suggest what you would do rather than what someone else should do. I messages are more effective.

Alex, a few years ago, I was cleaning up seeds and bird poop under my bird feeder. The mold got in my lungs and I literally felt like I was dying. Doctor gave me a cortisone injection. I am concerned for you going through that squirrel and pine cone mess. Please see your doctor if you can’t breathe without coughing. Thanks for entertaining us! Stay healthy.
I agree, but he said he went the other day. He is sounding like he did in the Potters house series. I worry.
Dear Alex’ please wear protective mask when going through those poisonous old dust and debris. Your lungs are more precious than any jewelries.

Little out of breath, eh? No wonder, working hard! So were Hans and Zinovia. My gosh, these are good friends and good workers. Hanging in and doing that kind of labor with the care and effort put forth, in those dusty environments, is a testament to their opinion of you, as well as to their own tenacity. Oh God!!! My nose was itching the whole time he was in there!! Well... While watching all episodes to be exact!!! And I kept thinking, why doesn't he take a dustpan or something and put everything in bags to clear his way. But I guess it's not his job to clean everything! 😃
I agree but with Alex’s health problems I would get a face cover to cover my eyes or goggles so that Dust and stuff didn’t go into his eyes either
If you do another hoarder home: I recommend (3M comfort quick latch respirator 6503QL with a p100 filter 2091) tough to get with COVID, full coverage safety glasses (goggle-like ones), and good work gloves. Other help volunteers will need the same PPE.
In the Living room, there is a hanging lamp in the corner. The camera zoomed so fast I did not see it well. When you get home, gargle with salt water. Your lungs are sounding rough; if you have a nebulizer, please use it. Even OTC Primatene will help. Down below, someone suggested Epsom salt soak. I think everyone that has been working needs a good hot 20-minute soak.
Watching that carpet getting vacuumed was sooooooo satisfying.

Who feels like the next owner is going to do a remodel and find a stash in the wall?
This is Edmonton. The next owner will most probably demolish everything and put up an infill house. Way to many problems in these old wartime houses that will cost tens of thousands to fix/replace. They won't care what treasures may be stashed.
The Bear Den Photography that’s kind of heart breaking - i’ve seen around my area people buy old mansions near lake erie and they tear down and rebuild because it’s cheaper...but if i had the $$ i’d restore original house every. single. time. keeps the. history of the property.
Where are the pistols and rifles for all the bullets and shells?
@@cathycasuccio3227 I agree, it is very heartbreaking, but people don't want old anymore. And quite frankly, the electrical, plumbing and heating in that house is most likely not within code anymore. It would all have to be stripped bare and rebuilt from the ground up. The damage to wiring by squirrels alone could be very costly. The electrical system couldn't handle all of the modern day electrical appliance that we put into homes today. I lived in an older house and my wife couldn't use a hair dryer while I vacuumed without blowing a circuit breaker.
I don’t know, I actually feel that the house has potential for a remodel. The foundation looks pretty good in the basement, looks dry and like it didn’t have any cracking or flooding or water problems. Overall it’s in pretty good condition. Update the plumbing and electrical and the kitchen. The house might also generate interest because of the lady who lived there being a local celebrity. My dad and I have remodeled much worse.

Get some respirators Alex. They’re like $20 US and will save your lungs.

Try using a metal detector in the Attic & eaves & use a stiff plastic rake. Maybe a BIG shop vac too. All that insolation will have to be replaced anyway !
Good idea but screws, nails and wiring might be a promblem. But it think there are metal detectors out there that can differenciate between different metals.
@@centrifugedestroyer2579 From watching a "green mountain metal detecting"'s youtube channel I think different metal types make different sounds & metal detectors can set it to none detect iron/copper. But I am likely totally wrong!

Kudos to everyone helping and doing such an outstanding job. And may you reap much from all your hard work.
this is in Canada... Minimum wage is over $14/hr
Your most likely looking at 25$ an hour for sure
Day labor here in NorCal its $18/hr and you buy lunch for him/her.
I don't know where you live, but minimum wage is $12/hr in California and good luck finding anyone who will do that kind of labor for that price and not sue you if they get injured or have health problems from it. Probably would (and should) be paid hazard pay too.
$6 to $8 an hour? You can't even get a babysitter for that amount of money.

I went to a grocery store yesterday and they had a small bag of pinecones with glitter on them. $3 a bag. Now, I think we know someone with pinecones. With a little work that would've been an extra $1,000.
😂
LOL, My parents threw away Austrian pine cones by the bushel every month. Now the stores sell cinnamon-scented pine cones for $6 per small bag. We could have made a mint! I made a lot of handicrafts out of those pine cones as a kid.
rofl!
Make Josh an offer!
grab some glitter, hair spray to hold glitter down, and scented oil from dollar tree or dol-a-rama and you could make a tidy sum at craft fairs.
The Harris Metal is a Lead billet, you'd buy them and melt off what you need
That's what I thought, as it looked like melted lead...
My dad and I use to make fishing weights and rifle bullets in much the same fashion.
It's more common to get sticks or the small biscuits that weigh 1-2 pounds each, but you could buy 10 pound Billets and those had the company names on them. Some old ones complete are actually collectible
Fishermen would like that to make weights.

The owners want to keep it Alex said
@@helenbailey8419 Uh..."Keep It?" I don't think so. I'm not a lawyer, but MY understanding of the deal between the Owners and Alexander ARCHBOLD are that ALEXANDER ARCHBOLD bought the entire contents of the Lady RAC estate, for $10,000 dollars, which in my non-Lawyer mind means, EVERYTHING in the house including the pinecones ,dust contagions, rust, mice, are and belong to Alexander ARCHBOLD. NOT, the entire contents of the Lady RAC estate "MINUS THE OFFICE DESK", if the owners of the Lady RAC estate want the Office Desk:
"THEY CAN BUY IT!!!! That's easily a $1,510 DOLLARS office desk, a magnificent antique with plenty of history." Don't you agree Helen?
@@MrQbenDanny don't know enough about the situation. Was just saying what I heard Alex say.
@@MrQbenDanny Who said there hasn't been a deal done? Alex clearly has a good business head and will already have a figure in mind for what he thinks he should make from the house. He knows what he is doing, and what he can and can not afford to do. Let's say he is going to let the new house owner keep the desk. Losing out on $1500 is worth $1m of not having to take all the pine cones, dust and everything else with him if he also owns them. By letting the owner keep the desk (we are assuming he isn't paying for it - we don't know that for a fact), he is buying 'goodwill', and that goodwill can go a very long way in business. Sometimes you get more satisfaction out of sharing your good fortune, than trying to keep it all for yourself. Therein lies too much stress.
@@cblaney3931 If ALEX wants to DONATE the desk back to the owners out of sentimental value, that's HIS business. The owners decision to "KEEP IT", is a whole other tone in character.
I agree ALEX knows his job and smart enough to be the Prime Minister of Canada, but saying the owners "Decided to keep it", doesn't sit well with ME. A deal is a deal. BEFORE Alex entered the house, the owners had already taken out what they WANTED. ALEX said that in the 1st video of the series.
The wallpaper, hanging board desks, and piece of homework make me think the secret room was a place for a child to study and the warning on the door was the equivalent of a "Keep Out" sign for adults!

5 minutes in, your persistence in crawling in there with camera in one hand amazes me. Maybe we need to find you a super camera hat, or super camera glasses so you can have 2 hands free!! thank you for all this content, really enjoying watching all the hoarded home clear outs!
This show inspires me to CLEAN !!!!!
Happiest of ALLNEW YEARS TO YOU AND YOURS!!!
Those two wood boards Dale found at 29:00 back in the corner are called Palaver chairs. They are missing the seat though. You stick a paddle-shaped piece in the hole and it balances as a chair.
I knew they looked familiar! Yes, I've seen them before - was thinking to myself, "No! Don't put them in the trash!!!"
Instead of moving all the squirreldust around every time, wouldn't it be easier faster and safer to touch it only once and shove it in a garbage bag and make some visible room at the same time? (paused at 3:32)
Shoving stuff into a bag actually would make more dust than just moving it around a bit.
Wow, the house is nearly done. I can’t believe what Hans and Zinovia accomplish in a day!! They are such hard workers!! I thought you were either silly or brave, Alex, crawling around that attic with all the pine cones and dust. I kept thinking how hard it would be to breath up there. Wishing you, Melissa and the rest of your family a happy and safe new year and all the best for a wonderful 2021. Let’s hope it is a good one for all of us. Love from Down Under 💕🎉🍾🎊🇦🇺
At some point I'd have gotten a shovel and two more dumpsters..good for you for sticking with it
@@shawnoutcelt Yes indeed, priority for tonight for Alex is rest, hot food, a relaxing shower and a good night's sleep. Take care of you. Could Stephen or Jason come with you tomorrow to help fill the new dumpster, haul auction stuff upstairs and box up charity donations. Hans and Zinovia look beat too.😊
Right? Are we only on week three?
@@juliegraham8133 I wondered that also ,I know the house is dirty and Momma might not want them breathing that yucky stuff. But maybe having one help at the auction house, move stuff and help Alex sort stuff.
OMG more jewelry --- please show us what they look like--- and thanks for saving so much for charity and for the auctions,
Hans and Zinovia are two of the hardest working people I have ever seen. After watching them work I need a nap! LOL!
Nice to see Hans having a proper face mask! Hopefully in the future they'll use professional masks in hoarder houses, especially with Alex's asthma issues, and there might be asbestos!
This really is the hardest part of clearing out a house! Surrender is not an option🤪! Kudos to Hans and Zenovia! They have been working like troopers! Happy New Year everyone and take a day or two off and then the final push!! Hopefully, more treasures to find🤌🤞👍❤🇨🇦🎉🎊👏
You might want to think about investing in small LED headlamp, they take like 2-3 triple A batteries & illuminate a lot of area, and right exactly in the direction that your face is pointed. I use one for all kinds of stuff, like working on the vehicles & to see small things much clearer, like tiny printing.
I'm completely fascinated by this series, but I don't know if I can keep watching if Alexander doesn't get a respirator! It's too hard to watch him making himself ill.
I’m feeling the same way. As much as I love this channel, I can’t watch someone destroying their health like that when it would be so easy not to.
That’s what I said three episodes ago.
Alex: please think of your health, and that of your friends helping you.
No one wants you to get sick.
I give up!
It's not only finding curiosities, it's also follwing ones life path, that makes your chanel so interesting. Good job.
I would have taken a shop Vac, put something like the foot part of a pair of pantyhose over the end of the vacuum hose with duct tape or a rubber band and then vacuum up all the dust and dirt. That way, bigger things, like jewelry and clothing wouldn't get sucked up and it would be much easier to sweep all the pinecones into a pile and move them out of the way. It would also be safer because you could see where you're stepping/crawling and wouldn't be constantly breathing so much dust.
"Petrified banana" ... scared fruitless. I know. Sorry.
An Alex joke!! lol...
That was good! Not the banana, the joke.
🤪😁🤣😂
😂🤣🤣
I’m going to guess when Alex calls it done and hands the house over to the owner there’s still going to be a hidden gem hiding somewhere.
Thats the kind of thinking that keeps you up at night!
Actually, that's the kind of thinking that makes you dig in an attic full of pine cones and squirrel poop. I'm afraid I resemble that remark 😋😳😳

That dining room rug is beautiful. I have almost the same 1930-s dining set and almost the same rug. A guy that steam cleaned my rug several yrs ago told me that rug was worth about $1,000. I bought it all on Craigslist for $300 and the guy threw in the rug for free!
I wish you showed more in detail of the jewelry & stuff you found in that crawlspace! Also, Hans & Zinovia are fantastic workers and friends. You really lucked out in life, Alex! I can't believe how insanely fast this house is being cleaned out!
