After a hard days night of picking, I come up with some curious finds! watch and see what rolled in on todays episode Развлечения
Sell the violin lamp and advertise it, "As is, no strings attached." 😊
Face palm, LOL.
Booo. Shouldn't fiddle around with stuff like that
After that joke you should take a bow.
Cute, cute, cute. A quick wit you are.
😂😂😂😂😂
It’s always so sad to me to see people’s things being dumped by their families. I’ve been collecting vintage postcards of photographs from the Victorian period. They used to have their photo made into a postcard. I frame then and have a family of them. I have so few things of my dad’s. I had all my things in my mother’s house for a few months while I moved when there was a “fire” in the attic. According to my mother and sister, my extensive collection of antique linens made by my grandmother her sister, a beautiful kitchen set of table, chairs, and china closet, and boxes of photos and personal items. I got no insurance payout. They said nothing I lost was covered. Years later on a visit home, there were no renovations of the attic, no signs of a fire. Some of my things, like papers, letters, photos, etc were in the back of a 2nd floor closet. Then my sister made a family book with my dad’s military stuff. Yeah, the stuff that “burned” in the “fire.” Now I collect other people’s abandoned family members. How you sell or throw away family photos is beyond me. Who knows where my things went really? It looks like my mother gave it to my sister less than 3 months after I left it there while house hunting and cooked up the fire story to cover it. Don’t know how they thought I’d never see what happened. Families suck.
I'm sorry Deb. That's rough. 💗
Unfortunately we can’t chose family, sounds like something my step grandma would do
Sorry to hear that happened to you.
Hi Alexander; that Wings 1980 Japanese tour guide should be independantly appraised. The tour actually never went ahead - Paul was busted for bringing pot into the country and spent a week in prison before being kicked out, and that was the end of Wings. To a collector I imagine this would be one of those holy grail items. Don't sell it too cheap!
Agreed and the same thing goes for the '94 Rolling Stones press kit, quite rare.
Worthpoint shows sales around $50
I’m a self appointed family genealogist and finding and reading wills of my ancestors provide me very important information on, their history, finances ,spouse, ( sometimes more than one ) children or other heirs etc, and help to fill in our family tree. Sad, that John did not leave anything to his son Julian. Hopefully Yoko Ono has shared some of her financial inheritance with their son Sean . For the record Julian sued ( Ono /Trust ) and there was a confidential settlement 1996 . Julian, per media reports was awarded $20 million pounds. (At the time of John’s death his estate was valued at $220 million pounds).
The two page copy of John’s will was very revealing about John Lennon and by extension Yoko Ono ( not to be applauded). Thank you Alex for sharing.
I love your knowledge of so many items. Your videos are not only entertaining, but also educational and informative.
thanks so much!
Wool blankets are so valuable! They don’t make them that way anymore. And you can’t beat the warmth. Probably do have to be dry cleaned. But so worth it.
I just wish I wasn’t allergic to them! I’d want the Navy one!
Normally I just skip past the "sponsor shoutouts" but Melissa does it in a way that's so reminiscent of her usual vlogs that it doesn't feel like an advertisement
So true!
Right! I could watch her cook all day! She makes it very enjoyable rather than those 'cooking' shows
Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
@@MelArchbold Still waiting for that Butter Chicken video, Melissa. :)
I just love Melissa! And I love watching her cook! I’m not sure why I’ve never been to her channel…no excuses! 😒 Going now!
i can't help to wonder if that tamborine doesn't have more history to it than being "just a tamborine" since it was in the box full of John Lennon stuff.
Yoko used to see herself as the fifth Beatle, squeaking away and with that tambourine in her hand.
@@Harriemes 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so unfortunately the tambourine is worthless then 😄
Re: building the Hoover Dam book - my Uncle Art worked for Euclid Road Machinery (think Caterpillar earth-moving machines). He was all over the world as the mechanic on site to keep the equipment running. He worked on the Alcan highway, a dam in Pakistan, an Air Force base in Greenland, a power plant at Niagara Falls, but his first job was ....the Hoover Dam.
Wow cool family history and great story. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
That is a amazing. I have relatives in Ontario and their surname is Scrimshaw, love that name.😊
I had an uncle who heeled build the AlCan.
He was in the Army/Air Corp but drove big equipment
Put the On Air sign outside your new office .
I’m with you on the violin lamp! I hope someone buys it and is able to make it an instrument again.
I noticed the very unusual pegbox on it, which is more like those on a cello or double bass - nothing like the one on my slightly older instrument which has straight pegs that are a taper fit. Might have been "fixed" by someone more used to the machine-heads on guitars. Mine was bought used/damaged by my great grandfather as an apprentice cabinet maker to repair and then teach himself to play on. Although the repair is so good nobody can work out which is his work and which original, he did not know the importance of the label, and it is missing.
I love it your wife is such a sweetheart. Her soft spoken voice ,shows her cheeriness. What a great couple.
not the original playbill from Jesus Christ Superstar - that was an insert with the original LP recording which was I believe was issued before the stage production commenced.
Love your laugher and your positive attitude. Always fun to watch your pic reveals. Thanks for making it fun.
The Rolling Stones magazine with John Lennon naked on the cover is the only magazine that you can’t back order it’s valueable
I love how Alex says neat and neato. That's been my expression of approval since I was a teeny bopper. Happy to see Melissa using her Pyrex. Stay warm Archbolds!
Yeah. It’s Neato
I noticed the Amish Pyrex bowl as well! ☺️
Ugg, you know what I'm learning from your channel, Alexander? Aside from the value of a wide array of vintage and antique items, I've learned that I "have some age on me." Ha!
Don’t we all? ;)
I roast sweet potatoes all the time but always peel. I was so interested to see this recipe without peeling first. It also appears that the quality of the ingredient that they send is top-notch. When I buy a small bag of them at my grocery store, invariably I have spots that he to be cut out. This all looks delicious.
What a blast from the past! My Dad had a coke bottle lighter like that when I was a kid. It was old then 50 years ago.
Ludwig is a good brand. Looks like it has some sticker on it, maybe it memorabilia that belonged to someone famous since most tambourines found in homes are toys or student level instruments.
Today is a great day for a Curiosity Inc. video!
Every day is.
Glad you think so!
@@danielulz1640 Absolutely, my friend!
The two toned loaner
I raised a calf in our farm basement. He was born to early and almost didn’t make it. He had frostbite on his ear and tail. But he survived and went on to be a dad! Those were the days!! LOL 😂
Hello everyone! I’m in Phoenix Arizona 🌵🌵🌵 it is bright and sunny here today. No snow here!
Watching from Hot Springs, Arkansas! It is a pretty cool place to live and visit. It is very scenic and located in the middle of a national park. Hot Springs has a rich history, including regular visitors, such as Al Capone, who enjoyed our natural hot springs bathhouses.
I’m from Fayetteville, Arkansas and love visiting Hot Springs! Garvan Gardens also a great tourist attraction.
“All my ducks in a row” - the Dad jokes are strong in you Alex. 😉🤣
OMG Alex that car reminds me of Johnny Cash's old song , I got it one piece at a time and it didn't cost me a dime 😂
The FARCE is strong with this one. Fortunate that he is a Dad, so he may use his powers freely.
You are one with the dad force
The Queen Victoria coin, her hair was in a bun with lace hanging down, not a ponytail. My dad used to collect the old Victorian bun pennies. I still have them.
A second class ride is better than a first class walk 😃👍🏻
Love your videos. Its kind of interesting how you're finding all these John Lennon and Beatles collectibles so close to the anniversary of Lennon's death and the release of the new Beatles Documentary. Just coincidence, I guess.
Bundle the Lennon doll and other things, with the tapes, and sell from Sotheby's or similar auction house, bet you could make a mint! Good going Alexander 🙂
@9:10 - That's the insert for the 2LP record album of the Broadway play version. Featured Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. Awesome music!!
My sister had a copy of the Beatles illustrated lyrics when we were in school some time in th the early 70's which fits with the date in your copy. It is a great book.
My father was an Air Force mechanic in the fifties. He worked on the trucks that pulled the missiles, jeeps, weapon carriers, etc. He also drove some of the big trucks. He was stationed in Germany and England.
At Bien Hoa AB in South Vietnam, several of the guys took their military issue blankets and had Vietnamese vendors turn them into jackets with the US featured on the back.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I am sure Bailey the book man can fix that book for you.
That second duck has a big quack.
😂
Castle Garden here, too!!
Anyone who has done genealogy has read a LOT of wills! Leaving everything to one person simplifies the list. If you want to give certain things to certain people then it has to be listed that way.
You need that "on air" box in the new house.
I saw his oldest son Julian interviewed and it was really sad that his father just 'forgot' him. For Sean, being his son with Yoko, reaped all of the rewards of being John Lennon's son. Seemed just tragic to me.
Wondering if your Air Force Majors service time lined up with Chuck Yeager as a test pilot. If so he may be in a picture.
Good ol corollas! They live forever. I have a 2002 with 215,000 miles. Still kicking! Vroom vroom.
I could (and have) sit and watch people cook all day long, then by the time I should be cooking, I'm exhausted from watching others cooking 🤣🤣
Lots of cool stuff. Loved all the music memorabilia.… Especially the Beatles lyrics book. Would love to spend an hour or two looking at it.
Keep the on air light. It’ll be super cool in the new house in the office/studio when you were doing live chats.
It was great to see all 3 kiddos at the table enjoying your hello fresh, they are growing up so fast!
The Jesus Christ Superstar pamphlet was the insert in the LP, not a playbill
Omg, I have that Currier and Ives table book but mine was 1952 and still has its paper jacket. Check out plate# 75 and #76. Puzzle pics! The kids might like to see them 🤗🤗
I was raised in a home off of the Lincoln Highway in far western Pennsylvania. Much cleaner and less trash on the road these days.
I bet that tambourine have some connection with The Beatles.
Love Melissa's surprise takeovers of Alexander's YT videos. 🥰
Me too!!
@@CuriosityIncorporated ❤ 😄 💙
Thanks for these videos.
Glad you like them!
the loaner cars look like that so people won't keep them if it runs better than their own lol
Hello Fresh is great! I took advantage of the offer last summer and ordered my Christmas dinner for the 23rd. It's a brilliant service with so many delicious options!!
The first episode of your channel i ever watched was when you were rescuing the airstream.
A leather bound pipe. Wow, I never would ever have thought such a thing existed 🤯.
Never expected to see anything from long Island, New York (where I live) in a Canadian antique store.
Back in the day people would have stables in there back yard. My grandparents had three. A carriage house a horse stall and then a garage. The path the coach would go is still under the grass and then there is a spot of cement where people get out.
Although he's not musically inclined, my hubby has one of his pepe's violins in it's case. He also has one of his pipes as a keepsake.
It was nice seeing the lovely Melissa at end of the video. Sweet potato fries are my favorite fries.
The LP-insert comes from the Ringo Starr - album "Ringo" (1973).
It beats walking.
My grandfather used to walk his horse through the house to the inner garden after work every day.
Your people got to these shores in the 1800s. My family got here in the early 1600s. That's why a Southern pick could be in your future! (Along with golf ⛳)
Longchamp is a brand that’s famous for their handbags, so that might be worth more than you think
Hi there 😊 hope all is well with you people in the world 🌎 😊 🙂
Hey there!
Mepham vs Baldwin are Long Island, NY, high schools. Someone from North Bellmore would be interested in that memorabilia.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
David Bowie 1983 tour SWEET MEMORIES !!! Makes me smile and feel happy 🤸♀️💃🤩
If I lived near you I would do all my Christmas Shopping in your store
Little bit of "for future knowledge" for you. Many many moons ago, during the winter them family would all sleep upstairs and the farm animals would be downstairs. That's where the term "threshold" comes from. As they would throw the thresh (hay and bedding) down for the animals and the piece of wood under the door became know as threshold.
19:09 - That 'Jesus Chris Superstar' lyric-book was included with the 'boxed' version of the album that was released in Oct 1970.
Unfortunately, it is *not* a playbill :(
( you'll have to mark it down, Alex :( )
You know everyone is gonna want more cooking videos now...it was well done..great videos Alex
I have a portable RCA record player made in 1913 in New Jersey! Very cool. You only can play 33 records on it, and have to change the needle for every play.
It looks more like a viola than a violin-the lamp.
I live in Silvertown, part of Thomaston, GA where those Goodrich tires were made! Silvertown has recently been designated a historical landmark as well.
Zippo was originally designed for the military because the flame cover kept the light from being seen at a distance. Most men covered their hand over any escaping light.
The older the Zippo the more valuable.
Okay honestly i like the violin lamp it be so cool in a music room with old music instruments
That rock collection is SOLID GOLD!!!!
We have some of the Currier & Ives season prints framed, always grab them when we can find them
Love the blankets. I'm an Air Force brat who moved with my family to Alaska when I was 18 months old. Yes I remember flying on a plane and how gorgeous it was. Summer was spent camping and snuggling under wool blankets. Have not been able to find a good wool blanket.
Interesting finds, Alex. Melissa those chicken sandwiches and sweet potato fries looked delicious! Thank y’all for sharing!
When I washed clothing I found some pennies and 3 nickels in the washer after I took the clothing out, the coins were 30 years old but they cleaned up great, looked like they were just minted.
Love your videos, Alex! The Jesus Christ Superstar “playbook” was an insert in the JCS double album sold in the early 70s. I still have mine and it’s a treasure!
Yep, there was no play (or movie) at that point--just the album. My folks had one, too.
@@jeanneclark99 Which is because the first recording was not a soundtrack for a show or movie but a recording as a precursor to getting a show produced. Webber and Rice started the trend for this. People had done it before, but only to interest producers. Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and JCS were among the first to be released to the public.
We have a lakehouse in Hot Springs, AR. Amazing town with very rich history! So cool you found a lighter from there!
I love cooking with Melissa! I also love Roasted Sweet Potatoes. I dont use the oil, I dry rub with a Cajun spice mix. Man they are soooo good…
Alex.. You need a staging area where when you bring stuff in it's not brought right into the store but where you can sort and then bring it in where could you do that and that garage or where would be convenient?
Cool seeing the Rolling Stones pamphlet I attended that tour in Utah Rice Stadium. Best concert I have been to!
My daughter's family moved to Lima OH several years ago when my son-in-law took a job with Airstream as a designer for their motorhome line. He got let go during the Covid shut down. He was able to bounce back with another job in the same area with another aspect of the RV industry. He originally worked for Fleetwood in his home town in Indiana.
Loved the violin and the decoys. They were beautiful!
Also on the Zippo lighters the slashes on the bottom the greater the value. You had some with six slashes the better the lighter none or one or two the less value but the older designs have their own higher price.
A Loner is a good thing. 👏🏻
My heart is crushed ! I loved the violin lamp ….until you told me it was so old!
Alex, Nice "Hooptie" you're driving there. Lol
I’m from Arkansas and Hot Springs is a historic city with old bath houses. Oaklawn Horse races are there as well. Fun city on Lake Hamilton. Very nice destination place full of history. 😊
I think the Jesus Christ Superstar playbill came with the album.
Yes, for sure. I have it.
I am lol’ing that anyone would question why you would want nice wool blankets for the shop. Down here in Southern California, where we only occasionally have a need, nice condition vintage wool blankets cost a pretty penny! I have been wanting one for my bed for years, but they are hard to find without being overpriced.
great collection of stuff. I appreciate your commentary, I always learn something and I love your store .... it brings back have fond memories of my little toyshop
We had the same Currier and Ives book when I was a child. I loved looking at the pictures. Always enjoy inboxing videos.
You should put the on air sign in the store.
That On Air sign might be perfect for your office at home or when you are recording or on a phone call or something and need to not be disturbed.
If you run into any questions on duck decoys at any time. There is a duck decoy museum near me in Havre de Grace Maryland. Pretty sure they would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I took my Filipino sister-in-law to a huge Flea Market and she was asking me if I knew what things were, she knows I love antiques, TODAY I gave her a complete education!
14 hours ago I watched the documentory on THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY and strangely enough at 21:25 you have a book on it.
Hope you had a good "Krampus" Birthday. Best wishes !
Yeah, my family also came through. They went through Ellis island from Sicily.
