And yes, a lot of people have done this before! (The earliest I could find was Buzzfeed back in 2015.) But they didn't do it with electric shock pads, in an actual old operating theatre. In hindsight, there's probably a reason for that.

Well, since you asked: Charlie Horse is typically used in North America to describe a specific muscle spasm (usually in the calf) that suddenly tightens the muscle and makes it incredibly painful to move. Normally obtained by stretching your legs.
EDIT: The way to fix it is to gently move the tightened muscle. Starting out slowly doing small movements then eventually expanding to slowly doing the full range of motion. Saw some people were saying it lasts a while, so I hope this helps some people. I've never had it last more than a couple minutes (including time it takes to find a spot to sit/lay down) using this. i.e. If your calf has the spasm then slowly move your foot up and down but only do small movements. Going too far will hurt. For your thigh you need to bend your knee. As you do more repetitions you'll get more range of motion until you're back to normal.
As for the spelling, it depends on the region you're in. The location of the spasm can be anywhere, though is most common in the legs. Most common are calf/thigh.
