  • Sharkface! What a mighty little RC plane. Check out the kit here:
This week James mods a Sharkface with a huge 3000kv NTM motor to see how fast it will go (and return intact).

I built a Sharkface some 12 years ago, as Rudder/Elevator ( I tried ailerons - not nice to fly) with electric up front, mine is only pulling approx 150 amps, not the out and out speed machine you have created (awesome btw) it weighs 320 gms incl 3 cell lipo and is still a little quick for me (69 yrs!) but I fly it in all weathers from 0 - 30 mph winds it is a super machine. Launch it like a javelin. All aerobatics to some degree. So thanks also go to Eric Clutton (I have original plan!). Keep stretching the limits .

Hi, I built a Sharkface in about 1970 for a Cox TD 049 with Macgregor single channel radio controlling the rudder only. It was fast then with the Cox, can't remember the weight but it was a lot heavier than my club mates planes, much faster too. With practice one could loop and roll it even without a throttle or elevator, also one had to remember which direction one turned last. Hard to believe but rudder was sequential, left then right then left again.

Bit of a wierd question, but would you ever release the Balsa Basics warbirds in foam? I've built the elastic-powered Hurricane from your range, so it's not a skill problem, it's that I'd really like the Hurricane, but I'm concerned about its repairability should I crash.

diesel is the way to go for model eignes up to 2,5cc. they are just much easier to handle...an you dotn have to carry a car battery in your backpocket

Is there a way to scale this up? I have a weedwacker motor lying around. That would be epic.
