  • From the packaging to the overall execution, it's clear how much effort went into the evolution of this Trafford Crossroads design. I have a feeling this is going be a huge success when it launches on Kickstarter!

    Nicely done and good effort at remaining objective. I’ve been watching the evolution of this project as well. The only problem I see is deciding on a colorway.

    Great and thorough review. Not repetitive and very informative. Good delivery. Thanks. As for the watch, I’ve also been following its development on FB. A lot of thought has gone into the design. It’s eye catching and smart. It makes a change from a round case and a diver or pilot style etc. The wine colour dial catches my eye my the most at the moment. It looks different hues in different light. Though the teal and the green both look smart. At $499 for the mechanical movement (I’m not a Mecaquartz fan even though it’s clever) it’s possibly at the top of a price point, especially for Kickstarter where you expect perhaps it to be say $100 cheaper. But frankly the world has got very expensive over the last year so perhaps it simply reflects current costing and prices in the wider world.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! That's largely my take as well. I'd love to see it come in around $400-450 for the early bird pricing, but also think it's a fair price knowing the increasing cost of production (especially for a small microbrand) and all of the effort that went into the design development. Not a steal, but a darn good watch for the money. Cheers

      Hey Kevin, thanks for all the kind words and support! Gosh…price. It’s so hard. There are SO many factors in play. Cost of goods, shipping, minimum order quantities, and maybe the biggest, inflation. It’s a sign of the times. However, the main point I have is that I’ve done the math and this price point is what will 1. Get the things made and 2. help me to grow as a company. This was a big learning from the last watch. I made no money. And I don’t mean no money to live off, I mean not even money to fund working on this next watch. I had to scratch and claw to fund this project. I’m not complaining about that-I just don’t think it’s a solid business plan! So this is a watch that will hopefully help me and my brand to grow so that I can continue to make meaningful objects.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, it would be awesome if the quartz spread was greater. It's a double edged sword with the movement choice. On the one hand, it would be nice to have the quartz be a decent chunk less. On the other hand, I personally wouldn't like a cheaper non-sweeping quartz movement. In the end, I'm going the Miyota route anyways. Cheers

    Great video as always. You lost me at the price. $500 for the early bird on Kickstarter for a watch without a bracelet! That's quite expensive. So this is more expensive than every Zelos released this year with a 9039 (steel and titanium). Also as expensive as other microbrands with Bracelets (Lorier, Radcliffe etc etc). Nice watch BUT the early bird price on KS should be at least $150 cheaper.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the support! I hear you. It would have been great if they could get it to the $400-450 territory. I think it's worth the cost of admission (largely shaped by thinking it's impeccably designed and a joy to wear) but do agree there have been better spec values. Cheers

    • @andrea81
      @andrea81 2 года назад +3

      The sapphire is a non-standard shape and has that curve though. I think it's probably pretty expensive to manufacture, yet necessary to make the design work so well. For me the watch would be pretty expensive also considering import taxes for the EU, yet I don't think it's unreasonably priced.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely. There are also a lot of factors like inflationary impacts, shipping increases, minimum order quotes are going up with pretty much every manufacturer, etc. Ultimately, I'm happy to support the brand and will end up with a watch or two I'll enjoy for years. Cheers

    • @marzrad4913
      @marzrad4913 2 года назад +2

      I respectfully disagree. Two weeks ago I bought a Van Banner VBAO with applied indeces, fantastic lume, 9039, screws down crown, a double domed sapphire crystal, and 2 bracelets (oyster style and mesh) for $300 USD including shipping. As unique as the curved crystal may be (these cost around $16 vs standard double domed $7), it does not justify the $200 price differential. And that’s with the super early bird pricing, let alone the normal KS pricing.
      Not to mention the Zelos I ordered on Monday for $429 with an anti magnetic cage, 9039, full titanium case and bracelet, on the fly adjust clasp and 1200HV coating. Again, this watch at $500 is way too expensive and I think you guys should reconsider what is “reasonable”.
