- I get ÖHLINS suspension for my KTM 500 EXC 2018 for my Supermoto BuiLDH. Episode #12. This time I visited @ENGRacing to help me out with my suspension since I bought a used set of WP with cartridge kit from öhlins that had been on a 2 stroke motocross or enduro (not sure). So we did the setup for my race weight of 92 kg (80 kg me + 12 kg of gear). The setting was more for Supermoto racing including asphalt tracks/gokart tracks and dirt jumps. So this is also good for them streets. But its not ideal for high speed racing (200+ kmh) but Im not aiming for that anyways.
Öhlins cartridge kit in the front and WP rear shock. Both rebuilt for my supermoto adventures.

Öhlins cartridge (the smart choice) and WP rear. ReBuilt for Supermoto by @ENGRacing.
Why I like Öhlins so much is due to the huge setting potential. where as the stock XPLOR 48 has a really narrow window of settings.

What is the total length of your front shock top to bottom?
What did he say about the rebound setting for wheelies? Should I have little to no rebound for 12 oclocks?
Hard tail is what you should go for! the oil maintanance on a hard tail is cheaper!
BLDH thanks! I have stiffened my suspension to «sport» according to the manual. I hope thats not why I went too far on a wheelie and crashed, as im still doing wheelies with this setup...

Not whole suspension! You should change the oil regularly. I watched a video where they showed suspension oil 5,10,15...50 hours on it(mx bike) and the difference was just huge. More to say - after 30 hours there were metal pieces in the oil since the cartridge slowly started wearing out. CHANGE THE FORK OIL as well as you do with your engine oil!
