What Is Dedicated Video RAM?
Video RAM (or VRAM, pronounced "VEE-ram") is a special type of RAM that works with your computer's graphics processing unit, or GPU.
The GPU is a chip on your computer's graphics card (also called the video card) that's responsible for displaying images on your screen. Though technically incorrect, the terms GPU and graphics card are often used interchangeably.
Your video RAM holds information that the GPU needs, including game textures and lighting effects. This allows the GPU to quickly access the info and output video to your monitor.
Using video RAM for this task is much faster than using your system RAM because video RAM is right next to the GPU in the graphics card. VRAM is built for this high-intensity purpose and it's thus "dedicated."

I remember when you could set the exact amount of vram you wanted but HP, Dell and others have become way too proprietary. They limit what you can do because they want you to buy their latest and "greatest" products.
Get Lenovo Legion PC instead. Their PC's have extra RAM slots, Extra M2 SSD Slots, Unused S-ATA 3 Cables etc. Also have extra room for HDD's, SSD etc. I called Lenovo, and you don't lose warranty if you upgrade RAM etc. You only lose warranty if you somehow break your PC for obvious reasons.

For those who fail these processes, just get into setup bios press del once u restart the comp then hit advance it depends on your motherboard

This method won’t give you any performance or extra boost in your games, this method will only trick the games to run on lower VRAM

This method does not trick the game into using lower VRAM, its essentially just a page file and when the actual onboard gpu memory runs out, it stores the remaining textures in the system memory, which is much slower than the video memory. However, this process is done by windows automatically and that why when you exceed your gpu vram capacity, the game doesnt just suddenly crash, but the fps takes a huuuge impact because system memory is 1) slow and 2) it takes much longer for the gpu to communicate with the system memory than to communicate with its onboard video memory
And as I said, there is no need for you to do any extra steps manually as this is already done by windows automatically

I downloaded the game and it worked pretty fine and had better fps on the menu/home page of the game but when i played the game, my fps droped from 49 to 8. when i open the game, fps is high but when i start the chapter or gameplay, the fps drops. If ur on the home page/menu of the game.
Let's say in GTA 5, in the menu, The game isn't loaded which means ur pc is consuming less ram and graphics because there is nothing in the menu. But when u START the game, it uses everything to load the buildings, cars, shadows graphics and other functions of the game.
U can see that in every game. And it's a very common thing ,no need to worry ❤️

I know its late but @ycyashi6252 says you can take QWORD 64-bit if you have 64 bit, or if you have 32 bit you can go as per video's tutorial.

hi, do you have any advice for playing in 1440p (3440x1440) with a GPU with 4gb vram (details at a minimum)?
it's a Mi8/Radeon R9 nano instict. I know very well that it could not be, but I do it anyway, I ask in case anyone knows about some software settings, BIOS or on the AMD panel or some setting / technology developed within the game settings (in addition to low details) to make the card go better in 1440, make the vram work better or try not to saturate.

4GB cards cannot play any real games at 1440, maybe PUBG or DayZ or Sims 4. 4GB is not NEARLY enough for HD textures. Use Radeon Super Resolution to upscale from 1080x2540 if you're going to do anything.

see if you do this math calculation of cross multiplication Like
---> for Eg: if 2,048 mb = 256mb
then 12,288mb = ?mb
Then you can cross multiply 256mb to 12288mb (12 bG),
you will get the answer as 31,45,728 (3072 Gb)
now divide 31,45,728 with 2,048 (2 Gb)
you will get the answer as 1,536(1.5 bG)
So if your pc or laptop has 12 Gb ram you can input 1526 MB (1.5Gb) of vram

I could not get it to change from 128 MB VRAM to 1024 MB. I have an Intel GMA 4500M graphics, with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, and 8GB RAM. I did the steps and the dedicated video memory did not change, it stayed at 128 MB.
