    I believe anything from D5 - F5 was a mixed voice and above that was much more head voice than chest. I don't think that high A5 was in the chest at all but, eh, it comes down to how a singer feels it and is hard to tell just from hearing.
    Thanks for making this video!

      Joseph Owens Pretty much anything past maybe Bb4 or B4 is mixed for sure. Almost everything in the 5th is heady especially past D5. No male can hit a freaking A5 in chest it’s impossible.
      None of this is a knock on him at all, moreso the uploader saying that. He still has a great range that sounds good throughout. Some of his higher chest mix stuff can sound rough but as somebody not trained he definitely has chops for sure

      bubba lums Just because he doesn’t know what Head voice is doesn’t automatically mean he hit it in chest. That’s like saying a baby doesn’t fart because it doesn’t know what it is
      I’m sorry I don’t want to argue a bunch over something small. I don’t see why it can’t just be accepted that a male cannot hit an A5 with a majority of chest resonance. Even the greatest singers in the world can’t that’s a fact. It literally doesn’t matter at the end of the day, because singing a good A5 is not an easy note for many males to sing, we all know Caleb is a beast

    • @micahlumsden3733
      @micahlumsden3733 6 лет назад +3

      Thats true, obviously, but even so i would hesitate to call it impossible. In any case it can be difficult to simply hear the exact technique being used and doesnt really matter as long as it sounds good. But yeah; Caleb is quite the singer.

    I think his F#5 is the highest mixed note... that G5 and A5 are not mixed voice at all... compare his F#5 and G5 and how see the color of his voice changes and turns lighter.
    Now the D2 and E2 sound like autotune, don’t sound natural, sound very artificial. However his voice is really high for a baritone.
    That is my point of view

  • @Gaming4Justice
    @Gaming4Justice 6 лет назад +8

    Lol I'm a bass and I can barely reach D2. The lower end for him does sound quite weak and forced tho.

    • @naturlichich218
      @naturlichich218 6 лет назад +13

      A bass who can barely reach a D2 is no real bass. Or at least not yet, depends on your age.
      To be a bass you should at least be able to sing (sing, not hit. That's a huge, important difference) a powerful E2 (mezzo-forte or forte). And that's not the case if your D2s are only barely hittable.
      Sorry if I frustrated you but you're most likely no bass.

    • @Gaming4Justice
      @Gaming4Justice 6 лет назад +6

      I don't know the loudness of E2 but I've performed with it, I can use it. And besides, my teacher, a professional singer, who is a low bass(I think he goes to C2 as I've heard him sing that low), told me that I'm a bass.
      Also I'm 18, in the upper range G4 is last usable but can get A maybe B

    • @naturlichich218
      @naturlichich218 6 лет назад +2

      I think you're more like a baritone or a bass-baritone than a bass, however in a 4 voiced choir you would be a bass (but there are no further classifications like baritone, baritenor or bass-baritone). G4 is too high for a real bass (look at Avi Kaplan, his G4s are falsetto notes).
      I am an aspiring bass as well. My total range is G#1 - C#5 (I hit a G# in chest only once when I was really sick and every note above F4 is mixed voice, I neither have head voice nor falsetto [or at least I can't use it]).
      My average lowest note is probably C#2 or C2 and my average highest note is Eb4 or E4, I guess.
      Anyway, my lowest in choir usable and projectable note might be Eb or D2 (which is the lowest one I've ever had to sing). If I'm supposed to hit a low F, it sounds really full, dark, low and loud, same thing with an E2. But producing an equally sounding Eb2 is pretty hard, a loud D is almost impossible without some help of vocal fry.
      So I think our voices are pretty equal and I would consider myself as a bass-baritone

    • @Gaming4Justice
      @Gaming4Justice 6 лет назад +2

      I'm not even sure where I sit with the mix voice. As I was doing my entry for the choir and I was put into second bass, I was told that I had natural mix voice in higher register somewhere aswell that I wasn' aware of. But I mean with like even singing without a microphone, the E2 is clearly hearable. Maybe a bass-baritone, but I know that I have the required range to be considered a bass. It seems like ameteur musicans have different ways of indendifying where bass range starts from. Some people have even said that you need to have C2 in your chest to be a bass. It's kinda all over the place. G4 isn't that high of a note for basses to hit. Tim Foust has sang a Bb4 or B4 from chest and Geoff a C5 I think? They can both sing down to F1 aswell. I think I've also heared my teacher sing a G4 but well he had to make his voice louder for it to support it.

      In case you aren't joking, I'll explain you what is bass voicetype. The fact, that a singer can hit notes of bass academic tessitura (E2 and below) doesn't mean he's a bass. Any bass must be able to sing an E2 loud enough to be decently loud on this note in an opera hall without a microphone. Average trained Bass cantante full chest range (not workable range for operatic singing, which is E2-E4, but full range) would be around any given day B1-F4.
      Caleb Hyles is *really* far from having workable operatic E2, he is a high tenor, not even baritone, because of his tone of voice, which is the main factor when we are classifying a singer with wide range.
      My full range in any given day is ~C#2-F4 and B1-A4 on a really good day, but I'm a bass-baritone, not a true bass, because of my tone of voice
