- I personally prefer travelling in Europe by train because I find it more convenient, relaxing and more scenic. In this video, we travelled to Prague as the first stop of our holiday in Europe. It was a long journey but we enjoyed it because we’ve seen many countryside of different countries and be able to experience first class travel.

The train journey from York, UK to Frankfurt, Germany took place on the 31st August. There's a direct train from Brussels to Frankfurt but we had to transfer due to cooling system problem of the train. The train journey from Frankfurt to Prague took place on the 1st September. The journey from Frankfurt usually goes via Cheb but due to cancelled train we have to travel via Schwandorf all the way Prague using the same ticket.
It is indeed relaxing and more scenic traveling by train.

Interesting - what a long journey! The trains looked nice though - it's a great way to travel. Did you have to book all legs of the journey separately since they were different companies?
Yes it was a long journey but I enjoyed it because it's less hassle in terms of luggage allowances, security checks unlike going through the airport and lesser carbon prints :). York to London was booked separately but London to Frankfurt was booked through DB www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml, unfortunately they have now excluded traveling via Eurostar. You could still book ticket through DB but originating from Brussels. The journey from Frankfurt to Prague was booked through www.cd.cz. Most European trains are spacious, comfortable and cheaper that UK train :). If you plan to go to Prague, I recommend going to Cesky Krumlov about 3 hours train ride from Prague and its a very beautiful town to visit. You can also check www.seat61.com for planning railway journeys.

i use to ride eurostar para sa transportation ko. pag nag pupunta ako milan, roma, and venice nung nag wowork pa ako dun. very reliable kasi sila

I'm curious, as I may be making the same journey but from Sheffield, how much were the tickets in general (if you don't mind me asking) my friend is wanting to drive but if it is reasonable I may be able to persuade to travel by train, that and I can assume parking in Prague may be troublesome aswell.
Hi. If you book the ticket in advance, you may be able to get it cheaper but please be aware that there may be some changes on your train schedule or route prior to your travel date especially if there are maintenance work being carried out. To be honest the train tickets from York to London and Eurostar are way too expensive than the train tickets from Frankfurt to Prague. Excluding the overnight stay in Frankfurt, the train tickets were about £230 (UK to Prague with business class from Frankfurt to Prague).
Not to discourage you from taking the train, but for factual record, parking in Prague outside of downtown isn’t necessarily horrible, just potentially expensive. If you would stay at a pension or a hotel, they would provide you with a parking place, though, possibly for a fee. Check with your accommodation provider, in case you should not convince your friend for train.

It tends to give much better local info than Google Maps. It’s also available as a mobile application (just search for Mapy.cz in the store).
If you should need to pay for public parking, knowing this mobile website may help a lot: mpla.io
The most expensive part might well be Sheffield-London, I'm afraid. But there is an interesting alternative, take a train to Hull, board the ferry to either Rotterdam or Zeebrugge, and make your way across like this. From Amsterdam or Brussels, you can buy a ticket to Prague, and if you book at cd.cz, you can buy them at a bargain. The tip is to buy a ticket with a *VIA* station, there are some bargains on the main route via Berlin and Dresden, but they get sold out fairly quickly. Via Cheb you can often buy a cheap ticket the day before. All the way from Brussels or Amsterdam... with cheap, I'm talking less than €30 in 2nd, less than €40 in 1st.
Of course, not before this whole virus thing blows over...
But to have an idea, I added together for 2: £29 advance single Sheffield-Hull, from £130 for Hull-Rotterdam with a night cabin, some €33 for Rotterdam-Amsterdam, and finally from around €55 (prices are quoted in CZK and can fluctuate) for Amsterdam-Prague via Cheb. That includes a night on the ferry with a shared cabin.
This report would be useful if you said how much the whole thing cost including the night in the hotel and exactly how long the entire trip took.
The reason I'm asking is I can fly from the US to Prague for about $750 and the whole thing takes about 10 hours.
Thank you for watching and your comment. The reason why I didn't mention any prices because the train fares are subject to changes so with the schedules of train. Prices varies closer to your chosen departed date. As you know the trip was last year and the prices have already changed. I took this journey to experience something different and to see more rather than taking a flight.

Thanks for the comment, because we spent overnight in Frankfurt it took us almost two days of travel. The trains were comfortable so it was a pleasant journey.
