    First review of this I've seen on RUclips! Was hunting for this at the recent Virginia ABC drop but couldn't find it at 5 stores.

      Thanks, always hope to get the first review out. But sometimes they don’t hit va quickly, but got lucky this time. I only saw it at one of the stores I stoped at. Fingers crossed for more to drop

    Good review. Can you do a head to head with this and the Cellar Aged?

      Sadly don’t own one, but was able to try my buddy’s last year. The cellar age has more darker oak notes compared to the lighter French oak notes in the heart release. Pretty sure the cellar age would win, but really only know in a blind. Maybe I should try to convince him to open his cellar age again.

    Seared means they used flame to sear the surface of the barrel. Toasted is done by IR to get deeper into the wood.
    The Hart release dropped recently at some VABCs during their bottle release. Not all stores had it. Never saw it, but stores to the south of me had it.
    I didn't care for the MM46 CS at first. Let it sit and now it's good. I think my palate had to adjust to it. The MM CS was great from the gitgo.

      Thanks for the info! Learn something new everyday. I'll need to go back to the MM46 cask some day. I dont own one but a friend has a bottle.

    You should try not to cut the videos when you're doing reviews, I would enjoy seeing the whole review without cuts

      Thanks for the input! I've thought about doing that (SLB style), but the video would have so much more dead space while I'm tasting it. The video would be double as long. Maybe if I planned my notes prior to the video I could do it, but I'm afraid it would feel unnatural.

    I'm wondering if they are discontinuing the 46 cask strength

      Hard to know without any press release. But it could simply be skipping a production run this year with the heart release and come back next year

      Not whiskey of the year level, but worth trying if you find it

    Sounds like an interesting pour and like you said, something to compare to the 46 cask strength 😆. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks! Even if I don’t make a video, a comparison I want to do

    If they could bring back 10 Mocha staves, that would be insane. I have to agree about the tannic aspect in 46 Cask. The older releases were much more fruity.

      Based on your picture, you look like a Maker’s fan! That would be cool for a future release. Fingers crossed

    So the Heart Release is all *French oak* staves? No American oak staves?

    • @BourbonRetriever
      @BourbonRetriever  2 месяца назад

      It’s originally in an American oak barrel, but when it gets to finishing, they did choose only French oak staves

      @@BourbonRetriever so is the only difference from the Makers 46 offerings the time that it’s finished in French oak?

    • @BourbonRetriever
      @BourbonRetriever  2 месяца назад

      @@rhayes458 I’m not sure. I was trying to find differences, but struggled. Seared v toasted. Maybe the batching or how long they finish the whiskey.
