    Shallow pot. Loose, chunky soil mix. Dry between waterings. Bright light. You can cut single mature leaves, leave their stem on, and pop them into the soil, the leaf stems will grow little tubers. Can also take a stem and curl it onto the soil, mist every other day or so, and roots will grow at the leaf nodes. I love this plant, which I’ve always called a “Rosary Vine”…..I have one that is over 20 years old. Sometimes I cut it back to soil level, and that helps to make the top fuller again. Such a great plant, and so tolerant of neglect.

    hi! can you do a video more in depth about light and watering? like showing areas in your house that are considered certain types of light, fully explaining how to test the wetness of the soil on a bunch of different plants, etc. thanks!

    Interesting what you say about the light because I have this growing in a room were virtually no other plant will grow because of low light. There is light. But not a lot. And no direct sunlight. But this plant is happy ... Growing like mad as you say. Found it by chance in my local garden centre. Really love it.

    Thanks for the video! I recently bought one and have been coiling the strands on top of the soil in hopes of making it full. Do you know if top watering would be bad for the strings and leaves up there? Also, I saw you mentioned pins. What kind of pins? haha

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 года назад

      So far the coils haven't really ended up doing much on the top of the soil so not super sure.. I don't think top watering would be an issue unless you're watering so much that they're sitting in pools of water, which I'm sure you're not anyways! I just had a few pins laying around from something I swapped I think. But they're kind of like staples with long legs that hold the stem/nodes to the soil. But you can use stretched out bobby pins, just be careful not to push down too hard! Best of luck!

    Hey question :)
    I have SOH growing and everything looks good. What is really noticeable is that lots of flowers come out! Each pair of leaves produces at least one flower and sometimes 2 and 3 flowers. Does this indicate that the plant is healthy? Thanks for all the info

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  3 года назад +1

      Ah that's wonderful! Yes a healthy plant will produce flowers! Eventually those flowers will die back but as long as the leaves aren't dying, you shouldn't have anything to worry about!

  • @Jasmine_Sangma
    @Jasmine_Sangma 3 года назад

    I don't understand why but my SOH simply hates me. When I first bought it it was full on the top and was just about 6 inches long. Within a month it started dying on me as the strings were falling. Then I realised that the soil was not a well draining soil at all. I don't understand how did the plant shop manage to grow that much. I immediately repotted it with succulent soil mix and a little cocopeat. However, I could just save 2-3 strands from about 12-15 strings. All the others were goner. The problem now is that although the 2-3 strands survived, they aren't growing much. Just about 2-3 inches from the top and that is the same for the past 5 months. The top and old leaves are way bigger than the bottom/ new ones. They are extremely tiny. I am starting to hate this plant. Please help if anyone has any suggestions.
    1. I water only when the soil is dry but mist it once a week.
    2. Sits on the window sill outside on the balcony. So, it gets plenty of indirect sunlight.
    3. I fertilize it once a month.
    Please tell me where I am going wrong.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 года назад +2

      Oooh super exciting! New leaves will grow from the ends of the chain, not at the soil. If your ends are a looking a bit dead, you can give it a haircut back to where it's looking healthy and it'll keep growing from there

    My plant’s leaves have some yellow ones at the bottom and the vine is really thin. Is it dying?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  4 года назад

      The vines on mine are thinner at the bottom too. I think that usually happens over winter when it's not producing as intense growth. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Yellowing leaves tends to mean overwatering, do you check the soil before watering to see if it's dry?
