is it safe to use copper anti seize on back of brake pad? is it safe on rubber piston boot?
I dont seee why not.
torque specs?
gonna have to look it up sorry
One side was a 15mm, then immed after the opposite side was a 12mm. What?
Exactly
What should I do if one of the springs pops off
put it back on
Don’t you need to spray some brake lubricant on the new rotors?
Lubricant? Nooo.
@@automafiaracingso i basically just need to swap them out and I’m done?
Clean with brake clean and then seat them but yez
If those springs come off every time I try to install the break pad is it fine with out them or does it need to have them?
Put then back on
Did/do you need to do anything with the break reservoir? Open it up while doing the job itself or anything like that? Or simply do this job and good to go? @AutoMafiaRacing
Yes you add fluid when needed
he didn’t clean the hub flange
Good catch.

Great video. Replacing brakes these days has been made so easy, not at all like the years past, drums are a nightmare.
very true
No one has ever answered this… I’ve changed rotors pads , calipers, and even hoses on my rear brakes.. pins move smoothly and are greased my driver side rear outside pad always wears to nothing while plenty of pad on all others.. I’ve swapped pads and rotors at least 4 times each calipers once hoses once and it always happens about 3 weeks to 2 months after swap… what can be causin this one pad to wear uneven.70k mikes but this has been happening since 30k curious if anyone has any idea at all what to do
ABS module sticking
@@automafiaracing that cold be my issue any idea what is the cheapest and best fix for this? Turning abs off? Not sure if I even can
New abs unit
Did my brakes pads only last night and now my brake pedal is soft. It pumps to a hard feeling if I press it a few times. I don’t know what’s going on. I dropped it off at a shop to inspect
Sounds like air in the lines. Id bleed the brakes
@@automafiaracing they bled them and the abs. They said the fluid was thick. It’s a little better but not as good as it was before I swapped the pads. I greased the hell out of the calipers boots and everything else that needed it. Maybe a calipers piston seized up?
Hard to eay
is it normal for the brakes to squeak a little bit as you brake if they are new? asking for a friend. just did his last night. also we overtightened one of the sleaves for the 12mm and so its spinning freely but it feels snug, would he be good?
A lot of times new brakes squeak.
@@automafiaracing you sure the rears dont get used at all? Literally after the front was replaced, we tried listening to his car and i got out and when he passes me outside of his car, its a constant squeaking from his rear wheel. Just as he drives and as he brakes. We even pulled the ebrake hard at 25 mph just to see how bad his rears were and it was not slowing down much at all.
Thanks
Youre welcome
For some reason when i went to check my oil today, last couple inches of dipstick does not go in smoothly. It felt like something metal was in the way and rubbing against it, have to force it alittle in order to seat the dipstick.
interesting try flipping it 180
@@automafiaracing tried that too,its the same. I noticed another thing if i insert the dipstick with lettering side facing me vs lettering side away from me i get slightly different oil reading about 1-2mm difference.
Weird
so are the fronts what stop the vehicle when driving or is it the rears? or both? imma replace mine and my buddies. also we both have a lurching sensation when having to brake decently to heavily.
they work together to stop the car. the ebrake just does the rears alone.
Is there a way I can message you and ask you some questions about some issues after I installed my new pads and rotors?

So if I'm understanding correctly, the front and rear jobs appear to be pretty much the same. Except I'll need the special tool to TURN the rear piston open, as opposed to just being able to push it back like the front, yes?
I've done my own front brakes on my 2013, but I've never done a rear brake job; so this video was a huge help. Thanks so much for posting!
pretty much
The little spring things on my pads keep poppin off
Any idea how to keep em from poppin off
they can be annoying
Did anyone notice that if you are replacing the slider clips that there is “right” and a “left” (so to speak) clip? I had a hell of a time getting the pads in until I realized I had the clips oriented incorrectly.
Didnt notice
Thanks guys for this video I have a 2012 V6 and looking to do the brakes myself and this will help a lot and will save me a lot of money doing it myself. I’m looking to replace the shocks and struts but was thinking about lowering it I’m looking at ordering some kyb shocks and struts I’m not looking to spend a lot of money just looking for factory reliability and to lower the car and I found out that TEIN makes a set of lowering springs for my car do you think I should be good with that set up ? I have seen you can use aftermarket springs with factory replacement struts and shocks. I already have new strut mounts because those are bad and need replaced
Happy to help
Do you need that spin tool for the rear or is there another way go do it
yes you need it
There is a tool you can buy, it's square and each side is a different size that pertains to your year for the rear cylinder compress/turn I bought it at Advance Auto its better than having to get the tool kit just tell the parts guy what you need it for I think it was like 12 bucks at least you'll always have it with your tools good video you may want to add brake bleeding and master cylinder filling to help more. Thank you love the mentioning of how important it was to clean the rotor afterwards to avoid warpage
Correct. We didnt bleed these because no lines were popped so its not technically needed
Anti seize on the caliper sliding pins!
Good advice
Awesome video! Great advice and help thank you!
Youre welcome
Torque specs?
2 ugha duggas
Great video
Thanks
Found it!
good
So you don't need to bleed out the brakes or anything? Literally just taking the bolts off, replacing everything, then reinstalling?
We normally would suggest a brake flush and bleed but its not always required no.
👍👍👍
glad you enjoyed it
Bring back project hurricane, i miss it 😭
When i get back from PRI, Im going to asses the damage. Also we're working on a supercut of the entire build!
You don't bleed the brakes
? We didnt no. There is no need we didnt open the fluid system
Torque specs dude. Some guys have too much arms and can break bolts. Ive done many before I knew better. Might want to add this info or you are going to be taken to court. Or put a disclaimer so some moron wont try to take you to court
It's in the description.
You cant just skip past the 2 toughest parts of the process. Lol i use the old break pad and piece of wood and squeeze it with a c clamp and it compresses. Its tough putting it back over sometime, so use some elbow grease
We dont. You spin it
@@automafiaracing the lies!
Is it the same pads and rotors for an s550? Same installation?
Not same but close
