In 1975/76, I used to get lunch on Fridays at Ponderosa. They had a RibEye Steak Sandwich, fries and soda for $2.08. They were charcoal broiled back then!
Ponderosa brings back bittersweet memories. When my father was ill in the mid 1980s, he and my mother would stop at one in a nearby town and they would eat lunch before his doctor's appointments. Sadly, he passed away a few months later. They opened a Ponderosa in my town about 4 years after he passed, so he never got a chance to visit it. My mother and I would go several times a year and enjoyed the buffet. But new management took over the restaurant, and legal troubles led to it's closing ( the ones in the nearby town had closed some years before). I wish that there was one nearby -- I miss it a lot.
So very sorry for your loss. I hope your memories of your Dad comfort you. I used to go to Ponderosa in Milwaukee , WI when I was a kid. I wish there was one by me here in Northern CA.
@@thegreatindoorswithedandmi7880 id go with my wife Graceanne the kids and in laws to eat at the one in Carrollton OH id treat them all to dinner on several occasions was reasonable. And everyone got to eat what they wanted. And especially during the Lenten season they'd have good fish and shrimp at the buffet bar.
The last time I was at that one, they only had a salad bar… just salad and soup.. nothing like the all you can eat buffet that most of the other locations had or have.
There was a Ponderosa in Carrollton, OH (30 miles south of Canton, OH) and it was reportedly the top earning Ponderosa restaurant in the country and even they closed down. Sure do miss that salad bar.
I'm from the UK and visited a Ponderosa in Orlando when I was 16 and have never forgotten it as I had never seen anything like it before back then. Happy memories of a great holiday on international drive.

I worked at the Hudson NY location for a few years during nursing school. I crave the sirloin tips and baked potato !! We took bags and bags of food (especially the wings) to the after work parties. It all got thrown away every night and it was a ridiculous waste of food, so when the managers were told that employees were no longer able to take food anymore, even they were mad. They made a point that if they didn’t see food taken and not thrown away, they marked it all as thrown in the dumpster. The employees also ate very well during the “All You Can Eat” steak and chicken promotions too. 😁😆 The tips were CRAP though.. People, tip the people who feed you… they live in well below minimum wage. Then minimum wage was $4.25 an hour and we were paid $2.19 an hour,,,, having 10 tables an hour and not even making $2 in tips is ridiculous.
While i appreciate your enthusiasm and the nostalgia of it there are much better places to get a steak dinner for the same price (or even a little less) but still a great video.
I miss ponderosa they had good food good customer service in the stores are very clean in the sale prices in the prices of the food were reasonable and I think ponderosa is better than Golden corral buffet their buffet was dirty store bad customer service bad food the bathrooms are very dirty it looks like they don't clean up there at Golden corral I live in Green Bay Wisconsin the Green Bay store in the Appleton store when our business at Golden corral they suck

I would go with my parents to ponderosa after Sunday mass. That was my highlight as a kid on Sunday's.

When I was a kid the Pinderosa I went to with my parents had life sized cowboys in a coral rustling up the steer. It was very cool
