The most memorable scene for me when I see the little boy skiing in his mother shoes, it's cute and inspiring what a spirit!
Hahahah
Only one disappointment about this interesting documentary: many questions this lady asked to the Afghanistan’s were answered only in their own language leaving us wondering what they said. It would have given us more of an understanding of their daily lives if interpreted in English.
My dad is afghan I've been to afghanistan
@@itsjustseema Im Afghan too!
Agreed! It’s like they forgot to translate it for us
Don’t worry mate you didn’t miss much. This lady only used 10-15 words she knew and didn’t understand more than 10% what they were saying either 😂. Trust me, I know Farsi and Pashto.
Like that boy was saying, he likes skiing cos it makes him feel like a bird in sky, yet lady is talking about him being a ski champion 🙄. You can tell from her face, she has no ideas, while she’s just relying on her laurels(connections) of before Talib times. Great travel infomercial nonetheless
I love that she speaks the language and loves the country. I like her attitude and appreciation of the culture 😁
Well I suppose we have to watch Afghan Islamic adulation sometime.
She is so biased and ethnocentric.
She complains at all chances she gets about the afgans not being wenternized. Not every one worships the west.
I love my people I love HAZARA I’m HAZARA of Ghazni of Afghanistan 🇦🇫
ye are descendants of Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram,
Saying a special prayer for the most beautiful people of Afghanistan!
Hasbun Allah wa Ni mal Wakeel...Ahad❤️👍
I consider myself to have been so lucky to have seen those amazing Buddhas. I was there in the 1970's. It is unbelievably sad that they no longer exist.
I love the ease she moves among the people.; she has my admiration.
Well I suppose we have to watch Afghan Islamic adulation sometime.
When someone really likes human beings they feel comfortable with them no matter how much different they are and people from other races, cultures, languages and religions can feel the good vibe toward them. Also it is the way your parents raised you.
Every country is beautiful, 🙂 we just need to change our mindsets..🤟🏻
Afghanistan is so or so beautiful..
Afghanistan is so beautiful .
Well said :)
Exactly
Originally from India, Buddhism came to Japan via China, Sogdia and Bactria. Yes, what is today Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan were once centers of Buddhist learning.
@rubina There was no India also. The present day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were all full of princely states ruled by kings and queens. Definitely you should go back to school and learn history. India & Pakistan (West + East Pakistan) both were born in 1947 only (Pakistan was born 1 day earlier).

The worst thing that happened to Afghanistan was Islam?????Dont put your shield up and just think of Afghanistan as Buddhist nation? I can almost guarantee you that it would not be in Situation it’s in???
An excellent and beautiful documentary by Lyce Doucet who loves Afghanistan. I love they featured what a village life looks like and the countryside. I pray that Afghans will see their country restored to peace and to its former glory and beauty.
My tears rolled as i saw the incomplete Bamiyan without Buddha statue........
Really appreciate your efforts. Great coverage. A great documentary.
the situation is worst in Afghanistan atm, the only thing we people can do is to pray for peace
I love the way she speaks Farsi. it sound sweet
I definitely agree with everything they are saying that doesn't include a translation and for some reason we are expected to understand it. Well done.
Oh don't you worry! She makes sure you understand what she feels you need to understand
Instead of needing to understand the words, I felt the real-ness of the beautiful place and people and empathize with their hardship in a gorgeous sliver of this planet where at least they aren't at war with each other.....thanks so much to Kate Humble for her documentaries. She works hard and has an embracing spirit that the world needs more of. Peace!🌏🌎🌍❤
This isn’t Kate humble…
I was in this area during 2003-2004, 99% percent of the people just wanted to live their life in peace, could care less about the U.S forces or the taliban. The Afghans I encounter were really decent, made this awesome 🐐 stew and Chai tea that to this day is the best drink I've ever had. It's really crazy to walk through some of these places and not much has changed since the days of Alexander.
Chai is tea mate. Calling Chai tea is like calling Jungle, Jungle Forest. I know you know lol.
If the people of Afghanistan are not willing to stand up to an extremist group that doesn’t give women any rights, then I’m gonna start losing respect for Afghan people. That’s the bottom line. I’m not gonna be passionate for their human rights and they don’t even care about their own
A good documentary, shame there's no English translation for the foreign speaking contributors.

What about if someone doesn’t want to have translator.
Who are you again??
Use your big eyes
So beautifully presented... thank you for making such a great effort to show the part of village life as well
Hope she does another documentary again 10 years after
guys i am from Afghanistan ,she can speak fluent Persian i do appreciate her Persian i love my country Afghanistan :) if anyone has problem in translation let me know i will translate it.
Hi r u single ..want to make frends to other country
Afghanistan is still as beautiful as it was after 43 years of war. The food is the best in the world and the people are very friendly and loyal
Watching this 17/8/21 and my heart is breaking for the Afghan people 🥲
mine too. I've always been interested in Afghanistans culture. I fear I will never be able to enjoy it. and I cry as I know I can't comprehend the loss of all the afghan people who are not able to participate in their own lives and communities because or war, disability, and death.
Yes watching also, so sad to see what is happening now.
same here!
The problem is Islam itself!!!
Why ?!
Your Farsi is perfect. Thank you for loving Afghanistan and it’s people.
She is a woman and journalist...such a good match for a real documentary on this time...to day for me is 27-8-2021...and Afghanistan is under control of talebani 100%
God bless Afghanistan and it's wonderful people.
Once it was land of Buddhism and the land of peace...
Very well done. A great journalist -- even her soothing voice -- who knows that it's the people who matter, no matter the nation-state.
As one afghan I wish for that little girl wishes for education in blue mosque Mazarin and those bunch of girls in paicotal wishes to come true one day to see outside world and live in comfort and the ski boy as he said when I ski I feel like a free birds and I start singing. One day I hope to all afghans to feel free and not harassing of things. As a man my wish and hope is for women of that war land for one day let them to feel as women and human beings . And all children’s to live differently not like their fathers if they live like their grantpas life it worth them bcz still they can write not fire
In Islam a woman has a great place and most of Afghan women are living according to custom law but Islam has got rules for men and women
It’s pretty stupid that they don’t translate or give subtitles when people are speaking Urdu. I guess what they have to say is not that important? 🤷🏽♀️
I think it's Farsi and the copy is bootleg. The original had all that. Thank the spirits we've got this.
Do you understand urdu I am speaking urdu I am from Pakistan 🇵🇰 where are you from
Excellent documentary ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
Beautiful country. Nice people:)
May peace and prosperity come to the innocent people of Afghanistan. 🇮🇳❤🇦🇫
How does her scarf stay on and never slip off!?!
Probably secured by pins
God please save Afghanistan. The Taliban are evil 🙏🏼
Yes. The boy will be a ski champion one day
How can they expect us to understand without subtitles?
When she said they are used to war and are not letting it get in the way of living, it hit me: We are locked inside our houses on curfew and everything is shut down bc of Covid and they continue to live regular lives during the last 40 years of war
Incredible really isn't it.
Because these Covid Dictators are fooling and deceiving most of the citizens of the world
Fantastic documentary
Did she just tell Ahmed Wali Karzai that he's accused of being the main power broker in the Afghan drug trade as well as allegedly supporting the Taliban and that there's no smoke without fire? 32:00
She did. Fearless. Upfront.
Lyse the best!
Everything looks like 1000 years old like life is still no progress no development. My heart cries for Afghanistan Ya Allah bring peace and prosperity to this country. Ya ALLAH makes my dream true, they are our brothers and sisters we love you.
Choose Yeshua the Messiah of God.
why does she bother to talk to the people if they are not going to tell us what they are saying
Yeah I think documentary producer made the mistake of not adding English subtitles
@@ap.39315 No mistake here, just liberal left broadcasting. You'll hear everything you need to hear. Cheers 🥂

Thank you for this enlightening documentary. The little boys and their make-shift skis - how brilliant! I love their spirit! Just one note: The Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979; the Afghan people have not seen peace since then. It's a little longer than 30 years.
And the Americans with their Pakistani and Saudi allies started training and infiltrating extremists into Afghanistan to provoke the Russians into invading before then.
The original subtitles would be great. I think you'd have to upload them hard coded.
Very interesting documentary. Thanks for uploading, liked and subscribed.
very good documentary a really good insight into Afghan life.
Fascinating journalism. Doucet is amazing totally badass. Thanks for showing me a different Afghanistan.
Watching it da 2nd time ,amazing docu, great host, may there be peace here &a lasting one @that ✌🤔
Why is there no subtitles to the interviews she gave, they answered in their local language and she’s not interpreting.
Great doc, the presenter was amazing.
i appreciatenice showing real picture and culture of afghan people.
Wonderful person Lyse Doucet, I just became acquainted with her excellent reporting the last sad, tragic month. I hope she keeps safe. This documentary is priceless! I think this version (from the Tracks channel) is a bit of a bootlegged copy, missing features from the BBC original, with subtitles. Also there are parts with sound mixing loss, i.e., Lyse's voice can't be heard well above surrounding noise. But I'm glad this is available, now more than ever, a valuable document. Thank you, Tracks.
hope and dream for the Afghans
watching this after taliban took control over the whole country, and now this is just a very sad documentary. i hope things will change soon. love from croatia
Specially attraction Bamiyan and Mes Ayanak world oldest city at Kabul... Buddha the simbole of peace and world brotherhood... 🌼🧘♂️🌼
Long live INDIA🇮🇳 AFGHANISTAN 🇦🇫 FRIENDSHIP
Horrible closed-captioning. Music overpowers the dialog. Almost no translations. Aside from these issues, great coverage by the journalist.
Amazing reporter
I saw the buzkashi game in Rambo 3. Now i understand that it is Afghan traditional game.
An excellent documentary. Shabaas Lyse.
During my time in Iraq I loved the markets that would set up within our compound. Bootleg movies and more! Of course, my paranoia would set in at times thinking about where that money was going. Is it going to the people of Kirkuk/local town or is it going to fund our enemies. Made it out thank God. I miss the local people I worked with.
20:20 the girl says: “Herat is a cultural city. Men and women participate and EVERYTHING IS OK.”
I wish everything was like that for another ten twenty years and our people could stand on their own feet. How painful is that you see other countries play with your country like a piece of toy. 😭
A very good eye to see afgan people and it’s culture
Great effort.
Thanks.
If I ever travel to Afghanistan I want to travel with a group of people I would never travel by myself. I'm proud to be Asian. I didn't know who I was growing up I wasn't raised by neither one of my parents. I always say that I was a lost Orphan
So where do u live now and why u don't live with ur parents
Oh my beautiful country❤️. I really miss my country 😞😞
It's very informative and interesting documentary .thanks mam saty blessed, stay happy
When she described the blingy colorful dresses, she lightly touched upon the misery of an average afghani woman! I wish she didn’t brush off this important topic in today’s Afghanistan!
We miss a lot of what the locals say because the documentary maker forgot to hire an English interpreter or bother to put subtitles of the translation.
For those of you who are curious, Afghanistan is currently sitting still on a GDP per capita PPP of 2.200 (it shows how rich people are, adjust for the prices of things in their own country) and have had that for the last 8 years.
In comparison the US has a GDP per capita PPP of 62.500 and Germany has a GDP per capita PPP of 53.000.
That's Massive Attack's "Teardrop". I thought someone was calling me because that's my ringtone and my phone is near my laptop while watching this. Haha
Thanks 🙏
Great documentary, Well done.
We always need to finish our war!
Beautiful ppl 💕🤗🇮🇳❤️
A wonderful land of peodos and sunshine.
Good documentary
could someone please tell me what the music from 4:28 on is called id be very thankful🙏
Very intreresting documentari👍
Allah ibariki Afghanistan💖
ashhadu alla ilaha illallah, wa ashhadu anna muhammadarrasulullah
I like this documentary very much, however, the audio is really 💩, especially when the music plays on top of the voiceover. Also, I can't understand many of the native speakers without an English translation or subtitles available.
If you need someone to do your audio, email me! I need some work lol. 🐰🇺🇲💜🎸🎶🤝✌
It's a bootleg copy. The original has all that.
Buzkashi is a traditional Central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal. It is played primarily in Afghanistan. Similar games are known as kokpar, kupkari, and ulak tartysh in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
2011 BBC documentary presented by the great journalist Lyse Doucet
who is here after Kabul was taken
Excellent documentary. Thank you
Nice Documentry 👍
There is no English translation for the afghan language > So this documentary feels confusing. Would like the translation
Much love to Lyce my favourite reporter on the bbc
There is no translation into English.... how we are supposed to understand? just to guess.... ???
Learn Dari, Gul
Oh don't you worry, liberal media will nerrate a story for you!
Great documentary but it would've been alot better without the annoying music...
I love Afghanistan like an Afghan cause my ancestors were Afghan.
When the local language used by natives should have followed by English subtitles
Buddhism gives people hope. I respect it but I'm non religious I love Biology and History it teaches u of the world
Afghanis,what beautiful people
Those poor horses, what chaos!
I am interested in Lyse herself. Could we have a bit of her history?
Employed by the BBC for ever. There should be plenty under google.
I ALWAYS ASK MYSELF THIS QUESTION WHAT DO MUSLIMS THINK OF SOCIETIES THAT ARE AFFECTED BY ISLAM IN SUCH WAY THAT ITS HARD TO DEFEND THE PEOPLE WITHOUT DRAGGING ISLAM DOWN?
ALL of our lives for the most part, are determined by the day of our birth.
What Language was spoken in most of the documentary?
Translation in form of subtitle is basic and it is missing.
