@Corvus Glaive it's our previous Sudanese flag right after independence from the British colonization. The three colors symbolize the Nile= Blue, The desert= yellow and the forests and agricultural areas= green. Which are the unique combination of our various climatic zones. It was designed by a female Sudanese activist who worked as a teacher and was also an artist and designer. Originally the flag is ordered in blue/yellow/green but since it is not listed of course in modern apps so Gabon flag is mostly used to refer to the old Sudanese flag because both share same colors.

I spent some time in Egypt and found it very interesting that a high majority of the different Pharaohs, including the Sphinx all had their big fat African noses bashed in, broken etc. To me, it was very clear that the Pharaohs were from Black Africa, and were of Black skin. IDK what the h*ll they are teaching people in the USA, but I graduated archaeology (in Europe) and we normally learned things as what they were (from what we can see in the archaeological evidence). Think about the last ice age, Europe didn't exist right down to almost the Mediterranean, so all those fair skinned ginger people lived all across North Africa. That's who the Egyptians were. Now, when the ice melted and the Sahara went barren because of the increasing heat, those poor ginger folk moved north to a climate which suited their complexion better. Tracks documentaries are awesome. I don’t think the average tourist can go to the Sudan to visit some of these ancient places. Especially now where there’s travel restrictions, and civil unrest. I’m not too sure as a woman traveller that it would be even without the civil unrest a very receptive place to go to. As a man travelling in the Sudan making this documentary you make it look like it’s also friendly and easy where I don’t think it is.

Egyptians (Kemet modern day Egypt) and Kushites or Nubian (Kush or Nubia modern day Sudan), were the same people. Two Kingdoms same people! 1. Race as it is commonly understood today is a modern construct that nobody in the Middle Ages or earlier would have any concept of. 2. By the modern construct of race, that is blatantly not true, unless somehow when you look at the complexion of Egyptian people you consider them "black", which they generally don't consider themselves. If that is your stance, then why not go further and say all the ancient pharaohs were black? 3. There is no evidence to suggest that many of the pharaohs were "black" even before the arrival of the Persians or the Greeks. Ptolemy I was Macedonian (i.e. northern Greek) and the dynasty he established was Greek, and intermarried to a disturbing degree. Cleopatra, the last of the dynasty was ethnically Greek, yes there was probably some Egyptian in there, but it's highly unlikely she had any black ancestors among even her great grandparents.

Would they have defined themselves as white? Definitely not, they would have defined themselves and others by other means. E.g. religion or local geography would have been more important. Christian, Muslim or Jew, Catholic or Protestant. Or perhaps class, nobility or peasant. The concept of countries as we understand them today didn't even really exist until the 19th century. Black and white also rely on a contrast in society. Someone can't be called "black" unless compared with someone "white", and vice versa. Egypt had borders and trade with cultures with very different skin tones, from the Nubians, Phoenicians, Greeks and Persians. To them the Nubians would be dark, but this didn't have the same connotations of race as the modern constructs we have today. We also know from Egyptian art that there were connections with class and skin. E.g. nobility had fairer skin because they didn't work in the fields. This is similar to Medieval Europe or China. It wasn't connected to race. In fact class or religion would be a more popular way to divide and discriminate. If you're using simplistic modern concepts to define the race of the ancient Egyptians then you're not going to get far. You seem to be projecting more your own beliefs onto them.
Before Nubia the civilization in that region was named Ta Seti and it's actually older than Egypt itself, Egypt started off as a colony of Ta Seti and later broke away for Independence bringing with them the same culture, religion, hieroglyphs and much more. This was confirmed by the Greek historian Herodotus (the guy that history itself is named after) who visited Egypt in 450 B.C. to eagerly learn from a culture he deemed older than his own but when he got there he was shocked to find out the Egyptians themselves where descendants of an even older civilization south of Egypt and future up the Nile and all the customs and knowledge flowed down the Nile into Egypt (the Nile flows South to North not North to South)

The three colors symbolize the Nile= Blue, The desert= yellow and the forests and agricultural areas= green. Which are the unique combination of our various climatic zones. It was designed by a female Sudanese activist who worked as a teacher and was also an artist and designer. Originally the flag is ordered in blue/yellow/green but since it is not listed of course in modern apps so Gabon flag is mostly used to refer to the old Sudanese flag because both share same colors.

I spent some time in Egypt and found it very interesting that a high majority of the different Pharaohs, including the Sphinx all had their big fat African noses bashed in, broken etc. To me, it was very clear that the Pharaohs were from Black Africa, and were of Black skin. I want to watch this video because you can always learn something from whatever source. I love The videoography, however I found some of your information to be misleading in the documentary. Also find it strange that you kept trying to distance the Egyptians from the African continent as if they were from some other continent.I found it quite interesting how you portray the culture of the Nubians against Kamet or as you may know them as[ Egyptians]. eg. paved asphalt road connecting most cities of north Sudan to Aswan ( southern Egypt) ( the journey which took three days in the desert is done in daylight- less than 14 hours)
Our apparently innocent and adventure seeking host is literally nostalgic about his bloodthirsty forefathers who left no stone unturned to ruin and plunder the innocent people of Asia and Africa. Rather than feeling sad about the murderous legacy of General Kitchener, he is following the path of a murderer a century later as if he is on some holy pilgrimage. So sad!!!

IDK what the h*ll they are teaching people in the USA, but I graduated archaeology (in Europe) and we normally learned things as what they were (from what we can see in the archaeological evidence). I.e. who the original "Egyptians" were, and then Greek colonization/conquest, etc. I mean, one would really have to be blind not to see African face features in the older statues, etc.

Think about the last ice age, Europe didn't exist right down to almost the Mediterranean, so all those fair skinned ginger people lived all across North Africa. That's who the Egyptians were. Now, when the ice melted and the Sahara went barren because of the increasing heat, those poor ginger folk moved north to a climate which suited their complexion better.

Later islam took root in the Arab Peninsula and was introduced to Egypt but without much change to the gene pool. So black is a color (lol) but not an ethnic group. Tracks documentaries are awesome. I don’t think the average tourist can go to the Sudan to visit some of these ancient places. Especially now where there’s travel restrictions, and civil unrest. I’m not too sure as a woman traveller that it would be even without the civil unrest a very receptive place to go to. As a man travelling in the Sudan making this documentary you make it look like it’s also friendly and easy where I don’t think it is.

George Reisner was so shocked at what he found in Nubia, he never published an a official report caused he didn't think they were capable of making things so wonderful and beautiful. 1. Race as it is commonly understood today is a modern construct that nobody in the Middle Ages or earlier would have any concept of.
2. By the modern construct of race, that is blatantly not true, unless somehow when you look at the complexion of Egyptian people you consider them "black", which they generally don't consider themselves. If that is your stance, then why not go further and say all the ancient pharaohs were black?
3. There is no evidence to suggest that many of the pharaohs were "black" even before the arrival of the Persians or the Greeks. Ptolemy I was Macedonian (i.e. northern Greek) and the dynasty he established was Greek, and intermarried to a disturbing degree. Cleopatra, the last of the dynasty was ethnically Greek, yes there was probably some Egyptian in there, but it's highly unlikely she had any black ancestors among even her great grandparents.

Would they have defined themselves as white? Definitely not, they would have defined themselves and others by other means. E.g. religion or local geography would have been more important. Christian, Muslim or Jew, Catholic or Protestant. Or perhaps class, nobility or peasant. The concept of countries as we understand them today didn't even really exist until the 19th century.
Black and white also rely on a contrast in society. Someone can't be called "black" unless compared with someone "white", and vice versa. Egypt had borders and trade with cultures with very different skin tones, from the Nubians, Phoenicians, Greeks and Persians. To them the Nubians would be dark, but this didn't have the same connotations of race as the modern constructs we have today.
We also know from Egyptian art that there were connections with class and skin. E.g. nobility had fairer skin because they didn't work in the fields. This is similar to Medieval Europe or China. It wasn't connected to race. In fact class or religion would be a more popular way to divide and discriminate. If you're using simplistic modern concepts to define the race of the ancient Egyptians then you're not going to get far. You seem to be projecting more your own beliefs onto them.
