These comments tho.. like just because u didn’t see him praise the horse doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. The horse prob jumps like that all the time and he’s so use to him being so good.
yes i agree i think he should of patted his horse after jumping a six foot wall but, i mean that doesnt mean the horse didnt get any pats or love after the video was over
Sunshine isnt stressed that much, you can spot sunshine licking their lips, their ears dont go back. I've been riding since i was 7 and im 17 now so half my i have been riding. Look for details.
@@pfinhulk6726 it’s the rider holding on the reins tighter and pulling back on the bit, but the rider had to do this to get the horse steady and to gather him up!
@@aoifemaeflanagan1982 I was about to say that. 🤣 but yes, if you just let them go they'll jump flat and knock the fence down, have to do the same with our 30 year old mare. She doesn't jump or canter much these days (not under saddle anyway) but if I take her in the woods or a field on a hack as she's ex cross country I have to hold her back otherwise she would just bolt off, as she's on loan to an older lady.. Can't have her learning to jump bolt everytime she goes in the woods, I compromise on letting her jog. If I let her go she would easily clear the fallen trees which are a good 5ft off the ground. She's 15'2. But the mare loves jumping, just point her to it, she locks on like the horse in the video and never runs out.
You don’t know perhaps he did afterwards? Where there weren’t camera’s? And perhaps he holds the reins like that because otherwise the horse gets too exited? You don’t know the horse and how it behaves.
A disgruntled buyer rings the person who sold them a horse - “You said this horse could jump as high as a five foot fence and she can’t jump at all”. The seller replies, “Well neither can a fence!”
This is an example of a rider who doesn't care for their horse. The horse looked stress the whole time, and the rider didn't praise them. It still sucks to see some people like this, but there are plenty of good equestrians that care out there. :)
The horse was not stressed at all. The horse was excited so the rider had to hold him back so they could get over the jump. You can’t praise the horses in the ring so they probably got praised when they left the ring
This was a great ride, though I have only two issues I’m really seeing here. The rider should of praised the horse more after the jump, that jump was massive! He did the work lifting the man up over it give that horse some more love! But the second problem I’m seeing is yes the bit is extremely painful and he yanked on the mouth too much, again I see the reasoning as he wanted to control and keep his horse contained, but still the horse was uncomfortable and didn’t seem very relaxed. But again this comment is gonna get hate but the truth is; Bits cause pain just like whips do, get over it and face the facts. If you ride with a bit doesn’t mean you’re abusive or hate your horse, just it’s painful and discomforting. Me and my horse have such a better ride bit less he’s a thoroughbred and he’s wild at times but even bit less I can keep him contained easily without any harm done.
There's always one. Look there are loads and I mean loads of bits that have no place going anyweher near a horse. Me and my yard use snaffles or bitless on all the horses. But at the end of the day mild bits in good hands fo not hurt horses. They are a tool, and if used incorrectly can definitely hurt a horse, this video for example, the horse was clearly in discomfort. However so can bitless bridles. At the end of the day it is much more about using minimum force with the most gentle bit/bitless you can use. And as far as bitless and bits go people should pick what is best for their horse because they are all individuals. I ride my horse in both, she jumps better bitless but can't bear having all that pressure on her face doing dressage so she has a plastic French link snaffle. I don't think anyone should be telling others what to use unless it's clearly abusive (like this ride or where you see horses finish a round bleeding) because frankly it's no one's business.
Ya I noticed how the horse was jerking it's head a bit as well, tho it wasn't entirely consistent. Perhaps since he was nervous he forgot to be gentle with the reins... Idk I don't wanna jump immediately to him just being a asshole
Maybe since the rider was nervous he held the reins tighter than he usually does ,my horse opens his mouth like that even while being ridden bitless and with A properly fitted bit and fitted bridle ,damn even when I go full tackless he still does it! No problems it's just his thing ,he even does it out on the pasture ,yet he is a western horse and when I ride the reins are like at his knees and I barely use any hand movement so it's not hurting him
no the horse was just excited a horses hind is there power house so he was just using it to go faster and the rider was holding him back when u see him go right before the jump he was fine as soon as he had his head
I see a lot of comments telling the rider what he’s done wrong. I have attempted a 5’11 jump and so I wanted to clearify something’s. I had to hold my horses head so high. It wasn’t cruel, it wasn’t mean, I was simply keeping myself safe. My horse could have bolted at any moment. Specifically because of how high this jump is. And no, it’s not mean that this man praised himself more than his horse. That’s completely normal. If I jumped a 6’11, I would have been so proud of myself. Probably, yes, more than how proud I would be of my horse. Nobody can prove me wrong. Humans are made to feel special after accomplishing something few can do. Also, please educate yourself. Horses foam, that means they are comfortable in the position they have been placed in. And the bit automatically creates a foam build up, which isn’t bad. It keeps the mouth cool and the horse will not overheat. Lastly, the horse was simply pulling because, yea, the rider was holding the reins very short. This was to have control, the horse wanted its head to see the jump and if you look closely, the rider lengthened his reins 2 stoppers before the jump, then shortened them once more before launching. This gave the horse enough time to see the jump and know what she was up for. SO STOP COMPLAINING THAT THE RIDER DID STUFF WRONG!!!
What a looking nice horse! I like jumping big jumps on my horses who also love jumping but not huge cross-country jumps where my horse could get hurt , only easy safe ones🤭 show jumping jumps and walls fall down easily and are a bit safer and a bit bigger sometimes 🐩
Yes, they showed him giving the horse a pat, maybe you just missed it. Plus, I'm sure he was just so focused or relieved that he actually did it! It didn't show it right away! That's just my opinion, though.
I think that Jos Verlooy did an amazing job jumping that and training the horse however in my opinion he was holding the reins very tightly and he should have praised the horse more.
the rider is rude. praising himself more than he's praising the horse. he did not jump over that wall, the horse did. his reigns were way too tight. this height jumping should not be authorised or practiced as it is dangerous for the horse and the rider.
You ride western by looks of it. What would you really know about showjumping? Its a classical ridden sport. Edit: I could also point out i dont like the Western ridden parts where you slide stop your horse from speed and make it spin fast in circles, that could damage the horses legs, yet you do it anyway.
@@Kat-mu8wq I used to ride english, but switched to western as i was more fond of the way rider and horse communicate, so i do know about showjumping, dressage, cross country and sorts. The comment I made a year ago still reflects my beliefs after watching the video, but if i were to write it again, i would definitely not put it into words as i did :). But you can see how unnatural and uncomfortable the horse looks as the rider pulls on its reins, and thus his mouth. I thank you for pointing out sliding stops and spins. As I do agree with you that sliding stops aren't the best practices of western riding, spins on the contrary are totally fine when the rider asks the horse to do it the right way (i'm not specialised in reining so i couldn't tell you specifically how it's done).
Ig I had a horse, and they did this, I would be rewarding them and putting them SOOOOOO much that they would be sick of it lmao. He just praised himself and the crowd and his sponsors who were watching at home lmao
You can’t praise the horse much in the arena. He probably did when he left the arena and no cameras were around. He did give the horse a little pat in there though
you should not judge anything that you know nothing about! the bit causes absolutely no pain in the mouth. the bit is in the back of the mouth where there are no teeth. the horse can therefore not be hurt in any way! the bit is to keep more control over the horse and not to hurt the horse! do shut up about things you don't know about!
Then bit presses against the horses gums and mouth skin, bits cause pain to make the horse listen “behind the teeth” so the horse can’t get it out without the whole bridle coming off, how about you shut up and stop promoting animal abuse
Foaming in the mouth is good it means the horse was focused and was working well also he had to hold the horse back and control him from wrecklessly flying over the jumps
I swear everyone is a critic But I see what yall mean The rider was trying to get the right stride up to the jump, so he was trying to hold back a little but he cleared it, which was cool
I don't understand the negative comments. Very smart rider, awesome horse, fantastic team the two, horse and rider trust each other, he prepared himself and the horse in a very smart and professional way, the horse is super cool and satisfied after the jump. There is an inner connection between horse and rider that most people don't see. There are horses that don't need much physical praise, they are totally happy when the rider is happy and they know exactly they've done an extraordinary job and are proud of themselves. Have you guys talked to the rider? Such a jump is not possible without a deep inner connection. Such a connection is invisible for those who have never felt it. This was a high level performance of a dream team that diserves respect. I wonder how you would behave after such an adrenaline kick. And for those who do not know:you cannot force a horse to do this, they are born for this, you need the horse's will and consentment.
That poor horse's mouth I can't imagine what that Rider does his mouth and that bit looks painful his reins were way too short and the horse just wanted to run he knew his job clearly the rider didn't
Sammy N. Ahmed I can't say? he might of had too much energy and giving the horse too much leg, since he had spurs on. He might had forgotten that he had them on. I wasn't there, just my opinion and observation.

if you’re only ten you have no business on social media platforms😂 the video cuts off, you don’t know if he patted the horse when he got him down to a walk or not. but you should not immediately after a jump start praising and such (except with your voice) as it can easily unbalance the horse and make jumping uncomfortable. that’s like someone holding your hand through parkour and all of a sudden dropping your hand. you are obviously going to be a little shocked. if he has a contact all the way to and over the fence, and upon landing nothing but a hand patting his neck, it’s more likely to turn the horse off jumping than make him think he’s done a good job

Yes the rider praised himself first, but it takes a bunch of courage to jump that high even if your a professional at it I was looking at a jump thinking it was big (I was on a pony at the time and the jump was abt 2 foot) and I was struggling to go up completely and jump it well
Equine 123 you never need to have a bit. If you feel like you need more control over your horse then you need to do some more training or the horse might not like what you are doing with them.
@Nig Biscuit I understand that, but when gentle, it can prove just as helpful as bitless. I was trying to agree with you--instead of control over a horse, have control with it. In the end, its just a rider and horses preference.
As incredible as that jump was, my biggest issue was how hard the rider was yanking and see-sawing on the horses mouth. It already looks like he has a harsh bit in his mouth, no need to rip his teeth out, he looks like a calm horse. I don't understand some riders, I swear.
All the people on here. Look get a horse and jump 6ft 11 on a loose reign. And as far as not fussing the horse much afterwards perhaps the rider was high off adrenaline from basically flying a horse. If you can do both these things then hats off to you. The horse must have been in pain? Really? What so much so he clears nearly 7ft without looking like he's trying. I don't think it works that way probably got a hard mouth because horses in pain that they can't stand aren't really happy to do this. Chillout with the empathy. Life is painful as hell for all life in some way or another. Pain is unavoidable they kick and bite each other in herds and inflict pain on each other as a means to gain herd position pain is part of a horses life to a degree by thier nature. So please....
Echt so 😭
Iso 🥺😭

Is it just me or does there seem to be an issue with the horses right hind leg?
Yeah I noticed that
A disgruntled buyer rings the person who sold them a horse - “You said this horse could jump as high as a five foot fence and she can’t jump at all”. The seller replies, “Well neither can a fence!”
Yes
I'm so in ❤❤❤ with the ease and gracefullness with which this horse clears those hurdles. Whewww horsey was born for this ❤❤❤
This is an example of a rider who doesn't care for their horse.
Horseloversimmer you are so right!
Horseloversimmer everything in this video is not right and not meant to be seen.
Couldn’t agree with you more
I totally agree, but bits are abusive if you make them that way. The same can be said for bitless bridles.
I couldn't agree more with the comments. The horse was incredibly impressive and didn't get nearly enough praise!
His reigns were way to tight. Look at the horses mouth. They only open them up that wide when there is a bridle on if they are in pain
You're right. That's horse abuse.
Also the neck has some serious hypertension problems you can see that the neck has an unnatural curve at the end of that
Ya I noticed how the horse was jerking it's head a bit as well, tho it wasn't entirely consistent.
No problems it's just his thing ,he even does it out on the pasture ,yet he is a western horse and when I ride the reins are like at his knees and I barely use any hand movement so it's not hurting him
I agree those reins look to tight
Wow !! Wonderful horse & jump, congratts 👌👌🙏
This is incredible!! What a AMAZING jump and gorgeous horse
This is heartbreaking. Lost my main man last year, he was the best at pussiance always won. Miss you darling 💔😭
Seems to lame on the right hind?
After the jump I could see that
(First jump btw)
Definitely
He should have stopped after the first jump
no the horse was just excited a horses hind is there power house so he was just using it to go faster and the rider was holding him back when u see him go right before the jump he was fine as soon as he had his head
That was big and amazing! How??????? That is a special horse.
The rider wasn't needed and shouldn't be there.
More than None?😂
Beautiful. But dang, praise the horse, he did the work. ❤
the rider is rude. praising himself more than he's praising the horse. he did not jump over that wall, the horse did. his reigns were way too tight. this height jumping should not be authorised or practiced as it is dangerous for the horse and the rider.
pretty sure the height is fine, but i agree
I love how the horse on the way to the jump hesitated and was like are you serious, ok fine
Very beautiful riding and smooth jumps, but the bit is causing the horse immense pain, the horse is visibly uncomfortable and is foaming at the mouth
you should not judge anything that you know nothing about! the bit causes absolutely no pain in the mouth. the bit is in the back of the mouth where there are no teeth. the horse can therefore not be hurt in any way! the bit is to keep more control over the horse and not to hurt the horse! do shut up about things you don't know about!
Then bit presses against the horses gums and mouth skin, bits cause pain to make the horse listen “behind the teeth” so the horse can’t get it out without the whole bridle coming off, how about you shut up and stop promoting animal abuse
Lune Baekelandt the bit is literally made to cause discomfort in the horses mouth🤦♀️
@@lunebaekelandt7256 yeah cause a metal bar digging harshly into gums wouldnt be painful. You're an absolute dumbass.

The rider was trying to get the right stride up to the jump, so he was trying to hold back a little but he cleared it, which was cool

That horse cleared that so easy 😍
Woah! That’s a huge jump!!! That takes a ton of effort ✨

Sammy N. Ahmed I can't say? he might of had too much energy and giving the horse too much leg, since he had spurs on. He might had forgotten that he had them on. I wasn't there, just my opinion and observation.
