EVERYONE feels a sense of unsure nervousness sharing their achievements of their home haunt that is, until the screams start and the puddles are left on the pavement! Day runs are always going to look lackluster, that's the reason why its all painted black and done at night! Keep haunting! I hope that each and every year you have a more awesome event!
Definitely setup some fog (I recommend bog fog) and itll elevate the atmosphere a ton. Also I highly recommend setting up motion or beam controllers for your props, at least Mr. Dark.
@@sevian3066 There was fog last year. I just had it off for the walk through. And also, with the tent set up, the fog machine quickly fills the room a bit too much. I'm re-thinking the idea of adding fog INSIDE a tent from now on.
I use the Tingler plot with my haunts. I always tell the trick or treaters to scream if they find themselves getting scared. It's a way to stop the spooks from getting you. Best part is the pretend trick or treaters who play along to really sell the scares.
looks great! you had some great ideas. you know all animatronics are able to be used in motion detection mode. so mr dark doesn’t have to be on step pad. there’s a lot of work that could be used on tarp management by using. tape to tie down lose edges maybe a staple gun where it can be used to cut back on zip ties. i’ve been doing this for a few years now and have spent somewhere near $10000 on building. diy haunted houses can be fun but takes a lot of effort and planing. these are just ideas that have worked for me in the past. your lighting looks pretty good and honestly you did really well just a few adjustments could make it better.
Thinking about doing something like this for Halloween. Super love the use of tents, showing you don’t have to build it out of wood and metal and all that.
First of all Mr Dark is amazing, the extreme height of a dark figure is an instant scare for most people, if you have to look up to see what it is, then your brain tells you it's danger! Even for adults caught unaware, effective! As for the rest, brilliant, really good atmosphere, this is inspiring to me as I really want to set up one of these but on a more terrifying level, nice touch with little girl jumping out from around the corner, I bet she had a great time doing that!
That’s fantastic, we did a small maze in our garage one year, was a lot of fun and the community really got the word out. Had so many trick-or-treaters that year.
Like the use of the Ez Ups. We usually have tarps hanging from our Ez Ups to save on trash. Great job and way to utilize the space. Happy 2022 Halloween!
Nice job! I used to be in charge of doing our Home Owners Assc. Haunted house. I Divided our clubhouse up into sections and walkways with PVC pipe framework. One of the dark narrow hallways I hung 1# test fishing line from the ceiling down to about shoulder level, it simulated walking through spider webs, it really freaked a lot of people out.
Nice. I made a haunted tunnel in my yard this year, and was contemplating using pop up tents next year. Because it was A LOT of work to get everything up this year
Really cool stuff...I was thinking of making one a lot like this but in a more oldschool style, neon paint and all, maybe some pnumatic jumpscares, with literal bells and whistles, but that'll have to come later down the line. Already have a rubber bat from Dollar General that I painted up to look like it came from Funni-Frite in the 70's, lol. Thanks for pointing out the dropping device from spirit, if I can manage to find one that'll be helpful.
I like your ideas. My favorite thing about all of this is the creativity and freedom to create as you wish. Pop scares are common, everywhere. But creative scenes are beautifully admired.
@@whitewebshaunt4798 Totally agree...on that note of creative scenes I _would_ like it to be something cool to look at, not just generic jumpscares. Think Bill Tracy in terms of artistic design. Absolutely a team effort! I always find myself stuck inside the haunts as an actor. It'd be nice to step back and enjoy it from a far, but you know what they say... If you want something done right...
Thanks, Melissa! I love that sort of reaction. Halloween is such an exciting time - the ONLY time everyone hits the streets just to have fun and check out creations.
That turned out great. I wanted to make a small suggestion. I would spray paint the white frames of those tents black. I think they mess up your scenes. At night it’s legit.
For the press plate for the giant animatronic, I would create a rectangular step that would be above the pad. That way, wherever someone steps, they trigger the motion (the rectangular cover plate covering the entire surface area). Also, it would be good to have more scare actors in the haunt. The one you had did a great job! but more would bring it to life
me & my siblings came across a family home during Halloween once. They were able to turn their 2 door garage into a "crawl through" haunted house. You get your candy at the end of the lil maze. The kids of this family would hide inside the maze, grabbing your ankles, scream or pop their heads out in masks. It was a pretty cool lil set up.
Wow that was amazing, I’m planning on doing a canopy maze with some those pvc pipe arch ways to create seperate rooms or walkways to other themes. Awesome use of lighting and props. Did you use a fog machine as well?
Great idea for utilizing a small space I have thought about using my driveway thanks for sharing this it gave me some new ideas only wish I saw this earlier not sure I d have enough time to do something this year being 12 days out
You’re very welcome. A driveway is totally doable. And we sat last year’s haunt (this video) up in about 3-4 days. I didn’t want it all sitting up for much longer out in the front.
The lil monster thing at the end, rubbing its eyes and face was creepy, I don't think it was supposed to look so creepy, just a sleepy kiddo rubbing it's face, but the Improv deranged look was perfect timing 😆
Omg I love this!!! 😍 Would love to do something like this in the UK!! I was like oh thats good... and when everyone was screaming I was like oh it cant be that bad but guess I was wrong 😂 would love to make something like this!!
haha, yeah! Totally go for it. The videos, especially daytime walkthroughs, dont do haunts justice. And I have no intentions of going "fully scary" anyways. I do it for the creativity, the kids, and the entertainment.
You did a great job. I hope you and your family are planning on doing another one next year. I like how you had themed rooms. I really like the tunnel you created. We always go all out decorating the exterior of our "Haunted House". (This takes a lot of time especially when dealing with lights, music, etc.) Our neighborhood loves it...however, we have been talking about doing a haunted house. We want to do something just like this! Thank you for sharing this!!!

Good job making a diy haunted house that I would have been terrified of 😅 one thing to maybe do if you do this again is make motion sensor animatronics so that people wouldn’t just walk by. But otherwise, it’s amazing!
Thanks for the compliments. A lot of animatronics have faulty sensors. My Mr. Dark, for example, doesn’t have a working sensor. Last year, I used him with a step pad. Check out my new 2022 video. I used a manual switch this time around - much smoother!
