- September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to reflect and highlight the achievements and contributions of Hispanics in the United States. Colorado native Rodolfo Gonzales, known as "Corky," helped champion the Chicano Movement in Denver in the 1960s and 1970s to fight against discrimination and push for reform.
LONG LIVE “CORKY” THANK YOU
We assimilated, fought and died in wars, worked hard and appreciated the American life. The founding fathers laid the foundation for with their faith, intellect, sweat, and blood, because freedom was not free for them and it is not free for us now. My grandparents, and parents always taught us respect no matter what color someone is. They never said you are a proud Mexican, but they showed me who God was and what God has done, and what He continues to do. An uncle told me once, "pride and a dime bought you a cup of coffee in 1965." Don't expect respect. give it.
Mexican is a nationality. The premise of Corky"s activism focused on the " CHICANO" identity or "pochos" as they are commonly referred to by many ntolerant Mexicans which they view as mutts or traitors. Chicanos are not from Mexico but a mixture of Mexican and American.
My grandmother met him!
That's my great great uncle he's s related to Fred Gonzalez
Chicano not latino
Latinos represent!
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Perhaps the greatest representation we could have is to appreciated the truly great country this has been to those who are willing to drop the chips on our shoulders and simply honor those around us no matter the skin color, and not expect special treatment. Don't expect respect, give it.
This is about an indigenous man. Nothing to do with Latinos.
@@Snowboy2015 Exacto.

I definitely remember that time I went to West high very scary time for me at school.
Colorado chicanos
Absolutely disgusting. Do things because you’re an American. I don’t do things because I’m white. Pretty pathetic.
We do, we’re Mexican -American. Just like you my friend White-American
@@psylife3831 No I don’t identify with my race so much is the type of people that founded this country that still exist in this country despite the way that you want to be identified. You’re an American and you’re not a Mexican. You’re an American now. If you were born here, you are an American. If you are an immigrant, you are a Mexican American immigrant.
@@MrDuffy81 you don't know the experience because you are white. Latinos are proud of their culture no matter how many labels we are put under
@@bruhmoment1247 Well as white people, we are proud of the system that we built in this country that everybody operates under. But deaths to the federal government.
Do us all a favor and go back to Ireland then, ya mick! 😂
