I think "Star Trek Studios" is an excellent idea to bundle the whole Star Trek franchise organized under one umbrella. Having said that, I also hate it when the "suits" abruptly end a series due to their impatience. I rely on streaming services and rarely watch traditional broadcasters via commercial ad saturated TV ( CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.). Meaning -- there are so many, many streaming series to choose from that I often was not aware they were playing and only caught up via syndication (where the real money is with extreme long term steady revenue). Therefore, those "suits" should consider history/hind-sight as so many, many series like the original Star Trek, Dark Matters, Firefly, Stargate Universe, etc. were prematurely cancelled ... leaving fans and viewers frustrated and angry as is evident from the prior comments in this very post.
After the last Mission Impossible movie i wouldn't say Sky Dance knows how to make good entertainment. All Zaslav wanted was CBS for it's sports contracts he wasn't interested in Paramount studios. Live streaming of sports and legalized online sports betting are where they think they can make real money in the future. Sadly it looks like Star Trek is gonna end up another casualty of the changing entertainment landscape.
there is always a buyer - it just depends on who is setting the terms. If paramount goes belly up it will simply be cut up and auctioned to the highest bidder to service the existing debt.
Better question is this: what if Paramount buys Hasbro--parent company of the "Power Rangers" since 2018--and what would it mean for "Star Trek" *and* "Ninja Turtles" *and* "Power Rangers?"
Today CBS announced an NCIS spin-off about Tony and Ziva. They've also announced *NCIS: Origins.* How is this relevant ? Skydance sounds like a potentially smarter and more capable owner for Paramount, Universal might’ve gutted Star Trek out of the gate like they have countless other franchises due to their financial oopsies. If Kurtzman can be convinced to step aside, and someone like Terry Matalas gets to lead Star Trek, we could be looking at a much better future for Star Trek where the franchise is set up for long term success, fans are more pleased, and the movies serve as a high quality magnet for new audiences. I’m still concerned about Academy though, it’s far too late to cut the cord on that mistake.
Star Trek fans are now in the interphase where Captain Kirk was in The Tholian Web… between existence and nonexistence. Star Trek belongs on TV. If Sky Dance has any sense, they should hire Vic Mignona and produce Star Trek continues as their first series and give the fans… the ones who gave this property its value… what they want and deserve.
So essentially, Star Trek is a dead IP that nobody is interested in spending money on. Perhaps at some time in the far future it will be reincarnated, but I'll be long gone by then.

Anything that presses the pause button on current Trek is a good thing. Everything needs to stop until Kurtzman is out, and I just hope whoever buys the IP will actually respect it this time.
What makes you say that? Seth MacFarlane has a contract with NBC/Universal and if Comcast got Star Trek, it's possible Seth might be tapped to handle Star Trek. That might be the best chance Star Trek has, if it were to happen. Seth already expressed his desire to do actual Star Trek. The only downside I see is it would probably be the final nail in the coffin for The Orville.
We don't need more anti-competitive monopolies. These major market companies need to be broken up so that no company controls more than 5% of the market; definitely not merged. Why are policy makers so fond of agreeing that making a company larger to better compete with another large company is a better than creating policies that incentivize smaller companies?
Tbh the way Hollywood is going we wont need the laws to break up these companies they are imploding on themselves, all of them are , their approach to TV and filmmaking via the HR department has turned people off , bombarding people with "the message" isnt gonna help turn people to their way of thinking its turning people off and it shows since people are going back and watching shows pre 2010s as far back as the 60s to find new content to watch and buying it physically or digitally and archiving it to private servers to preserve alterations and changes that are "problematic" to the Marxists in Hollywood. They are killing themselves, let it happen
Because Broadcast TV is a legacy of Gen X, most of whom have already abandoned it, and their Boomer Parents, who never heard of a RUclips. It's also why (And, this may be of more relevance to the Video OP, as he like I live in Europe where DTH Satellite Broadcasts aren't probably going to continue once the fleet hits the retirement age sometime between now, and the mid '30s. Cable TV is going the way of the Landline, and DigitalTV such as what exists of it will be some virtual CableCos pipedream fulfilled via IPTV. At least that's how I see it going.
I Heard that In Star Trek Discovery Season 5 Episode Mirrors Discovery or Michael Burnham Alone will go into the Mirror Universe and Pick up the USS Defiant Last Seen in the Enterprise Season 4 Episode in a Mirror Darkly and also Find Lorca the OG Lorca We Never saw, It would be Great if Discovery Went Back in Time Went to the Mirror Universe Picked up the USS Defiant and Lorca and Went Back to the Future and to Their OG Universe, but for Now we Just got to wait to see if it Pans Out.
There's already at least five hundred hours of Star Trek productions in the can, there's no need for more. The emphasis going forward will be extracting more from the viewers of legacy productions, particularly the original series. Thankfully they can't repossess my Betamax cassettes, from Paramount Home Video, Inc.
I nolonger care for star trek those bridges are burnt shelled and c4'ed.. What I do care about is what will happen to my paramount series I'm getting into..
I’ve been a Star Trek fan since the original series but this is a horse that’s been run to death. If Star Trek ends I’m fine with it. Time for Hollywood to come up with some NEW,ORIGINAL ideas and not comic book related!
The Expanse was a great show. Interesting characters. Way more believable, and no fan tributes. Also, what you call "wokeness" was not an issue. It was a more serious show, darker, but basically not so dark as to be dystopian or unrealistic.
Star Trek still makes money through merchandising and license income from existing stuff, on top of some of the new stuff working out. A new owner would just cancel tge productions that merely waste resources. In a deal, they'd probably just license out the TV/streaming side if they're only interested in the movie side for themself. Still, spinning it off as a subsidiary wiuld be the most reasonable and therefore unlikely solution..
We have Peacock. We have no interest in Paramount+ since Star Trek died when the Kelvin timeline movies came. It's been utter rubbish ever since. There's so much stink with everything Paramount+ that they'd have to start over to have a chance at pulling us in. Ditch Discovery, SNW, Picard and all the rest. Clean start, pretending none of that ever happened.
Honestly, given the similar trajectory...? Not much. What could go wrong, already has, for well over a decade now. And, Its looking like Disney might be heading for the healing road, once Peltz, Pealmutter, and Musk manage to give Bob the boot.
Unfortunately, not about star trek the way we would like to think. Skydance will need deep $ pocket partner. Not many have the $ nor use for a movie and television combined, the way it used to be (like Disney /ABC). If true to form, Redstone would let the company get messy to make the debt holders eat the problem. Hence, cash flow with no new investment. Last wildcard, is Warren Buffet is the second largest shareholder and doesn't give things away either.
I thought S0NY already owned Columbia Pictures? Columbia being the "C" in CBS.. PROTIP: Try googling the history of CBS sometime. They was a time when CBS was in the most sincere sense of the word truly MASSIVE! Ya like that Fender Strat? That was CBS, you like that Capital Records version of some Beatles Album? That was CBS. You liked that good old fashioned NTSC Colour Television? You should thank the R&D Department at CBS Labs for that, and thats just the tip of that Iceberg. Perhaps the real player at that time would have been the DuMount Manufacturing (As in Radar for WWII and, later TVs in the 50s) / Network, that was attempting to do it's thing, but eventually ran out of cash. Most of what for a time went to being either independent, or part of Turners Metromedia Group, eventually all became FOX affiliates. Again if you interested in post modern history of American Television, something to have a nose in at.
@@williamking7631 My guess is by the time of the 1970s CBS still owned both Columbia, and Paramount, and Paramount was probably the better performing of the Two. So ditching Columbia off to S0NY in the 1980s was. Probably a fait accompli. What with Paramount getting the ownership of Trek at the time. It's probably why their still with-in the same breath as Warner, and Universal. But it's looking like Paramount might be heading off to join her Sister soon. But, I don't think S0NY actually needs Paramount. Trek? Thats another matter, but if Paramount is the price for Trek, than the cost isn't worth it. Certainly not since oh what how long ago was ST: Nemesis now? (Goshdern Google says it been 22 long years now since the last Movie.) Sans the Nu-Trek Garbage which doesn't count.
I would think that due to the stupidity that other ip’s have done that Star Trek has got to be the biggest game in town, they are going down that road but have shown that they can still play a good game like with season three of Picard , stargate could be the next but as of right now Star Trek is on top.
Star Trek's greatest problem, NOW, TODAY, are the people making it. Star Trek, STAR TREK, back in the 1960s, relied HEAVILY on actors, stories, and willing suspension of disbelief. The actors, the writers, the directors, had many things in common: The Depression, WWII, living through the Cold War, the assassinations of JFK, MLK, and RFK. The Woke types today? Totally dependent upon fan servicing and CGI. True. In the 1960s, they had no grand illusions. They knew Star Trek was a vehicle for selling cars, soap, cameras, cigs, etc. Nevertheless, Star Trek captured the imagination of millions of people, globally. The kak they push out now? Please. It's trash. A change is studios probably won't help.
Why oh why does STAR TREK have to be in such a mess/pickle? ie too many companies involved, whatever happens going forward i just want good movies that have great stories and no woke nonsense! the only series i liked was TNG, but i prefer a good quality 2 + hour movie 👍
NBC used to be nicknamed the `Peacock’ Network could that have something to do with the name of its’ streaming service. I think the nickname came from they had a lot of colour broadcasts when their competitors were still heavily into black & white programming
Look, I like you, I'm not trying to throw shade, but buddy, you are always making these videos, saying you got this secret source and that secret source... this one is high up and trustworthy and you can't believe someone this high up would talk to you, but oh this other source is just the janitor that saw documents... Yada Yada Yada... other than what has been publicly announced none of this stuff seems to happen. It's always the same thing... just saying, maybe you might want to start taking this stuff more for the grain of salt it is... as far as I can see it's all just rumors theories, and conjure, maybe I'm wrong
I think that this may be good for the future of Star Trek streaming but as for the movies who knows. Star Trek has a very good built-in viewership and can pull in the numbers when streamed. The movies on the other hand do not attract a wider audience. I could see Star Trek Studios becoming a reality. As for Legacy ay this time several of the actors involved with either TNG or Picard are expressing doubt. Skydance will probably want to continue with successful properties such as Star Trek. Regarding CBS hopefully Sinclair a right-wing entity will not purchase them. I would like to see CBS being affiliated with Paramount in a way that allows for no division between S Trek shows & movies. I doubt though that there will any S Trek movies heading to the big screen anytime soon or in the future. It would be good to see Abrams contract bought out & not become a sticking point in the final negotiations.
Whoever buys it, hopefully they'll axe all the new crap just sell Blurays and license out the legacy stuff and leave this franchise be. Modern Hollywood is never going to give us good sci-fi again.
You need to look at history......how Bob Iger got SW and the MCU. He had to buy the studio (FOX + LucasArts). I don't see a world where ST is a stand alone entity, especially as the brand has been diminished over the last 15+ years, thanks to Justin Lin and his Fast and Furious approach, New Worlds, and the disaster Discovery. However, Paramount Studios is so-so with the IP's, ST, Mission, Transformers, GI Joe, Puss N Boots, Top Gun, Terminator, Paranormal Act.....most all others are dormant. Even that list has franchises who have under 3 titles. Skydance can make movies and distribute them all day long. They need big IPs to get to where they want to be. This includes Top Gun and Mission....yes and ST. Right now its a bargain to grab all of these.
Creating Star Trek studios isn’t about creating a stand alone entity that could be sold. It’s more complicated I’m afraid as secret hideout owner elements of what they produce. Paramount own the IP of Star Trek but its licenced to secret hideout and they then own what is made. It’s complicated but basically it means paramount couldn’t continue to make SNW or lower decks if they ended the current deal with secret hideout. A way around that is buy Kurtzman out. An added bonus is they create one place where the IP for starters trek is owned and if cbs/paramount get split again there won’t be the film/tv split in IP rights we saw before.
@@scitrek Dark Fate was pretty bad. I love Terminator too, but if they green lit a Terminator movie now, it would crash with this current box office. Cameron produced that and still bombed.
I don’t really care about Star Trek anymore. Other than season one of Strange New Worlds it’s been utter garbage since the JJ universe movie Into Darkness. I loved the 2009 movie but its sequels quite frankly are garbage. Now if the new owners of the franchise fire the current crew and get people who are competent and care about the franchise, and turn things around, good. But at this point just like Star Wars and Marvel I don’t care.
Well sounds like yet another s**t show to me, especially where any planned new (& current) Star Trek TV series are concerned. Having said that, nothing they come up with can be any worse than Star trek Generations LOL.
Some might say the same things about StarWars as well. To those whinging on about Stargate. Aught to perhaps instead be counting their lucky stars. As some random Sith Lord once 'marked "Search your feelings, _you know this to be true!_"...

Why is the description talking about Stargate movies?
Disney? Apple? Comcast will kill Star Trek.
Thank God Discovery did not get their hands on Star Trek.
At least that's how I see it going.
get the studios away from star trek like the bubonic plague. give it to the fans.
Whenever there's a corporate merger many unintended consequences occur. So Star trek will be damaged at least minimally.
Star trek academy "Soap Opera" 😫
I nolonger care for star trek those bridges are burnt shelled and c4'ed.. What I do care about is what will happen to my paramount series I'm getting into..
Either way, it could be Disney or Sony?
No Star Trek for 20 years would be a good thing. Bah.
Why would Paramount buy out Alex Kurtzman? Oh, that’s right. Alex Kurtzman Trek sucks and he doesn’t deserve to continue to wreck it.
So did your videos leaking the WB deal give the other studios the chance to outbid them? Or did they have other sources?
If so they should slip you a few million at least
No for once I didn’t leak the WB merger plan. Just that they’d been out bid. But I’ll take the pay out still.
The trajectory of Trek looks bleaker with each new great idea....
For names maybe Paracock or Peamount+ 😊
Mountcock+
@@davechan8613 or CockMount+
We have Peacock. We have no interest in Paramount+ since Star Trek died when the Kelvin timeline movies came. It's been utter rubbish ever since. There's so much stink with everything Paramount+ that they'd have to start over to have a chance at pulling us in. Ditch Discovery, SNW, Picard and all the rest. Clean start, pretending none of that ever happened.
Just sell Star Trek to Disney. What could go wrong?
How much time, ya got. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, given the similar trajectory...?
Not much.
What could go wrong, already has, for well over a decade now.
And, Its looking like Disney might be heading for the healing road, once Peltz, Pealmutter, and Musk manage to give Bob the boot.
Disney: Put a chick in it and make it LAME!
Paramount: Way ahead of you!
No Star Trek will survive
Unfortunately, not about star trek the way we would like to think. Skydance will need deep $ pocket partner. Not many have the $ nor use for a movie and television combined, the way it used to be (like Disney /ABC). If true to form, Redstone would let the company get messy to make the debt holders eat the problem. Hence, cash flow with no new investment. Last wildcard, is Warren Buffet is the second largest shareholder and doesn't give things away either.
Could CBS and Sony get together again?
@@Ichijoe2112 Yeah, I thought it was that way. Guess they got too big, so it got broke up.
Where does this leave strange new worlds series 3?
I would think that due to the stupidity that other ip’s have done that Star Trek has got to be the biggest game in town, they are going down that road but have shown that they can still play a good game like with season three of Picard , stargate could be the next but as of right now Star Trek is on top.
could the end up with all current shows canceled?
Yes. The financial disaster almost demands it, sooner rather than later.
And, quite literally (In the precise, and exact demonstrated usage of that word!)
NOTHING OF VALUE WAS LOST!
Looks like you’re recording this from the early 90s.
That’s when the best Trek was made
Clean your lens.
I heard the Saudis are trying to buy Paramount.
Peamount Plus
Why oh why does STAR TREK have to be in such a mess/pickle? ie too many companies involved, whatever happens going forward i just want good movies that have great stories and no woke nonsense! the only series i liked was TNG, but i prefer a good quality 2 + hour movie 👍
"no woke nonsense"
The bleating phrase of right-wing idiots. Star Trek was alway s"woke" from the beginning. Idiot.
Watch the Expanse. Then if you're interested watch Blake's 7. Definitely no "wokeness" there. It's anti-woke: Dirty Harry in space.
NBC used to be nicknamed the `Peacock’ Network could that have something to do with the name of its’ streaming service. I think the nickname came from they had a lot of colour broadcasts when their competitors were still heavily into black & white programming
Peacock.... You might think it's stupid but it was and is an NBC trademark. They began using it when they began broadcasting in colour.
The name came with a creative imaging of their logo as a peacock's tail a million years ago
Going where no man ...no one... has gone before. Eh?
Whoever buys it, hopefully they'll axe all the new crap just sell Blurays and license out the legacy stuff and leave this franchise be. Modern Hollywood is never going to give us good sci-fi again.
Apple has been churning out lots of good sci-fi in recent years. The Expanse ended not that long ago. Apparently you just don't know where to look.
Also literally all the IP you mention are not dormant… terminator is kind of but Cameron is actually writing a script for a new one.
@@scitrek Dark Fate was pretty bad. I love Terminator too, but if they green lit a Terminator movie now, it would crash with this current box office. Cameron produced that and still bombed.
@@Yousaf_Yunesif Cameron has a great idea I’ll be interested. But I agree I think it’s a series that’s done.
Haven’t watchedmuch Star Trek since Enterprise, one or two episodes of the series that have come after, but they are just unwatchable woke filth.
True Trek expired a good while ago. Tbh I'm no longer really interested in Trek anymore.
I've moved on. However I am interested in CBS NCIS franchise.
Some might say the same things about StarWars as well. To those whinging on about Stargate. Aught to perhaps instead be counting their lucky stars.
As some random Sith Lord once 'marked "Search your feelings, _you know this to be true!_"...
Pickard only exception, all other recent "TREK" is UTTER WOKE GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The: shear f**king hubris
Never forget!
It is fine to use shows to present new social ideas in a "story" proper way, like Star Trek, and many other shows have done for decades. It is NOT fine to ENDOCTRINATE!!@@Ichijoe2112
