Yes woody was a jerk in early drafts Yes the characters weren’t fully developed yet And yes this is my vision of the Black Friday reel And yes I want Applebees.
Honestly, aside from many reasons, one of the things I liked to why they chose not to go with this version, is a fact that Bo Peep is kind of a hypocrite in this. As she clearly was making Woody jealous by hitting on Buzz. I think having only Hamm and Mr Potato Head be the only ones getting on Woody’s case was the better choice. Edited: Granted, Bo does fall into this problem too, in the original cut, as the creators decided to keep the line, “I found my moving buddy.”, but other than that, for the most part Bo was mostly just praising how unique Buzz was to Woody.
Yeah, that scene really rubbed me off the wrong way. She has teased Woody before, but in a sincere sweet way that let us know they've been together a long time. Heck she still supports him afterwards despite Buzz's popularity amongst the toys.
By the way on a documentary called “The Pixar story” one of the executives said that it was unfunny boring and very long and had footage worth of two cassettes. So if this is boring, we know why🤷🏽♂️
I can Imagine This Movie Would've Been Rated 15 If It Had Too Much Edge, May Contain Mild Gory Horror, Attitude and Sex. Since Listening to The Black Friday Reel Incident by a Guy Talking with a British Accent, It Picks up Some Scenes in My Head that are Vile and Gory, For Example, Mr Potato Head Pull one of His Eyes Out and Put them Underneath Bo Peep's Dress for a Look-see.
3:35 How have I not realizing until now that Buzz says ‘damn’ in this scene? 5:25 Also, Bo being a rizzler. 9:14 Also also, something that I wish was still in the movie.
In the Script, Bo Peep's Role in The Original Drafts was More Prevalent, Often Flirtatious Towards Male Characters. I can Imagine That She Would've been the Unwilling Bride of Sheriff Woody in the Black Friday Original Drafts.
As terrible as Woody is in this, the dog wrangling and latching on to Alaskan Sled Dogs vehicle is RAW af. The tension leading up to it is cool too. I guess the most repurposing that got was riding Buster in Toy Story 2. But man, I'd love some toy vs animal conquering like in this at least once, while they're still milking this franchise 😂.
I'm happy that this wasn't the Toy Story we got. This version feels evil-spirited and insane on many levels, but I will admit that this moment (16:01) with Slinky was iconic.
@@fynnthefox9078 The Way I saw it, on Buzz's planet (or Possibly Sector 4 in this version) there is no night-time, the world is orbited by two suns on each axis which meant no night. And how people in that world slept was by "closing the blinds" with sun-proof shields that make their bedrooms dark. So Buzz literally has no concept of what Night is, but this is just a deleted scene and is technically non-canon.
I like the final Bo beep better This version she along with other characters are slightly more mean spirited here wished they'd keep the sarcastic Woody though
I actually liked the rattle scene. Not only is it a funny parody of those movie scenes where some old guy dramatically retails the killing of his best friend, but it also serves as some pretty good foreshadowing for when Buzz and Woody inevitably make it in Sid's room. I kinda wish they kept it in the movie.
But I could also see why they scrapped it given the budget and time. That scene requires a new model with probably new properties which would only be used once seeing as that’s his only appearance. The Hokey Puck and the other background toys are either real simple shapes to animate or have uses as background extras.
Honestly I think i'd still be interesting to see someone make a fan film similar to the original script with the ventriloquist dummy Woody as the villain.
I mean Woody wasn't THE villain. (Considering Sid was still the villain.) But there is a concept art for the movie that instead had Woody strapped to the rocket with Buzz saving him as sort of his redemption arc.
I'll bet if *Toy Story* was rebooted, this reel could serve as the basis, much like how the upcoming *Splash* remake will be based off its earlier drafts.
I hope they don't. Just because they used older scripts doesn't mean it's gonna be good. Maybe there was a reason why early drafts were... early drafts. And it would just be disrespectful to the creators considering this wasn't the movie they wanted to go out and get made but was almost a studio interfered movie. (Many movies botched by the producers usually end up terrible.) And everyone would hate the shit of the reboot if they made Woody a douchebag.
That's the one thing I wonder, how much of the deleted scenes that we do have with this movie on DVD were part of the Black Friday reel? I did try to ask Lee Unkrich this on his Twitter page when I was still on there, (Before I forgot my password, and can't get in since my first account being suspended due to faving too many tweets at once) but as far as I know, he has yet to reply.
I don’t think any of these deleted scenes apart from the Woody throwing Buzz out the window were a part of the Black Friday Reel. I’m sure some of these scenes could’ve been made after the infamous screening and admittedly a few could’ve been made before the screening and the Woody in those few clips made before the Black Friday Reel wasn’t as much of a tyrant or unsympathetic douchebag in the reel but still maintained the original jerky personality before his personality traits were amplified by Jeffrey Katzenberg’s notes for more “edge”. We could speculate which scenes were part of that infamous Black Friday Reel, but overall what the ACTUAL reel is like in its entirety aside from the few clips of Woody being more aggressive and the alternate sequence of Buzz falling out the window is a complete mystery.
To be fair They always go trough the same thing every Christmas and birthday so I can see why Woody got annoyed in this version since he is right most of the time. And potato head has the same personality as the final version so I don’t know who to side with here Woody did threaten him says wanna be potato mash
