911 Call Reveals Moment After Pilot Ejected From Fighter Jet

- A 911 call revealed the moments after a Marine pilot ejected from his fighter jet and parachuted into a homeowner's backyard. After ejecting from the F-35 fighter jet, the pilot asked the South Carolina homeowner to make a call to 911. The pilot sounds frustrated with the 911 dispatcher who is finding the entire call baffling. The jet, which was on autopilot, later crashed into the woods 80 miles away.
As a dispatcher it doesn’t matter how unusual or outrageous the call seems. Do your job and get EMS rolling to the location and find out details later
Agree. The dispatcher seemed like she was on her first day at the job, or an intern filling in. Just get the police out to the address given. End.
She already would have done that while still talking to them
@@bobblue_west she already had them coming shes just trying to see what happened
How do you know? She should have acknowledged that to the caller. She didn't. Bad practice. She sounded very bewildered. @@JimNortonsAlcoholism
IKR. It's called professionalism. If it's a prank call, the caller still has to pay for the ambulance, then they get sued. So either way, do the job.
Emergency dispatch should practice not needing the situation explained to them 5 times by 2 different people
Why even send an ambulance if he isn't injured, and doesn't know where the plane has crashed. Also he doesn't tell his name, nor the name of his airbase, I can understand she has some doubts!
He shoukd have called his military contacts instead of 9/11, he probably ejected without respecting any procedure, there is no reason to eject asap if the plane can still fly dozens of miles.
@@DR_1_1he could be injured after the ejection or landing, that isn’t something you know? Nor do we know the reason he ejected yet.. he was upside down, possibly thought he lost control??
It's very typical of 911 to gather details while ambulance is rolling.
@@DR_1_1His back was hurt. They deceptively edited that part out of the call.
@@DR_1_1 An ejection is extremely intense that a pilot could suffer broken bones, spines, blunt force trauma etc. Ejection is no joke.
That dispatcher literally laughed instead of helping... very professional.
They thought it was a joke.

@@Boypogikami132ppl ordered pizza at 911 and they still dispatched
@@robowarrioir that’s because ordering pizza from 911 is a sign that you’re in a state of harm and you can’t freely speak of it.
I'm so glad the pilot is OK. Ejecting is a very violent event and at high altitude the pressure differance can mess you up
The main factor is the force of the ejection seat
@@mr.garrison6947given it's literally a rocket under the ass to get them a safe distance from a potential out-of-control vehicle? Yeah.
It's career ending for most pilots that eject at high speed or altitude due to the injuries sustained from sudden acceleration the ejection seat rocket exerts, neck injuries from powerful whiplash , serious injuries to the limbs or damage to veins from sudden depressurization or lung injury from breathing apparatus malfunctioning make it impossible to ever return to duty.

Would be interesting to find out why he ejected. When pilots eject it is very dangerous what it does to your spine.
I read that the F-35 was known to be unable to safely fly in a thunderstorm so the pilot ejected when it showed evidence of stability problems. Each jet can cost more than $160 million but is useless in a thunderstorm. ....sigh
I remember reading an article about how since it was a marine f35, they have automatic ejector seats. This is so in VTOL if something goes wrong, it can eject because the pilot might not have time to properly react, they were theorizing maybe something with that ejected the pilot without him doing anything.
That's just not true. Do you have ANY evidence to back that up?@@higgme1ster
Not as dangerous as their plane crashing into the ground. Especially, if it’s in a populated area
@@hendrafour7824 Something more happened or didn't. The propulsion of the ejection seat is suppose to also drive the nose of the plane down into a stall and crash. It would seem that for $100M+ the plane would have a way to kick it out of auto pilot . The home owner and pilot where idiots when talking to 911. I can see the home owner not being clear what was going on but a pilot should be able to have a little better command of the English language than the way he responded to 911. He is in the US . First the operator should have gotten names of who is reporting it . The pilot could have been more convincing on his part. Maybe a little better IDing who and what base he was out of .
clearly the only qualifications for a 911 dispatcher is to be able to answer the phone lol

It literally is tbh a kid I went to high-school with that is a drug addict is literally one 😂😂
Phone operator needs to do her job
How exactly did she not do her job? He got the help he needed.
What?
She was in complete shock. She has to deal with prank calls, chaotic life or death calls, and then hours of nothing.
But being asked to find a 100 million dollar F-35 jet is probably not in her training.
She is probably looking all over the internet for the nearest air force base phone number on her computer…..and contemplating calling the FAA.
Plus trying to direct where to send the darn ambulance.
That pilots back is probably killing him. 😖 In some fast jets, pilots have to keep their backs perfectly straight or the G-Forces can bend/break their backs.
One pilot had to eject suddenly at an airshow years ago and his back compressed a few inches.
He ejected so close to the ground his parachute barely had time to open before he hit the burning ground (jet crashed and burst into flames). Ironically his seat and parachute hit the ground so hard it killed the fire under/about 8 feet around him. All he could do was lay there stunned….and in pain as Fire burned around him. When he was finally able to get out of his hospital bed to stand, he was startled to see he had to look up to look into his wife’s eyes, usually he had to look down.
When fully recovered (AKA his back uncompressed) he lost an inch of height permanently.

They only thing she have to do is send a freaking ambulance
Dispatchers have the ability to dispatch ambulances and other emergency apparatus as they’re communicating with the 911 caller. So an ambulance was already enrought and she was simply gathering more information to provide to the rescuers. I’m an EMT so that’s how I know.
@@cromano6830 Just because you're an emt doesn't negate the fact that that woman sounded clueless. People have died due to poorly handled 911 calls on the operators end. It's not wrong to ask for better training when seconds matter. Especially when the woman acted like she needed a second to comprehend what was going on. Imagine that 911 caller being seriously injured or the jet has crashed in to a residential and the person on the other line acted like they had no clue what you were talking about and acted like they were completely bewilder that there was an actual emergency going on. Typical 911 operator. She'll probably ask him what he's wearing next.
Does the pilot face an consequences? For the damage like an suspension? Seems like it was out of his control and had to eject. Can't see him just coming bak to work like just another Tuesday
They'll probably be more concerned with what happened in the F-35B and troubleshooting that than determining whether he should face consequences. I'm sure they'll just be glad he made it to the ground in one piece.
Its pretty straight forward. First off medical evaluation, then a crash/safety investigation. If both turn out good they can fly again. If not, well you know the rest.
Edit: I would like to add that we would work the problem in the cockpit first before ejecting. Ejecting is a last resort if all fails, which is what it sounded like because his plane was inverted
