The Italians are the Gods of design. In pretty much all things too. I never liked the F40 that much but otherwise everyone of these is absolutely gorgeous. Always loved the Miura and that little Maserati G Spyder. Ever so slightly understated. My kind of thing. Almost the opposite of the Stradale and the Miura, let alone that gorgeous Countach.
Great list. Can we just spare a thought for Bertone, responsible for 3 of the cars on this list namely the Stratos, the Countach and the Miura but sadly no longer in existence.
My Favourite is the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. It just seems to have the right touches of chrome and perfect curved lines that speak to me. Whats your favourite and Why?
EXACTLY! 60's designs were genuine & rare combinations of art engineering and elegance (i.e Stradale, GTO), the F-40 is a typical 80's box & the Countach looks like it was designed by Homer Simpson (aka The Homer).
You are right about the beauty contest.... but the correct name is Alfa Romeo Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili and Romeo for Nicola Romeo (the founder) You see.... no P, just as in horse .... 😁😁😉😉
Raffaello Romeo; oh Yes, I have known about that car since it's introduction by Carrozzeria Touring about 10 years ago. It`s beautiful - but I would take the 33 Stradale and the Giulia TZ2. 👍😉
Actually they were junk.. The factory didn't give a damn about the customer.. They pushed cars/shit out the door just to make inventory.. Like a neighbor who had one.. He was on the freeway here in LA,, this was back in '87 .. the left front wheel/brake assembly froze @ 65 mph in the inside lane.. Luckily it was early morning with not mush traffic.. The car spunout and destroyed the inner barrier for 70 yards .. The car was totaled,, he spent 3 days in the hospital.. And this was a rare occasion that it even started.
@@williamcouch5418 Dear Mr. Couch might a factor be that it was almost impossible to find competent mechanics to work on italian cars in the U.S.? I hear they still struggle but that might get better with FCA/MoPar?
@@williamcouch5418 Also in 87 the Stratos was old and as far as I know they have always been difficult to mainatin even in Italy due to very limited supply of spares as the car was only meant for rallye... only 500 built. I think the only shit we can see here is your own... you might as well check your Headgasket might be leakin the shit.
the F40 and the Countach are my dream cars, but make no mistake, all the cars here present are all absolutely amazing, respect for the people who created them and their owners and keepers, Italian design, style and beauty...
Besides, the 33 Stradale was the most expensive car money could buy .... in any price list in 1967 .... it's also the prettiest car ever made, in my eyes.
I only know he allegedly said that about the e-type. I can actually imagine he hated the 33. It was engineered by Carlo Chiti who left Ferrari with a bunch of other engineers after an argument.
Was waiting for the Lamborghini (P 400) Miura. It was invented when I was a kid. Dreamed of it for decades. Saw one more than 30 years ago in Rome. Rightfully defined in the vid as "one of the most beautiful cars of the 20th century"... THANKS A LOT FOR THIS VID !!
You could easily make another video using 8 different classic Italian cars such is the quality of their design and engineering. My all time classic Italian model is the Ferrari 250 GT SWB.
I can think of a few Maserati masterpieces that you could substitute for that Maserati - otherwise it has been nailed...A6GCS/53 Berlinetta, 2500GT Spyder... otherwise, well collected...
All these cars are just simply brilliant but it is a shame that HF Integrale Evoluzione is not on this list !!!. Come on, the best rally car ever made... If I have to chose one from this 8 cars, I wolud pick the F40 since it is my all time supercar dream.
Nice choices overall- so much more attractive that the angular spaceships of the past couple of decades. Note the Countach models shown here are not the pretty 70's models but the 80's models with that unattractive tupperware body kit. The 71 was so much cleaner. I would have added to the 63-64 Ferrari 250 Berlinetta Lusso to this collection.
Nice video and whilst the 'Countach' at 1.48 is a extremely good one, er it is a replica...though the 1963 silver Ferrari 250 GTO is indeed the real McCoy.
All these Italian cars back then had real tires that gripped and protected the car suspension DRIVERS FROM the harshness of track and street/rally courses
I think in thai list need to put Maserati MC12 and Lancia Beta Montecarlo 037, two cars with street legal version. Also is very difficult to choose 8 or 10 beautiful Italian cars. De Tomaso, Bizzarrini, Iso Rivolta, Pagani, Fiat with Abarth partnership and so on....
Countach looked better without all the crap the added to it. wing, scoop, etc. The original clean design was beautiful. Where's the 365 gtb/4? Perhaps the most beautiful street car Ferrari ever made?
Lovely cars, but far from all-time - 'post-war' would be more accurate. 'All-time' would have to include the Alfa 6C and 8C of the 1930s, Maserati A6G, Fiat Balilla, the innovative 1920s Lancia Lambda, and several others.
In my job I used to do testdrives for about 100km and a noise emission test. The F40 and Countach were the worst cars I have ever driven. The F40 restless and unstable on the rear axle, like on black ice. I stopped driving fast after 5 seconds at 200 km/h and returned back with less than 150km/h. Maybe it was the fault of the 10 year old tires. The Countach was even worse. 372 HP - 300 for noise, 40 for vibrations and only 32 for driving remained. In the car was a receipt for an engine overhaul, including new pistons one year ago. Embarrassing to drive something like that on the German autobahn. Ok, the 348tb was worse. Instabile in steering beginning at 130km/. From 150 km / h it became light on the front axle and I felt like loosing the steering. And it jumped over transverse joints of Autobahn bridges, just at only 150km/h. Every standard BMW 3 (E21, E30, E36.....) with the smallest engine drives better. In a M3, M5 oder even in my 530touring DIESEL - i have a total relaxed confident feeling at 240+ km/h.
33 STRADALE. No question about it. It is so beautiful, sounds so good and has such magic vibes...
The 33 Stradale with the Miura and the 250 GTO are probably the most beautiful cars ever produced
delbroox + Agree ! :) My favourite is Stradale and 250 GTO
I agree 110%
Not the miura the other two 👌

the Alfa 33 steals the show!
i was just about to say that. that stradale trumped the 250 gto for me.
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. An eternal masterpiece of italian style and engineering.
Boss Boss never saw one before, but you are right it is badass 😄
Art Mchugh; I have seen a few.. and I think, it is the best looking car in the World

Wrong order though. 33 Stradale on top of the list 😉
F-40 never stirred my soul
Tipo 33 Stradale all day long and twice on Sunday....

Countach ofcourse

sure THIS Homer Simpson designed the Countach
My god that car is breathtaking. I had no clue it even existed. And I will never, ever be able to afford one, sadly.

sometimes it will make you cry.

Absolutely loved the "impossible to mistake for Marlon Brando" remark!
Lancia Stratos is not a car, it's a spaceship.
the original was trash!!!!!!!!!! but the boddddddddddy TYPE was paramount as a rallie car. The other was the early '60's Austin "MINI"
I would drive that thing everyday if I owned one I don't care what it took

But the Ferrari Testarossa from the 80s, together with the F40, is a must of the all time Italian Sportcars !

Only missing the Ferrari P3/4... other than this omission, the list pretty much covers the best cars ever to grace earthly tarmac.
And the Ferrari 275 LM ....

the Ferrari P3/4 definitely deserves a spot in this list
P3/4 is gorgeous indeed but not road-legal, hence not a "sportscar" but a racing car
the 308 was a better car than f-40 .... -and not a'race car......
