@Jonnells24, I think that it was based on the Mitsubishi GTO, which is also alternatively known as the Mitsubishi 3000GT, 3000GT SL, and Mitsubishi 300GT VR-4 in the USA. The whole GTO thing would not fly in the USA and Canada because of the Pontiac GTO, so between making GM mad, and muscle car fans mad, Mitsubishi called it those names, as well as the Dodge Stealth and Dodge Stealth R/T, instead. However, make no mistake, as its American, Canadian, and European parts either have, or can fit, Mitsubishi GTO parts, and ditto for the Dodge Stealth.
My grandfather still has his Shelby Series 1, and it’s just stunning. The engine noise, the visceral feel at high RPM, it’s really something special. He got it signed by Carroll Shelby too, on two different occasions.
I have not heard "Tommykaira" in like 20 years :D Gran Turismo was a great game back in the day. The Dodge Stealth was neither rare nor forgotten, it was basically a slightly redesigned Mitsubishi GTO/GT3000. The Lexus SC was just a rebadged Toyota Soarer.
@@poulwinther correct, they have those other brands for the majority of the sportscars. But showing what the brand is capable of producing can increase the sales of the Golf R, Golf GTI etc. So the sporty models. There are several brands that use that marketing technique. Look at Citroen, Peugeot, Renault, etc. They all have a few concept or sports car models that on first sight don't seem to fit the brands because they are superior. Also it helps to come up with new technologies that in the future will be used in "normal" vehicles.
@@300zxturbofromteamexcite8 We have our own individual tastes. I prefer the Supra A80. I call it the affordable Ferrari F40, because that is where the design was obviously copied from. If I had never seen the concept version of the Supra A90, I might have liked the new model. However, I like the A90 wide-body kit though.
Richard Ike I think you're referring to the Supra A70 with the boxy design, hence the poormand supra, if so, I absolutely love that car, a few tasteful modifications they look dropdead gorgeousl

Will always remember the Marcos and Speed 12 from the British GT championship back in the day. Lister also had a monster of a GT1 entry but the name escapes me. Have seen a Speed 12 in the flesh at the Lakeland Motor Museum and it’s breathtaking. Never thought much of the Marcos, but Maxi Jazz ended up owning one so it can’t have been that bad :D
I'm 47, and fell in love with the Lexus SC when it debuted. Found a beautiful 95 SC400, and absolutely fell in love with the 1UZ FE... Car still pulls Incredibly strong. Don't think I'll ever get rid of it, honestly. Great video
The Stealth was never rare or forgotten. They’ve just all blown up or rusted out over the years. Those along with the 3000gt were just super heavy under powered. Back in the 90s we were all modding these things without modern tuning. It’s just as unlikely to see a first or second gen dsm on the road now, but they were everywhere back in the day.
At sum point they were but now they are and the people around my city are getting them, I always had a thing for them but now Im not sure if I wanna get one
sill have a couple stealths in my area and honestly the sc300/400's are pretty common cars too to the area. Used to own one for awhile and it was a blast to drive. Honestly would've preferred it more than the s13 if it had pop up headlights lol.

Until you realize that tatra suffered the same fate as isuzu in moving away from the general public to heavy machinery and was the first if not one of the first automakers to take aerodynamics into consideration for cars The isdera 112i had a beautiful active suspension which was a lot for a 90's super car The Consulier GTP's body was so well made for sports driving that chevy was blamed for bribing car reviewers to spread rumors of having bad brakes; if GTP was known for having chevy parts but with better configs, they'll lose sale for their stock cars. The modern mid engine corvette is basically a GTP on steroids. All that is left is Melkus to be covered.
I still see Stealth(s) and 3000GT(s) around. There's a decent looking one for sale in Harper KS. I don't think any tuner car guy has forgotten about the Lexus SC300, it's a poor man's Supra.

Even the Lotus Europa was intended to race at Le Mans with a large engine inside, but in the end was given a small Renault engine, at first, as a sportscar.
actually the Europa was intended to be the first to get Lotus' own engineered engine, but production woes and quality issues regarding proper fitment of the engine in the europa's lightweight chassis prevented this, hence they used a renault engine as they supplied it cheaply and were apparently quite good to fettle with, see Lotus Europa Twin Cam for reference.

They still are. One of the few xaea yult with 2 shocks on the rear wheels to be as smooth as silk. 2 rotor engine is pretty sweet sounding. A very expensive car on UK if you could import one then. Sadly most have been riced and trashed
Why did VW never put the W12 into production? It's such a nice looking car? The fastest car on this list is definitely the TVR Speed 12 - the power to weight it has is unbeatable. The Lister Storm was a incredible car too.

The moment I finish reading about the cars in the video, I didn't see the cars properly. But if I look at the cars I didn't have enough time to read about it. I had to first look at the cars and then rewind to read about it or vice versa.
I really wished the VW and the Yamaha would be available as a kid. Seen a few Tommy Kairas before and it was so cool seeing them. That Matra is so hot too. They’re all heroes. None of these are forgotten… by me.
two cars that absolutely didn't belong to this list: Dodge stealth, Lexus SC, both were just reskins or rebadges of other cars that were either more famous (in case of stealth, the mitsubishi GTO-3000GT) or just not that known in the US (Toyota crown coupe-soarer), cars like the Gillet Vertigo or cizetta morodor would've been better picks imho.
We old NFS players (pre-funky tuning franchise) know Isdera Commendatore very well... And we Czechs know Tatra MTX well too. Václav Král, the designer, is considered a legend in Czechia, although I'm not his admirer myself.

I think the Viper predates the TVR. I saw the Speed12 at a motor show years ago. It's bigger and way crazier looking than a Viper.
I also thought the thing, because it does look like the viper souped up.
