I’m really glad you did this. And did it with the intention of really paying attention to the slight differences. Many times you simply state 99% of folks would love it.but for what you want and the rest of 1%. And so happy to to here about the underdrive something we talked about before I think great research.

A buddy & I just bought 2 of the new Holmes Hobby 050 motors. He got the 66t I got the 55t I have much more wheel speed than he does but he has way more torque. I drove his and it wasn’t often that I felt I needed wheel speed the torque was making up for it. I put the 55t in a new Deadbolt & I felt it was way better than stock or the same or better than the other 050’s that I have. Btw the 66t was running on v2. I moved the 55t to a Powerwagon build I working on which is based on a v2 JLU I want to see how it preforms there.
Think I need to put my Injora Pro on one of my Momentum’s & see what it will do. Thanks Josh for all this useful information.

Heck yeah, thanks for sharing. The key is the underdrive for this motor, otherwise the startup is a little too high to be given this rating. It’s torquey af but without the slow speed control, it’s not my favorite. Kraig picked up two of the Holmes hobbies motors too. I’m running the cr 18 050 motor today and you’ll want to see this. I’ll see if I can get those motors from Kraig and give them a run as well. Thanks for being here! Hope you have a great one.

    30% overdrive front and back.
Mofo buzzsaw on stock gearing good too.
    All on 2s reliable.

It’s badass! Without the underdrive, though, the slow speed can be a little higher than I would like. That’s the trick. I have another video I’ll shoot today on the hobbyplus cr18 050 motor. It’s also very good and cheap. Super slow startup with decent torque on 2s. Thanks for hanging out! Hope you have a great day!

Thus far the Injora Pro motor on V2 electronics has been my favorite brushed motor. The 66T Injora motor was a solid performer too (so smooth) but the Pro motor’s ability to power through stuff gives it the upper hand in my opinion. The Pro is also the only motor I’ve used that has survived overheating due to my negligent driving. Performance is slightly affected afterwards but I’ve yet to have any other motor survive and continue to run after being overheated. I thought this was maybe a lucky fluke but I’ve had 3 Pro motors continue to run after overheating and one has overheated multiple times. It’s also worth mentioning that the Pro motor handles heat better than any other motor I’ve used which is in part why I sometimes forget to monitor it’s temperature. Is it a built in feature? I don’t know but it’s impressive to say the least and much appreciated when I’m focused more on driving than my motor temp.

I I love the purple 48t inJora pro. I’ve owned the torque beast I’ve owned the Meus 44t and
I’ve tried 16:1 stock gear the 40:1 crawler gear and the Meus 25.8:1
My fav combo is the purple injora pro and the 25.8:1 gear. Tons of wheel speed even to cruise around but good crawl as well

Great video! I just put a pro in my JLU and was really not happy with it. However I swapped the electronics to V2 and it's now easily my favorite brushed setups. My only complaint is the lack of wheel speed. It's not a big deal as these are crawlers not bashers. It still doesn't come close to my brushless setup though. I haven't found any brushed setup that can match the slow crawl of a brushless setup. You have to be willing to pay up for that though so it's not always worth the cost increase.

What do you mean by "underdrive" ? I understand that they call it overdrive when a 13 or 14 front and a 16 rear makes the front turn faster but why do they call the 12 "underdrive" on the Injora website. And for the motor i will stay with the purple injora anyway because its the only thing i can get at a reasonable price here in europe.

    • @texomarc
      @texomarc  2 года назад +1

I guess I didn’t submit my comment last night. Sorry! MOFO sells an underdrive gear for the rear end. It’s got more teeth. I don’t know if anyone else selling one yet. I don’t think I would overdrive a brushed motor, at this point, even though that’s what I did from the beginning. On the brushless setups, it’s fine. On the brushed, I’d rather have the dominant torque for all the time smooth driving and sacrifice a little on the wheel speed. If I need the speed, just drop a 3s pack and we rippin til we flip! Hope that helps. Holler if you have more questions. Hope you have a great day.

They are gear ratios that are changing. By decreasing the tooth count on the gear, the wheel speed goes up. MOFO sells a 50% underdrive that goes in the rear. I’m not sure how many teeth it is. You would want stock in the front and the underdrive in the rear.

I've run the hot racing 66t, and both injoras, of the 3 I like the injora pro the best.
I will say that I switched from the red injora to the 50t pro at the same time as I went from 23% front OD to 20% rear UD (from mofo), and it could benefit from more wheelspeed. gonna try 3s next (not running the stock esc obviously)

Dont know how or why, but the torque beast 50 3.0 almost completely ruined the hobby.
It left some of the metal! Spur gear teeth bent/etched after I installed it and had a short run with it. After a remesh and a second opinion from an RC guy I know, still slips and cogs like crazy. Using all mod3 sizes.
I thought maybe a loose or damaged transmission may be the culprit so i replaced it with a new one, but the issues persist and completely slips with any incline. Biggest regret and so many hours lost on what I'm guessing is just a bad motor. But at their price, its concerning.
2 other injoras work just fine, but they're in another vehicle. So I've decided to just go brushless on this one and pick up the Komodo kit, just need to save for the lizard pro/ultimate.
My advice, definitely stay away from the torque beast! 😬

Totally agree with you with brushless vs. brushed, preach this for over a year now.
