The military advisor for the movie was a former SAS operator called Andy McNab. I guess he earned his fee for that job.
Andy Mc Nabb is the commander of the Famed Bravo 2 0 patrol in Iraq.
It was also former SAS Mick Gould who also did advising for Michael Manns movie 'Collateral' with Tom Cruise
WDW
It was Mick Gould who did the training for Heat
@@mikeoscarone They both did, Andy McNab (aka Steve Mitchell and Mick Gould who was also former SAS) both trained the robbers in HEAT, Director Michael Mann has used Gould in several of his movies as a tech advisor. Mann also used several LAPD or LA Sheriff's police firearms instructors to train the actors playing the detectives separately so their tactics and gun handling manipulations would match appropriately to their roles the movies. Al Pacino wanted a full auto gun for the movie and got denied by Mann because it wouldnt be realistic to his role. Michael Mann is famous in all of his movies to having super realistic period accurate gun fights down to the round count of bullets fired per magazine. (Heat, Collateral, Miami Vice, etc)
"Never get attached to anything that you are not willing to walk on in 30 seconds flat if you spot the heat coming around the corner " heat is the best heist film ever.
When you're firing 53 rounds out of one mag, you get that Hollywood accurate sensation lol
Yes for sure you do. You never run out of ammo. Lol
There are points in the movie where theoretically someone could reload out of frame.
They were reloading at least gotta give them that
at least they did use 60 round mags here lol
@@jacobstaten2366 some trainers used Val Kilmer’s emergency reload as a challenge as in “if you can’t reload as fast as this actor, you’re wrong!”
You got to reenact the Heat scene, that's way past bucket list
Ian McCullum had a similar range day, but it wasn't quite as meticulous. Still fun though.
That Val Kilmer alone deserves an Oscar for best hairdo.
LOL agreed!
Val Kilmer is fukkin AWESOME......
He was on fire in the 90s.
How in the fuck does this not have millions of views. Pure gold!!!
It came out 5 min ago chill out lol
@@engineer12vbeen 3 months now and I’m just seeing this. Kinda crazy it doesn’t have more, quite possibly one of the best gun-tuber videos out
Don't you mean. Pure Brass?
Guarantee it's cause the format. The action that everyone wants to see is 14 min into the video.
Heat is probably the best shootout scene I've ever seen (and the most realistic in my opinion).
Definitely had the best sound 👌
2nd Favorite(s) coming in from Collateral for me!
The usmc actually use that scene in training from what I hear
Michael Mann usually think of it.. the Miami Vice movie also had good scenes.. its probably down to.. it is really , really loud.. and most miss that..
Wind river shootout seemed crazy realistic until the 45 70 entered the fight
So, a takeaway I got from this that they really only partially address is that they need to make their bullpup that takes the Quattro magazines next.
They stated that they cant do it beacuse it would interfere with the linkages in the bullpup system.
One of the best reenactments I've seen. Oscar given on instant.
1 point worth mentioning, the police actually have revolvers mostly. Hannah has a Colt Commander. This is the same kind of problem the cops had in the North Hollywood shootout. If the cops had glocks, they would have had a higher capacity and would have been able to reload faster. That puts me an even bigger disadvantage.
The OCD in me wishes he would have used iron sights.
The cops had Berettas as well as Revolvers and a few shotguns. It was a gun store owner who provided the ARs in that shootout.
@@ratagris21 sorry, my wording was off. I meant in the movie. That's why I said "same kind of problem" referring to the real life scenario. Maybe I should have put that sentence first. 🤦♂️
@@ratagris21and people talk about the "militarization of police" well because of incidents like that police departments started getting more funding and firepower
You guys needed that 'stinkin' Lincoln' ride for more interior space! Was too cramped for rifles and money bags in that so-called "full sized" car by modern day standards. lol
"Neil" (Deniro) showed his criminal mastermind in his decision to choose a land yacht for the getaway vehicle. lol
For reals! It was tight.
Holy crap you actually shot through the windshield from inside the car!
Aspirating silica for views makes you cool now. Morons.
Sabretooth looks impressive ! Good guys reinacting as the bad guys, was fun to watch.
Holy muzzle flash!
Didn't know 5.56 blasts could rip off car interior so easy.
Thanks video is really entertaining and infomative
Glad you liked it!
Me either thats crazy 😝
People will probably underestimate 556 untill the end of time.
Love it! I larped at Neal McCauley (DeNiro's character from Heat) at Desert Brutality 2020 with a reproduction CAR-15 build and a vest that I made up out of a Condor MOLLE rig along with Velcro One-Wrap and some black duct tape. Good times!
You could be part of Neal's crew
@@jonathanramos8414 "Well, you know, for me, the action is the juice. I'm in."
Barrel and trigger control is more than paramount, it has to be 100% mandatory, with zero errors. This was actually a lot more dangerous to re-enact than most people can imagine.
Very nicely done, gentlemen. Dangerous, but well played out. I agree, Heat is legendary.
I'm only mildly mad I need to now replace my mdrx with a new toy.
Same boat bro
I think that was the intent of the exercise.
Desert Tech looks like a fun company to work for.
I bet even the janitor comes out for range days....or wants and tries to.
It would be nice to see this reenactment using original movie Colt 733 and relying only on iron sights. I still liked it.
1995 style baby!
Best film ever. Hands down best film.
They all killed it, but Val Kilmer was my favorite. One of the greatest movies ever made.Downtown like that would have been so loud
THIS IS EPIC!!! Awesome video and awesome new products!🤘
Thanks so much!!
My buddy has a Springfield Hellion and loves bullpups. I am considering a Desert Tech because I love the innovation. You are not satisfied with good enough, you are constantly looking at ways to improve your rifles and that is the kind of stuff that excites me. Keep up the great work guys 👍
Quit thinking about it and get one. You'll never regret it. I love my SRS so much it has a place setting at the formal dining room table.
Which reminds me I need to order another chair for my new WLVRN.
@@jstray2321 I like the way you think 😉
Legend has it that since the day his eyes first opened, Nicholas has never blinked. Whenever asked about why, he simply replies "who has time for blinking when there's so much future to see". His mother, in a later interview, stated that he read that on a fortune cookie when he was 7 and that is when he committed to sleep with his eyes always open and never blink again. It might be pure coincidence but the lucky numbers on that fortune were 4 4 4 4 4 and 53.
lol, I actually sleep with my eyes open too. 💪🏻
This is AMAZING! Well done gentlemen. Loved it!
Thanks so much!
The blonde wig is hilarious. Awesome idea!
This is literally like having a mock run before getting ready to rob a bank lol 👍
Lol
I see I’m not the only one still infatuated by this film
THIS IS WAY COOLER THAN THE MOVIE WTF
I wouldn't replace an MDRX, I would get it a little brother so it doesn't feel lonely. I Love this video guys, I had a huge smile all throughout the shooting scene, looking forward to more vids like this. I love your products, your innovation, your vision and dedication. Thank you for all you do. God bless and be safe guys.
You are the MAN!
That’s how a KICK-ASS CEO SHOULD BE!
Andy McNabb was a adviser for "Heat" still 1 of the best films.
22nd SAS regiment fought in the Persian gulf and in northen Ireland
Yeah!!!!! So cool!
Lots of hot brass flying all over the inside of that car.
Major gassy in there too!
LOL, good timing, watched this movie just yesterday 😀
Great muzzle awareness too
We watched Heat in boot camp. Our Senior DI rewound when Val Kilmers character reloaded. He said that’s the standard. He said you can go faster but you’ve gotta be smooth.
Man you guys absolutely killed this! So entertaining to watch, loved the planning and safety behind it all, excellent job!
Damn near got silicosis from that windshield lol
What a job men ! I have seen Heat in 1995 and it was a real shock ! Nice to see your great remade of that epic shootout. Mike from France !
kudos to michael mann for leaving the audio alone it makes this scene so much more intense
Yall
Had to have a blast doing this!
Oh we did! 🤓🤓
This was super cool. Best heat shootout reenactment by far
Это было великолепно.
Мой вывод: в реальности, винтовки грабителей гораздо смертоносней.
I have a new life goal: own so many machine guns and ammo that coockoffs become my biggest issue on the range...
Not gonna lie...but I had a huge smile on my face during the fire fight. Well done gentlemen 😁
OMG!!! Chef’s kiss boys!! Chef’s kiss.
13:31 that is one badass transition. Props to your editor. 👍
The movie in real life going for a shootout
Damn the GCA and NFA
WOW 13:23 this transition was great!
Wow WOW WOW.
This is absolutely fantastic!
That looks like SO much fun!!
Oh it was!
Fantastic video! Can’t wait till the WLVRN hits the market!
So much work, preparation, safety and editing went into this. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never delt with full auto.. cook offs SUCK.. GREAT VIDEO and Thank you for it and your hard work and dedication.. and attention to details.....
For me at least when I saw the first time the movie and even second time this thing that strike me most it wasn't in fact the action but the sound. The sound in the city it was amazing and I think this is the real secret of the action part.
agreed! We needed some better microphones to capture the gun fire.
Men...
We are just grown ass kids aren't we?
Cool ass video. 🤙🏾
The sunglasses mounted cameras are crystal clear. that's the best head mounted camera footage I have ever seen.
AimCam hooked us up! It really did a great job immersing viewers into the experience.
@@DesertTechUT thanks for bringing Aimcam to the attention of your audience. I was trying to guess if you were using a DJI O3 air unit from a quad attached to your glasses but to know there’s a dedicated product out there to get this kind of footage opens up a lot of possibilities
this is like a freaking wet dream lol well played!
Glad I watched, good work guys. Looked like fun
Oh it was!
This was 👍
Incredible, well done gentlemen
Thanks!
I was hoping the driver was going to do the "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" part. Love the video though!
Amazing work guys congratulations from Chile 🇨🇱!
Damn this is cool. That car is absolutely totalled though.
The why is self explanatory.
That Sabertooth really is a beauty.
The engine block and wheels are supposed to be the safest places to hide behind.
Ah, nothing like inhaling glass dust in a moving vehicle for content.
that looked like a blast! no pun intended
Badass! Love this
You guys did an amazing job at this love the camera angles too well thought out bravo guys bravo.
Nick you guys need to do a new AR15 Upper Receiver that has a titanium trunnion insert with the bolt locking quick change barrel, to go with your Quattro Lower , and the free floating style of handguards on the new Wolverine Rifles... I'm a big fan of you guys designs ...
Heat is by far one of my favorite movies. Amazing re-enactment, with live rounds..... Amazing to say the least, great video, great everything....
Glad you enjoyed it
I guess the up side is as you blow through ammo, the load gets lighter!
Nice job guys!! But you started with THE most epic gun battle ever put on film. That sequence in Heat is still unmatched to this day (tho Pacino still looks a bit ridiculous with his FN!), so anything you do afterwards is gonna be something less iconic IMO. But enjoyed the vid, very cool to see how you put it together, rehearsed and the after action brief! Well done!
Thanks!
What are you talking about that fn fnc was beautiful. And Pacino looked like a boss
Sick! Wish I had a firearm that could go full auto. Looks like tons of fun.
I am so jelly you guys rocked this!
I was surprised at how stable that full auto fire was, and how many of those rounds found their targets.
Awesome!
Great idea for a video! It was done superbly, thanks for an informative and fun watch!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That turned out really well. great work! It didn't seem easy but it definitely must have been fun.
This was pretty F'ing awesome, good job.
The best male actors of our time all together in the same movie....... Val Kilmer's firearms handling protocol is perfection. I read that the bank robbery scene is used in training for FBI and police departments in the USA. This scene and the scene in the movie Collateral where Tom Cruise deals with some guys who stole his briefcase are the two best gunfight scenes ever in modern movies.
EPIC!!!
"Val Kilmore" love that guy. lol, kidding aside. Awesome video, thanks for the effort guys!
What are you a munk? This video kicks ass buddy.
Cool!
Good job !!!
What a fing cool video!!!!!! Well Done!
Heat=GOAT
Fantastic!
Many thanks!
This was so fun to watch it reminds me of 04 Iraq tooling around in a discovery (which is horrible to de-bus from in full combat load minus plate carrier they had not came out). I do wish we had a bulpup that had 53round mags over the issue A1 and 30rds.
That was Bad Ass!! Michael Mann would be proud.
Pretty awesome!
Thanks!
That was fun and amazing to see. At first, I thought it would be kind of toned down and lame, but it ended up being a wild ride. I held my breath most of the way through.
Well said!
We were holding our breath at points too! 😮
If I remember correctly, Heat was the inspiration for the North Hollywood Shootout. I remember the PD had to get armament from nearby gun stores as handguns were not effective.
That shootout is part of the reason why patrol cops now carry m4s in their cruisers.
I'm just here, hotdogin'.
Heat is a favourite film of mine, that Wayne Grow is a bastard 😜🇬🇧
Looks like a lot of fun!
This was awesome! Thank you for the after action report. I appreciate the educational aspects about cook-off considerations and how to stay safe on the range or in reenactments.
Glad you enjoyed it!
