    I'm thrilled to present my new personalized vocal program SINGING IGNITION!
    www.singingignition.com
    SINGING IGNITION is a revolutionary self-study singing program that lets you practice techniques and exercises customized for you...wherever and whenever you want!
    The basic problem with a video or audio recording, whether on RUclips or a self-study course, is it can’t give you the valuable feedback you need! They can’t determine what your voice specifically needs, curate the exercises that will work for you, and then adjust the exercises according to how your voice reacts.
    That’s what a good voice teacher does. They tailor the content of their lessons to your needs.
    But maybe you aren’t ready to commit to regular lessons. Or maybe you just can’t afford a voice teacher right now. Times are tough!
    So you're stuck either booking a voice teacher, which can get expensive and has limited hours. Or you are forced to use a self-study course that can’t really give you the feedback you need to excel...
    ...and maybe you just don't feel comfortable quite yet, sharing your talent with anyone else!
    Finally, all of this has been solved by the revolutionary new system SINGING IGNITION!

    I love how during the Bratty Nay , you said "chest chest chest mix mix mix chest chest chest chest" . BECAUSE my students sometimes have such a hard time remembering that they can come BACK into chest voice ! They think they have to stay in mix the entire exercise at first , so it's SOOOO good that you said that !!!!

    • @SpencerWelchVocalStudio
      @SpencerWelchVocalStudio  3 года назад +8

      Yes! Mix voice can only exist when chest voice is the foundation. The lowest notes will get too light if mix voice is dragged down there, and then the whole voice gets weaker.

    • @SpencerWelchVocalStudio

      Everyone is different when it comes to seeing results. First, it depends on what you consider "results": perhaps the ability to sing a mix voice on all the vowels? or to sustain mix voice? to apply it to an easier song? to apply it to a more difficult song?
      And then the second variable is who you are: your history with singing, the good and bad habits you've developed, how often you practice, how well you practice, the genetic construction of your voice, etc... This is why it's impossible to predict the timeline of a singer's development, especially one that I have never heard or worked with :)

      I would have to hear you to know for sure, but if you are getting louder on your higher notes, you could be bringing up too much chest voice and getting too heavy. For right now, focus on trying to keep all the notes in your exercises the same volume or even allow your higher notes to be softer temporarily. This can give your mix voice the chance to develop.

    Thank you so much for this workout. I still haven’t mastered my mix voice like I want too. With the exercises I can do it, but when singing an actual song and I start to go higher it just looses the sound and texture and goes light and weaker. Not the same voice. My range seems to have dropped over the years and I am struggling to hit high notes like I use too. Me and my husband sing with out three children in a southern gospel group and I can tell I just can’t reach my part like I use to and it is very discouraging. I am 60 years old and we don’t get to get together to practice as much since they all got married, like we did when they were kids and was with us all the time. Is there another vocal workout for women that could help me get my range back?

    • @SpencerWelchVocalStudio
      @SpencerWelchVocalStudio  3 года назад

      I can't say for sure what's going on in your voice without working with you in a lesson, but it sounds like your higher notes are getting lost because your chest voice is getting weaker. Are your lower notes sounding full and clear similar to your speaking voice? Or are your lower notes strong, but then your voice breaks or flips into that light, breathy sound for the higher notes?

    • @terrisego6730

    Uuuhhh, for me as a woman this is much too high :-o Mind if I do the exercises for guys? :-)

    • @SpencerWelchVocalStudio
      @SpencerWelchVocalStudio  3 года назад

      Of course, you can do what you want, but unless you're a true alto (which is pretty rare) your high range is probably limited because you don't spend enough time up in your head voice and mix voice. Most women are some kind of soprano, but if they only develop their chest voice, they are only using 1/3 of their voice.
      Of course, I would have to hear you and work with you to know for sure, but my suggestion would be to try singing along with this video and drop out whenever it gets far too high. Then come back in when it comes back into your range. But first, push yourself just a little to attempt notes that you usually don't sing in songs. The only way to grow is to take yourself out of your comfort zone.

    • @voicefromdown
      @voicefromdown 3 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for your answer. I am an alto, yes. Don't know, how low I can sing, but lower than a D3. I tried the female exercises, but I had to quit at the beginning of that 2nd passage and get again into it, when it becomes lower. I know I have to train my upper voice, but ... uuuhhh that hurted today, cause I have to keep my mouth closed :-)

    • @SpencerWelchVocalStudio
      @SpencerWelchVocalStudio  3 года назад +1

      Ah I see. Well, definitely don't do anything that will hurt your voice. There is a way to develop your upper range that shouldn't irritate the vocal cords. If you have a heavier voice, you might want to work on this under the tutelage of an experienced voice teacher so they can tailor your workout to the exercises and the keys that you need. Like I mentioned before the authentic alto voice type is quite rare (I've taught only 11 in 25 years!) but whatever your voice type is, if you can sing down to a D3 and lower, you have some nice thickness in the voice. It's important to learn how to stretch and thin that out in your upper registers to balance out and fully develop your voice :)
