    In this video I go over the basics of Arbitrage trading, which is the most basic form of Trading in EVE Online. In it's simplest terms you are buying low and selling high, however it's important to know where you break even margin is and to make sure you always trade items with better than break even margins.
    Over the course of this video I double my ISK in about 30 minutes of trading. This is normal, however the more ISK you have the slower your returns become. But up to a few hundred million it is very fast if you trade actively and constantly update orders.
    I also gave a few tips about ways to increase profits, items to trade, and how you can make 4 times as much by taking advantage of the unlimited nature of alpha clone accounts.

    Thanks to this guide I started playing Eve on 1/07/17 and today on 1/22 my Character has paid for PLEX and still has a net worth of 1.07B isk. There was some investment by others in the game but I would not have shown the promise for them to do so if I had not learned what I learned here. Many thanks

      I also have a question about statistic of sell and graphics. Haw know exactly what means information of value, quantity - is this all of type of maded orders or just orders for buy: the quantity is mean all buy\sell or just buyed items and so on? In graphic can't understand what means blue and orange lines. Well i want deep understand statistic information and graphics.
      If you can, pls make video.
      P.s. I'm brand new player bot in few days i make couple millions in day just craft and sell items, so if i will have deep understanding statistic it will be real help me calculate where was war and need supplies, where is low trade traffic and now sens trade there and so on. It's really hard find out is item was buyed for normal price in dig amount, or it was just selling and no one want buy this item, and it's no sens to place order for selling.

      I 'm not sure what you are asking. There is more detail available in the Price History tab. Also, websites like EVE-Marketdata.com have good statistics.
      As for finding areas where fighting is happening, a website called Dot-Lan is useful for that.
      My recommendation for trading is to start small and try new items, see if they work, if not drop them and try something else.?
      Then slowly expand until you have 4 Alpha Clone Accounts with one in each Market Hub (Jita, Dodixie, Amarr, and Rens) You could even expand out further to smaller market hubs where volumes are much smaller but you can buy for far less than in Jita. Buy near War Zones and haul to Jita to sell.

      First of all, I will not make 4 clones, because I play just my main hero for fun, not to real big profit and don't want fest plex without fun.
      I craft items and sell them with 10-400% of margin and make this stable ;) And this is interesting - I'm not just reselling items, I made them and sell for real price not like others noobs(1KKK for garbage), so players take it and I still left in plus profit :) And this is fun and useful, bot.... in game statistic Price History have leerily information:
      For example you see in tabs that was 2 orders and 400 quantity, bot that can means like:
      1. someone sell 60 items and someone sell 340 items for ship price and NO ONE buy them. So this is not place for trading - in this station or even in all region this stuff is not needed!
      2. someone sell 10 items for chip price to reseller like you in video ;) bot other 390 of quantity was BUY for +- normal price and that means this exactly item is popular there!
      Bot Price History don't tell us exactly what means they tabs. If this mixed information of buy\sell orders and buy\sell quantity so this statistic kind garbage :(
      Dot-Lan know, good site. Also know about eve-central.com
      Try search in EVE-Marketdata.com bot I doubt that there are such information.
      Maybe later, when I grow up in crafting, I will sell expensive Tech II stuff, bot now i have few position in market +- 2 kk ISK profit in a day without reselling and making clones. I even can buy resources for crafting and still be in profit :) I'm not run for easy ISK, plex end so on, I'm play in game and try have fun, make business, find contracts and fill like real space businessman what really helps someone and not just have his easy ISK for nothing :)

    This is a really good guide on how to use the Market but I'd not really encourage New Players to think they are going to be making billions in no time.
    One thing I will re-emphasize here - because I constantly see evidence that people do not understand this - is that on a Sell Order - the Low Bidder - will _ALWAYS_ get the sale. The game will not ALLOW you to to buy from anyone else but the low bidder. You can pick one of the other bidders prices - but the sale WILL go to the person with the low bid - just at the price you elected to pay. Sometimes I have seen items listed for sale for millions of ISK - when the price they were selling at was vastly lower. On occasion - where I was the low bidder - I made millions of ISK off a cheap item I was selling for hundreds - because someone had accidentally clicked on the wrong item - and paid like a million ISK for it - and all that money went to me - not that smart ass who put that item up for sale at that price - because I was the low bidder. I would usually check the age of the character who had made that mistake - and if they were new - give them their money back.
    If you look at the items that OP was buying and selling - these were things he knew from experience were good things to buy and sell - and - he new what his margin had to be to make it worth while. The problem here - is that this stuff changes all the time. What was a really good item you could make a lot of money off of ... not that long ago ... can become something you really want to stay away from.
    One factor in that is the Band Wagon Effect which you will see throughout EVE and IRL. Something is REALLY good to do - so - EVERY BODY starts doing it - and after a while ... it's no longer such a good thing to do.
    Now - one thing about those 4 Alpha Accounts - where you put one in each trade hub - that gives you 8 other characters you can create. One of the things you can do is have some of then doing entirely different things.
    Another thing you can do for Trading - is have some of them located at spots where they can readily jump between Regions. The Market only shows prices for one region. Sometimes people don't check what the price is for something in a neighboring region - and if YOU do - you can make some real money that way. You just need to be able to haul things from one place to another. Here you want to be familiar with what the price differences are - and - how long it's going to take you to haul what you buy to where you can sell it.
    Now - the next possible step in the above process - is dependent on what you want to do. If what you want to do is maximize the money you make off of your sales - then setting a long term sale of a large number of items may be the way to go. If what you want to do - is get a quick turn around on your money - then selling to buy orders will give you that immediate turn around.
    One of the first things I did trading - was to note that there was a substantial profit to be made buying a specific thing in one region - jumping a few times to get to another - and then selling it immediately. THEN I took the money I now had - went back to where I'd gotten the items and bought more of them. THEN I sold them - and took the money I now had - and went back and bought STILL MORE. I plowed my Hauler back and forth between my seller for these items and my buyer until I'd bought and sold ALL of them - something I wasn't even close to being able to do all at once - but - turning my money around with every load - I was eventually able to do that.
    Here - I was Selling Immediate - which some people will tell you is anathema to traders - but maximizing my profit over time - didn't matter. What mattered was the rapid turn around of my money - which allowed me to substantially increase my Capital. Whatever I could have made over time - by rapidly turning my money over - I was able to quickly increase my Capital.
    The problem with doing this - is knowing to do it - knowing that there is an item that you can do this with. There usually isn't.
    There are a lot of "Games Traders Play" and I don't think for a second I know them all but there are a few things they can do.
    There are a couple of ways the can seek to gain control of a market.
    One way is to lower the price on items until your competition is forced to lower their prices as well if they are ever going to see a sale. You work them down until you think the time is right - and then you buy them all out and jack the price back up to where it had been. This, of course, is a "it takes money to make money" strategy.
    There is a counter to that though - wherein - you can either get the items much cheaper than you are ever selling them for - or make them cheaply. Here - what you do - is feed them until they choke. You post a really low price - and they buy you out - so you sell them more and more and more and more - until they have bought more of those items than they can EVER sell. You'll know you've won when they stop buying your stuff or changing their orders - or their orders disappear because they've moved somewhere that YOU aren't. At that point - you can go back to 1 Centing things without having to deal with that competitor.
    Trust me - there are any number of "Games Trader's Play" and anyone who think's Trading isn't a PVP activity ... is wrong.

    The math for the break even only works like that (just adding 2xbroker fees and sales tax together) if you're selling and buying at the same price, which by definition isn't profitable. For all other cases it's a little more complicated. How far off you are with the result depends on the difference between buy and sale value. You're probably best off just using a spread sheet to calculate but you'll want something like 15-20% difference anyway to make a decent amount of profit.
    Another potentially useful tip: You make your money on the buy orders, not on the sell orders. Try buying stuff for a lower price than usual, not jump on something you see an unusually high buy order on. At worst you cancel your buy order and lose the broker fee but if you can't get rid of an item you bought you have that isk bound and won't be able to reinvest or lose 2x broker fee + sales tax if you are forced to sell it to an existing buy order.

      1) You can have as many Alpha Accounts as you want.
      2) You can use the same E-mail Address for all your EVE accounts - because - with EVE - you have a User Name that you log in with - not an email address. Games where you login with an e-mail address and password - are going to limit you to one account per address because they are going to match your password to that specific e-mail address - but - since you log into EVE with a User Name and Password - passwords are matched to that User Name - not to the e-mail address.
      3) EVE is designed to allow you to have multiple accounts running on the same computer - but - those accounts ALL have to be Omegas.
      4) When running an Alpha account - you can only run that one single account. You cannot run another Alpha Account - OR - an Omega Account at the same time.

    Cool video! I started as a complete noob a week ago, and got fed up with the low payouts from the regular missions, so i did the Epic Arc missions, which ended up with 15m ISK. All nice and well, but i didnt make money after, so i tried mining, which took forever. Then i tried High buy vs low sell between systems. Too much risk, too slow. Then i started exploring, and that is the way to go for a noob like me. 360m ISK in 3 days, roaming null sec and wh. Scary shit, because they find me a lot, but heck its awesome when you hack a 15m ISK for the first time.

    Not sure if this has been mentioned already cause I cant be arsed to read all the replies below. In the video, he said to go and do missions to raise your standing to lower your buying and selling costs. The fastest way to get you standing up is to train "Connections" in the social skill tree. This gives + 4% per level trained. I went from 0.32 faction and 0.51 Faction standings, whilst running level 1 missions for a couple of hours, up to 1.24 Faction and 1.83 Corporation, which should be pretty significant. I will keep training this for as long as I can afford, and run some level 2 missions to see how far I can get in another few hours.

    As an alpha clone, I find it way, way easier to jumpstart your Jita market career by starting your trading with skilbooks. The reason being that the cheaper skillbooks have profit margins of over 100%, sometimes even more, if you buy them at schools 2 jumps away. And after a quick round trip, you can start selling them right away. No need to wait for people taking your buy orders first. They all sell reasonably fast too, even the T2 and capital skillbooks that have margins of millions on them, easily sell in a day with little monitoring.
    Also for the other, slower markets are skillbooks a good early trade investment in my experience, if you do a good dubbelcheck on trading volume that is. The reason being that for quite a few skillbooks there are simply no competitors on those markethubs. So for a Tech 2 skillbook bought at a school 2 jumps away for 5 million ISK, you can actually set your own price and sell it the same day for double the price at your local market. That's easy money in the beginning, especially if you're into slow trading.
    Only after I gained a few easy million ISK from high margin skillbooks, I started shifting to quick turn-over buy orders with lower margins. Btw, the Burger method for analysing market graphs really helped me well with this: wiki.eveuniversity.org/How_to_identify_items_to_trade.
    From a trading perspective, it's also highly recommended in my experience as an alpha clone to do active PVE and PVP on your other accounts. Because only then you get a good insight in which goods are often used in fighting and therefore in high demand on markets.

    For a buy order - make a fake buy order on the top item, the price is already in the field and can be modified by the mouse wheel or the arrow keys
    For a sell order make a fake buy order on the top item and select "Advanced" to get a copyable price field.

    It actually wasn't a mistake. He was selling to buy orders, but the top buy order couldn't fully fill his order so it auto-list them as sell orders. This means his only mistake was not choosing immediate when selling to buy orders because he paid brokers fees when he didn't need to (brokers fees go away when choosing immediate instead of a timeframe).

    Pro Tip: Gmail (and probably a few others) don't recognize periods in email addresses. So it your email is bob@gmail, you can make another alpha account using b.ob@gmail, another using b..ob@gmail, etc and they'll all go to your bob@gmail account. Although you'll also probably get multiple copies of EVE spam as well.

    And most importantly, don't forget guys: If you don't enjoy it, DO NOT do it. It' EvE, there are tons of things even alpaca clones can do to earn money: Exploration (relic sites), gas harvesting in wormholes, scanning down with combat probes ppl doing missions in Battleships/Marauders in Osmon or other popular mission hubs, warping to them and salvaging the wrecks (10-30 mil per hour easy for a noob). Google around or ask in Eve's help chat channels, there are tons of things to do. Or rather stop being cheap and buy a subscription.

    @35:20 you give the wrong explanation on what happened and why that item was priced so low. You assumed it was because the seller messed up, but what really happened was that the seller had more items in his inventory to fill that buyorder and the remaining items are then put up for sale automatically.

    Hi, I'm trying to do this at Amarr trade hub, there are actually 1000 players in local, but no one is buying or selling anything to me. I'm only buying stuff if there is that 20% difference between buy orders and sell orders and I'm only buying stuff used in pvp. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is it that I just need to be more patience?

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  7 лет назад

      Depends alot of the item and whether you are the lowest/highest order. Some items have very low turn over but things like Cap Booster Charges, Faction Ammo, and Light Drones have a pretty fast turn over. Double check and make sure you are setting your orders up correctly. Beyond that, let a day pass then check them and you should see some good turnover.

    Thanks for this great guide. I have around 400/500 mil and want to start trading, but dont want to trade in such small volumes. Do you have any advise for medium level trades? Should I go for high volume like ammo, or expensive individual sales?

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  7 лет назад +1

      It scales the same for more expensive items and high volume low margin stuff. In general as you get more ISK you want to expand into more total open orders (more variety of items).
      The main thing to watch out for are items that are very low volume and easy manipulated and uncommon items. You really want to focus your trading on items that are bought and sold often, but just more of them and at a higher price.
      One way to do that is to buy and sell T1 Ships because pilots often "trade up" which makes for a nice profit for Destroyers, Cruisers, and Battlecruisers.

    IMPORTANT TIP!!!: As an Alpha. Be careful when you're using big ISK on orders. When you place a big 'buy order' you're already paying a 5% tax at best. So if you change your mind because the competition is too tough or you don't like it anymore and you take the order down. You're going to lose a lot of ISK fast.

  • @zupercooer9436
    @zupercooer9436 7 лет назад

    question, I noticed you were only comparing prices of your station, was it coincidence that other stations weren't in the list (aside from the citadel)? and do the other stations in the region affect the prices that you would sell them at?

    • @DieEnteable
      @DieEnteable 7 лет назад

      Yes, coincidence. Jita 4 has the best prices (lowest sell- and highest buyorders) for most things so they'll appear on top. Since most people are lazy don't bother trying to undercut lower orders from somewhere else within the region. If it's really low you may want to buy and haul the stuff to jita though.

    Can't you skip brokers fees on buy orders by placing them from a 0% tax citadel? (Called "offshoring")

    • @Eveproguides
      @Eveproguides  7 лет назад

      I think the only remote trading skill Alphas get is Marketing, which is just for sell, so I'm not sure how viable it is for a Alpha Clone.

    • @DieEnteable
      @DieEnteable 7 лет назад

      Yeah, you can. You don't need any skills for it either. Just set a buy order centered on the citadel (ranged buy orders use the broker fees of the station you are setting it at anyway) with 1 jump range, 1 jump away from Jita. I don't think there are any citadels with 0% broker fees within 1 Jump of Jita currently but the Perimeter one has 0.1% which might as well be 0 for someone with the limited trade volume of an alpha clone.
      This only really works in the large trading hubs, best of all Jita because most people will sell their stuff there anyway so you don't need to haul anything. Some of it will end up in some of the other stations but Imo that's well worth the 2.5%+ savings on the broker fee. Just get a cheap industrial and move the few things that don't get fulfilled in Jita there every so often.

    so let me get this straight, first you talk about how you want at least a 20% margin on the salvager thingy, the next thing you do is put up a cap Booster buy order for 106K where the lowest sell order is around 117K .... did I miss something here?
    I mean it's probably still above break even... but just saying ....
    Ok lol, I hadn't watched it past that point yet, but then you came to antimatter ammo and found out yourself ;-). I do feel like your presentation could be condensed a bit and focus more on explaining things (why this stuff works for example, what can happen depending on how sales + buys go and why they would/could go either direction) ... still enjoying it though, no worries! (I haven't played EVE in years..., but interesting video!)

    • @duskipls
      @duskipls 7 лет назад +2

      MesMerWolf Sorry for the necro reply but I'm pretty sure you're looking for this:
      Buy price - Sell Price = Profit
      Profit / Buy = %Profit
      Fair warning this is very basic and does NOT cover brokers fees and the like.
      Also it doesn't take sell volume into account, but make sure you make sure what you're selling will actually be a moving product haha. You can gauge that by looking at the daily average orders on the price history tab.
      Oh and a cleaned up version of the formula because I'm pretty OCD:
      (Buy -- Sell)/Buy = %Profit
