I would recommend selling this (or providing it for free) as an audiobook on Amazon. Alternatively transcribe it into book-format and sell/give it the same way. There are an extremely small number of actual informative content like this in the book-style marketplace (I've checked.) So it could expand both players knowledge, and your own fanbase greatly. I can say I would personally pay you to have a book-style version of this to access on the fly considering how much information this is.

Very good work man. I always check out videos like these when I think about getting back into the game. Looking for new ways to play. I tried most but I liked to combine combat PvE and salvaging as my main career. Always seemed the safest too as you can easily defend yourself or scare off most gankers. I tried mining, hauling, and trading but honestly there was nothing like the thrill of taking a group into a large rat station and cleaning it out while a massive war raged nearby. Getting involved in those wars as a mercenary was also very profitable. So many careers just in combat alone that are not mentioned. I know I participated in a stealth bomber recon group. There were 8 of us and we would watch shipping lanes and markets when big battles where about to take place or were raging in the process. We would take out freighters or other designated HVTs (jumpers, command ships, support ships, etc) if the opportunity presented itself (always as a privateer though, never going full outlaw). Going outlaw seemed to remove opportunities for me. If I mentioned I was a sword for hire then past grievances were just business choices that could easily be rectified otherwise peoples egos had you blackmarked for life if you were just an evil ganker. Heck you can make just as much money or more as a hauler running escort for haulers. It required a decent amount of situational awareness. Some of those outlaw pirates would try to bait you away from the freighters so you had to be on your toes. Got paid for a contract mid shipment when a... let's say a captain of a large freighter made a poor decision to jump with a 500 mil cargo load. We just happened to be 10 jumps out. They were tech 1 suicide gankers but we managed to save him about 30% into structure. We pretty much wiped each other out but the freighter got away. Paid for our losses and a cool 20 mil bonus. I was also there for the ultimate corp theft of Band of Brothers (BoB) by goonswarm (I think if I remember correctly). What a sight that was. The whole freakn server set aside their differences for a day. There was no fighting for the entire day across the server as we all cheered. I think Jita was pretty much impossible to get into.
Maybe for some people, but it was a perfect speed for me because I have ASD and absorb information very slowly. For once, I didn't have to pause and rewind all the time. Thanks JD! 😀

I'm relatively new. Have one. Main and trying to double main. I created a new character just to join you guys. I decided to attempt the hard way to join you guys by flying through null sec, but all the gate camps prevent easy traversing. Lol I'm not mad or deterred. I still would love to attempt to fly my pod there lol, but I may need to just simply contact you guys through the recruitment channel.
Hi David, that's definitely the way to go. IronArmadaRecruitment in-game chat channel, spelled just like that. We typically recommend that you apply to us before you come out to see us, just so we don't shoot you as a neutral on the way. It would suck to get to Fountain and get podded back to Jita.
This is the most clear cut video ive seen so far, thank you. Im a newer player, started in security but theres so much more to this game than zapping and Imploding Computer controlled enemies. I'm leaning towards Exploration though as a second skill set. Again im new, idk the lingo haha
It is accessible to newbros and I believe it is one of the safer ways to earn money in EVE Online. However, 'safer' is of course a relative term. This is EVE Online, and people will sometimes blow you up just for the giggles, even in high security space. The best thing to do is to work with a mentor like myself or EVE University or Red vs Blue (anyone, really), to develop situational awareness and positive defensive behaviours.
I played EVE about 5 years ago, my favorite part was hauling for Red Frog Freight. I had four accounts, but one was a Red Frog Freight character (who did mining & industry as well) while two were freight haulers and the last was training up for one. With those two haulers, I was able to PLEX my accounts out after just a couple months. Granted, I did At The Keyboard hauling (AFK hauling takes 2x longer, at least, plus more susceptible to ganking) and PLEX was just over 1 bil ISK / month. Red Frog Freight was very newbie friendly. There are internal instructions on how to do insurance, contracts, look for scams, etc. For starting, you'll need two accounts: 1 to be in Red Frog and the 2nd to be an NPC corp hauler. Then, you'll need about 1.2 billion ISK or so. The first billion is to cover contracts collateral (not everyone does 1 bil collateral, but most did, when I was in) and the other 50-200 million is to cover your initial insurance. (There's info on how hauling will cover your insurance for you.) If you have a freighter that's trained up, I highly recommend trying out Red Frog Freight. Sign up ASAP. When I was in, the wait line was three months! (Although, after I was in, there were times where the wait was only one month.) If the wait line is three months or more, go ahead and sign up, even if your second pilot isn't fully trained; he'll be ready by the time they are. :)
I personally endorse Iron Armada. The level of mentor-ship that comes from it's leadership and members is second to none. Tridgit has created an A class organization here.
Darin Wetzel when I tried to look up iron guard I got four corps, blood fang iron guard, iron guard federation, iron horse guard, and the iron guard. When I click on them it says ‘no ad matched your search’
Hauling can be profitable, I hauled 16 jumps out and back from Jita, in return the customer bought me a fully equipped Orca, it was a beautiful day for one run.
I had a guy pick me up for his Corp, but they seem very chill about the game. Maybe even too chill like “meh” when it comes to doing things extra. I’ll definitely apply to iron armada if they continue to feel that way 👍🏻

You've made an amazing video, props for that. The only thing I would recommend is something for your RUclips titles. Instead of just putting "EVE Careers" or "Gallente Ships", I'd recommend making the title something like "EVE Careers - EVE Online". Not only would doing this help your videos pop-up in different search results (thus giving you more exposure), but it will also help be more organized (for playlists and whatnot). Obviously you don't have to do this (it's your channel after all), I just figured I would share my opinion with you in hopes that it will help you grow your channel more seeing as you seem to put a lot of effort into the videos you create.
Neracious it's a good suggestion, but one that is accomplished by all of the SEO optimization efforts I put into my videos. Titles reflect only a tiny portion of the overall algorithm results in search.

Nice video^^ the only thing i dont agree with you on is that you shouldnt plan your career around profit, but rather around having fun. If you think making money is fun do it, if you like to die in a fire for the tenthousands time, then do that. Most newbees i talked too, including some rl friends said that everybody was telling them how to make money, but nobody told them how to have fun. Alot of them stopped playing in the end.
I don't disagree with you. You shouldn't plan your EVE career around money, specifically, but you do need to learn how to be good enough at making in-game money that you can sustain whatever it is that you want to do. That's the focus of this video.
As a player who has been playing on and off since 2010, the recommendation I would give to a newbro is to be aware and research the corporations that might try to recruit you. Definitely avoid any highsec corporation who say they do all sorts of stuff and actively try to recruit you. Almost ALL of highsec corporations are just plain horrible and do not help newbros in the way they need...and if they say they are not, then really run away from them. They are probably worse than the other corporations... Read a lot of website and watch tons of RUclips videos in order to learn what you want to do.

Well define 'solo'... I have played eve on and off for the last 4 years and only spend a very few weeks in 2 corps when i was new. Ever since i have been living in an npc corp. And whenever i thought about joining a corp i had to think what a corp could offer what i dont have through public fleet options. I know 2 pubfleets for FW, 2 more that offer free 24/7 boost fleets. I know a pubfleet that 'holds' a non-sov null corner, there is bombers bar for well the obvious. There are Eve radio events of all sorts... I heard about somewhat public incursion fleets, and somewhat public WHs... There are pub fleets for almost everything. I am still thinking about enrolling an alt into a null sov alliance, though... Mark that as 'soonTM'
I played for one day on my first day of eve in 2003 died more then three times in four hours. i gave it a rest and decided to play the next month game said i had to pay 14 bucks i was like nope , paying for a game over and over just doesnt appeal for me. so i saved lets see ....i saved $3192 dollars . @@JuriusDoctor In my case, the price is not region based. 20 dollars flat is only broken by Steam's regional pricing, but not much. Back in time i played WoW specifically because it was p2p, hoping a better quality environment and it was good. But eve costs too much. For comparison, in my country, i can buy 1 month of eve on steam for the price of Witcher 3 GOTY, ES Skyrim, Euro Truck Simulator 2 with all map DLC save the last one.
Well, you already have one of the best defenses: ventures get a +2 warp stabilization by default. The only ship which can stop you with only a single scram is the Maulus Navy (which gets an additional +2 to warp scrambler / disruptor effectiveness). If someone tries to scram you, just warp off. Most of the time you'll get away - if someone is specifically hunting ventures they will have planned for that, by having a second scram or scram+point. But each turret you add takes away from mining lasers. Adding a defensive web takes away from tank. Just use combat drones or ECM drones if you're worried about getting away or fighting off rats.
Jurius Doctor Yeah thanks for the tip was worried about fighting off rats ended up having to tank a bit of damage while I mines surprisingly they have terrible aim when I'm orbiting an asteroid with after burners on. Being a fresh player I'm enjoying the game and figuring out it's mechanics.
I just started two days ago. Learned the hard way NOT to go afk for too long while mining. Lost my Venture and 700k worth of resources when a AI spawned and killed me. So far, mining is the only quick and easy way for a quick buck early game as far as I can tell. The community is generally nice, I've messaged almost everyone I've met in asteroid belts. Lots of people are loners and would rather play solo. But I'll look into your corporation. I want learn more
Hi Will, sorry for not replying sooner. If you're encountering a lot of 'loner' types in High Sec, that both is & isn't surprising to me. A lot of people who stick solely to high sec are either loners, as you put it, or people who are playing on alt characters while their main character is somewhere else doing something more engaging (or maybe they're just studying/playing other games/watching TV). A lot of people turn to mining as easy, passive income because it's a zen thing you can do without a lot of invested attention.
Yes, absolutely. In fact, the corporations you should look at if that's what you're interested in are Signal Cartel and Red Frog Freight. The first explores as a group, and as individuals, to improve navigation in EVE Online, and the other hauls stuff for money. :)
you don't have to join a corporation -- you started in one upon joining. it's called an NPC corporation. you can join a player owned corporation. it you don't like one that you joined and quit, you are automatically enrolled in another NPC corporation. .. CAS (Center for Advanced Studies) -- a Gallente NPC corp -- is one of the few that /or some of whose members/ actually do anything. last I knew they had mining, PvP, incursion, and wormhole groups .. an annual corporation combat tournament with prizes
Ok, so I did try this game back then. but quit, 'cause... well, aside from that "griefing" is "encouraged", (I mean, I'am aware that it's part of the game, but I can't help but still feel that it just penalizes newcommers for being inexperience.) IronArmadaRecruitment is not recruiting anymore, and does not seem to be as welcoming for any type of player as the video depict. Not that its the fault of the video creator :)
This video was recorded quite a while ago, and all mid-tier corporations go through periods where they either open or close recruitment. While it's rare, even the larger alliances close recruitment sometimes. As to your comment about not being friendly to newbros, it's quite the opposite. We help everyone who joins us, and I am personally mentoring several pilots who are new to the game and outside of Iron because they're not quite where they need to be in terms of fundamentals, yet. That said, just because we're good to newbros doesn't mean we won't haze you if you do something fucking stupid - like putting a Rorqual in siege with no scouts out - or boot your ass to the curb if we suspect you're a spy. This is EVE. HTFU.

H H That's fair, but something I think a lot of players miss in this video is that everything in EVE happens in service to PVP. At the end of the day, this is a PVP game first and foremost. Iron Armada is a mercenary alliance, we get paid to pick (and win) fights.

Your Combat Career section didn't say much of the ISK value of a military career. And the Outlaw Careers were rather vague. The suicide bomber, what stops the victim from recollecting their own stuff? The embezzler, how real life souless do you have to be to do such a thing? As complex and social as this shit is why are people wasting these skills in a game rather than using them to make money in real life? Many questions.
I got this game like 3 days ago and am interested in starting up a manufacturing corporation. Is it more effective to mine the resources for myself or buy it from mining corporations. Also could anyone reccomend newb friendly corporations that I could join to learn the ropes?
Yes and no: NPC mining fleets can - and do - mine out entire systems if they're left unchecked, leaving fewer resources for the PCs (Player Characters). However, everything made by players in EVE goes to other players in EVE.

I have hated that piece of lore about middle wage non-capsuleer families since the first time l heard it 6 years ago. Its extremely stupid since it definitely puts the economy of the empiress into serious questioning. In EVE online NPC ships are ubiquitous and interstellar travel is equally. A shuttle can cost as liitle as 50,000 ISK. For 4 people not to be able to afford that in their entire lives would mean that they would need to be making single digit yearly salaries for income. This creates so many questions about the world building that are never answered. Are capsuleer markets separate from regular ones? With their own inflation rates and prices? How many people are in the universe and what id the average cost of living look like? If middle wage is less than 50000 a lifetime what are the other commodity goods like? Food and water cost almost as much as that shuttle. Can people only barely afford food too? I don't understand. Thats so fucking stupid.
I'd say that the Venture, as designed and intended to be fit, is not a combat vessel. If you are mining in a frigate and someone warps in on you with a warship of any description, your ship is specially equipped with a built-in warp core stabilizer and you should run like a greased-up Usain Bolt because otherwise your ship is dead. Now, if you want to take a pointless fight because it makes you feel less weak, that's fine, but don't blame it on pussies, because they can push a kid out and with an attitude like that I'm sure you complain about particularly large shits.
I could certainly see mining of hauling as a nerdy way to chill or even a way to practise the so called "walking meditation" from buddhism, as a fancy sort of mining or hauling meditation. xD

To some it will certainly feel that way. It is, at its core, a PVP game. Playing the game is consenting to PVP. EVE is not like World of Warcraft. There are no Arenas. Everywhere is the Arena. That's part of the challenge, it's more like real life than any other game I've played - despite being a Sci-Fi Space Sim.

I think that was my problem I wanted to play solo in EVE using only two hours a week. EVE wasn't good for that.

It is accessible to newbros and I believe it is one of the safer ways to earn money in EVE Online. However, 'safer' is of course a relative term. This is EVE Online, and people will sometimes blow you up just for the giggles, even in high security space. The best thing to do is to work with a mentor like myself or EVE University or Red vs Blue (anyone, really), to develop situational awareness and positive defensive behaviours.
I played EVE about 5 years ago, my favorite part was hauling for Red Frog Freight. I had four accounts, but one was a Red Frog Freight character (who did mining & industry as well) while two were freight haulers and the last was training up for one. With those two haulers, I was able to PLEX my accounts out after just a couple months. Granted, I did At The Keyboard hauling (AFK hauling takes 2x longer, at least, plus more susceptible to ganking) and PLEX was just over 1 bil ISK / month.
Red Frog Freight was very newbie friendly. There are internal instructions on how to do insurance, contracts, look for scams, etc. For starting, you'll need two accounts: 1 to be in Red Frog and the 2nd to be an NPC corp hauler. Then, you'll need about 1.2 billion ISK or so. The first billion is to cover contracts collateral (not everyone does 1 bil collateral, but most did, when I was in) and the other 50-200 million is to cover your initial insurance. (There's info on how hauling will cover your insurance for you.)
If you have a freighter that's trained up, I highly recommend trying out Red Frog Freight. Sign up ASAP. When I was in, the wait line was three months! (Although, after I was in, there were times where the wait was only one month.) If the wait line is three months or more, go ahead and sign up, even if your second pilot isn't fully trained; he'll be ready by the time they are. :)
I personally endorse Iron Armada. The level of mentor-ship that comes from it's leadership and members is second to none. Tridgit has created an A class organization here.

Hauling can be profitable, I hauled 16 jumps out and back from Jita, in return the customer bought me a fully equipped Orca, it was a beautiful day for one run.

You've made an amazing video, props for that. The only thing I would recommend is something for your RUclips titles. Instead of just putting "EVE Careers" or "Gallente Ships", I'd recommend making the title something like "EVE Careers - EVE Online". Not only would doing this help your videos pop-up in different search results (thus giving you more exposure), but it will also help be more organized (for playlists and whatnot). Obviously you don't have to do this (it's your channel after all), I just figured I would share my opinion with you in hopes that it will help you grow your channel more seeing as you seem to put a lot of effort into the videos you create.
Neracious it's a good suggestion, but one that is accomplished by all of the SEO optimization efforts I put into my videos. Titles reflect only a tiny portion of the overall algorithm results in search.

Nice video^^ the only thing i dont agree with you on is that you shouldnt plan your career around profit, but rather around having fun. If you think making money is fun do it, if you like to die in a fire for the tenthousands time, then do that. Most newbees i talked too, including some rl friends said that everybody was telling them how to make money, but nobody told them how to have fun. Alot of them stopped playing in the end.
I don't disagree with you. You shouldn't plan your EVE career around money, specifically, but you do need to learn how to be good enough at making in-game money that you can sustain whatever it is that you want to do. That's the focus of this video.
As a player who has been playing on and off since 2010, the recommendation I would give to a newbro is to be aware and research the corporations that might try to recruit you. Definitely avoid any highsec corporation who say they do all sorts of stuff and actively try to recruit you. Almost ALL of highsec corporations are just plain horrible and do not help newbros in the way they need...and if they say they are not, then really run away from them. They are probably worse than the other corporations...
Read a lot of website and watch tons of RUclips videos in order to learn what you want to do.

Well define 'solo'... I have played eve on and off for the last 4 years and only spend a very few weeks in 2 corps when i was new. Ever since i have been living in an npc corp. And whenever i thought about joining a corp i had to think what a corp could offer what i dont have through public fleet options. I know 2 pubfleets for FW, 2 more that offer free 24/7 boost fleets. I know a pubfleet that 'holds' a non-sov null corner, there is bombers bar for well the obvious. There are Eve radio events of all sorts... I heard about somewhat public incursion fleets, and somewhat public WHs... There are pub fleets for almost everything.
I am still thinking about enrolling an alt into a null sov alliance, though... Mark that as 'soonTM'
my plan is to get into exploration and see the sites then eventually go to some pvp or become an industrialist and make ships :)

@@JuriusDoctor In my case, the price is not region based. 20 dollars flat is only broken by Steam's regional pricing, but not much. Back in time i played WoW specifically because it was p2p, hoping a better quality environment and it was good. But eve costs too much. For comparison, in my country, i can buy 1 month of eve on steam for the price of Witcher 3 GOTY, ES Skyrim, Euro Truck Simulator 2 with all map DLC save the last one.
Is it viable to fit a mining frigate with any defensive weapons or do I just go all in with mining lasers.
Well, you already have one of the best defenses: ventures get a +2 warp stabilization by default. The only ship which can stop you with only a single scram is the Maulus Navy (which gets an additional +2 to warp scrambler / disruptor effectiveness).
If someone tries to scram you, just warp off. Most of the time you'll get away - if someone is specifically hunting ventures they will have planned for that, by having a second scram or scram+point.
But each turret you add takes away from mining lasers. Adding a defensive web takes away from tank. Just use combat drones or ECM drones if you're worried about getting away or fighting off rats.
Jurius Doctor Yeah thanks for the tip was worried about fighting off rats ended up having to tank a bit of damage while I mines surprisingly they have terrible aim when I'm orbiting an asteroid with after burners on.

I just started two days ago. Learned the hard way NOT to go afk for too long while mining. Lost my Venture and 700k worth of resources when a AI spawned and killed me. So far, mining is the only quick and easy way for a quick buck early game as far as I can tell. The community is generally nice, I've messaged almost everyone I've met in asteroid belts. Lots of people are loners and would rather play solo. But I'll look into your corporation. I want learn more
Hi Will, sorry for not replying sooner. If you're encountering a lot of 'loner' types in High Sec, that both is & isn't surprising to me. A lot of people who stick solely to high sec are either loners, as you put it, or people who are playing on alt characters while their main character is somewhere else doing something more engaging (or maybe they're just studying/playing other games/watching TV). A lot of people turn to mining as easy, passive income because it's a zen thing you can do without a lot of invested attention.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, the corporations you should look at if that's what you're interested in are Signal Cartel and Red Frog Freight. The first explores as a group, and as individuals, to improve navigation in EVE Online, and the other hauls stuff for money. :)

you don't have to join a corporation -- you started in one upon joining. it's called an NPC corporation.
you can join a player owned corporation. it you don't like one that you joined and quit, you are automatically enrolled in another NPC corporation.
.. CAS (Center for Advanced Studies) -- a Gallente NPC corp -- is one of the few that /or some of whose members/ actually do anything. last I knew they had mining, PvP, incursion, and wormhole groups .. an annual corporation combat tournament with prizes
its 11% tax though...

IronArmadaRecruitment is not recruiting anymore, and does not seem to be as welcoming for any type of player as the video depict. Not that its the fault of the video creator :)
This video was recorded quite a while ago, and all mid-tier corporations go through periods where they either open or close recruitment. While it's rare, even the larger alliances close recruitment sometimes.
As to your comment about not being friendly to newbros, it's quite the opposite. We help everyone who joins us, and I am personally mentoring several pilots who are new to the game and outside of Iron because they're not quite where they need to be in terms of fundamentals, yet.
That said, just because we're good to newbros doesn't mean we won't haze you if you do something fucking stupid - like putting a Rorqual in siege with no scouts out - or boot your ass to the curb if we suspect you're a spy.
This is EVE. HTFU.

H H That's fair, but something I think a lot of players miss in this video is that everything in EVE happens in service to PVP. At the end of the day, this is a PVP game first and foremost. Iron Armada is a mercenary alliance, we get paid to pick (and win) fights.

Your Combat Career section didn't say much of the ISK value of a military career. And the Outlaw Careers were rather vague. The suicide bomber, what stops the victim from recollecting their own stuff? The embezzler, how real life souless do you have to be to do such a thing?
As complex and social as this shit is why are people wasting these skills in a game rather than using them to make money in real life? Many questions.

Yes and no: NPC mining fleets can - and do - mine out entire systems if they're left unchecked, leaving fewer resources for the PCs (Player Characters). However, everything made by players in EVE goes to other players in EVE.

I have hated that piece of lore about middle wage non-capsuleer families since the first time l heard it 6 years ago. Its extremely stupid since it definitely puts the economy of the empiress into serious questioning. In EVE online NPC ships are ubiquitous and interstellar travel is equally. A shuttle can cost as liitle as 50,000 ISK. For 4 people not to be able to afford that in their entire lives would mean that they would need to be making single digit yearly salaries for income. This creates so many questions about the world building that are never answered. Are capsuleer markets separate from regular ones? With their own inflation rates and prices? How many people are in the universe and what id the average cost of living look like? If middle wage is less than 50000 a lifetime what are the other commodity goods like? Food and water cost almost as much as that shuttle. Can people only barely afford food too? I don't understand. Thats so fucking stupid.

I'd say that the Venture, as designed and intended to be fit, is not a combat vessel. If you are mining in a frigate and someone warps in on you with a warship of any description, your ship is specially equipped with a built-in warp core stabilizer and you should run like a greased-up Usain Bolt because otherwise your ship is dead. Now, if you want to take a pointless fight because it makes you feel less weak, that's fine, but don't blame it on pussies, because they can push a kid out and with an attitude like that I'm sure you complain about particularly large shits.
I could certainly see mining of hauling as a nerdy way to chill or even a way to practise the so called "walking meditation" from buddhism, as a fancy sort of mining or hauling meditation. xD
It absolutely is, and it's equally valid and sometimes equivalent to the sometimes painful lengthy zazen.

No, that is called 'Real Money Trading', or RMT, and it'll earn you a permanent ban on all your characters.

To some it will certainly feel that way. It is, at its core, a PVP game. Playing the game is consenting to PVP. EVE is not like World of Warcraft. There are no Arenas. Everywhere is the Arena. That's part of the challenge, it's more like real life than any other game I've played - despite being a Sci-Fi Space Sim.

everyone always says first thing to do "join a corporation right away", yet no one ever explains what a corporation is, what it does, is it a physical thing or just a sign up sheet?, does it have its own window in the game?, are there fees? what are the differences between the types of corporations...no one ever explains. Yet quick to chastise when they find out you havent. Mentors are so not a thing.
