- My first attempt at filming climbing. Despite poor positioning and shaky hands from taking stills with one hand while filming with the other, I still think I ended up with something presentable. Feel free to give me advice, tips.Maybe I should add some music to it....any suggestions?
EDIT(3/21/19):
21,000+ views...holy cow!
Thank you all for visiting and viewing this (insert appropriate adjective) memory.
The last I checked (had to have been a few years ago) it had been seen by mostly friends and family. Yesterday, on a whim, I showed my 14 year old who is starting to take an interest in climbing and needless to say we were shocked and filled with gratitude at the amount of views and positive comments.
Cory, your adventurous spirit and unending enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten.
Nice one, what a shame about the end, after such a great struggle.
He did awesome and it was a shame he couldn't finish it, just on the last move. +10 for the effort
That was freaking awesome!! I was holding my breath several times watching that climb. Huge inhale as he was trying to get the last couple of moves to the chains (assuming that was the goal). So close!! Great climbing!!! Awesome filming too.
R.I.P Thanks for uploading! So impressive to watch! What a climb.
R.I.P. Cory
What happened to Cory ? :( This was a great video.

Fuck what an awesome effort. He climbs so aggressively. Love it.
Please DON'T add music!

I would never have guessed this was your first filming of a climb. I thought it was great, and please do not add any music to your future climbing videos.
Thank you.

Anunnaki - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anunnaki
Overview
The Anunnaki (also transcribed as Anunaki, Anunna, Ananaki, and other variations) are a group of deities that appear in the mythological traditions of the ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, and Babylonians. Descriptions of how many Anunnaki there were and what role they fulfilled are inconsistent and often contradictory. In the earliest Sumerian writings about them, which come from the Post-Akkadian period, the Anunnaki are the most powerful deities in the pantheon, descendants of An, the god of the heavens, and their primary function is to decree the fates of humanity.
I can't understand how he managed to put most of his gear at the opposite site of his free hand. If this attempt was on sight, I think that you are an extremely unlucky person my friend. In the other hand it was a good battle.
It was his on sight attempt. He was so close...
So he is unlucky. I hope he's more lucky at the rest of his life. I'm a trad climber and I know how much power you lose in a hard route when you can't use any particular gear at once. Those two seconds more hanging on one hand every time make the difference. I think that's why he lost it although he was so close. Here in Greece we have another problem. Most of the cracks are limestone so it's even harder to put them right ( nuts fit better in limestone than friends) but you need to much time to choose the right thing and put it as well.
Keep safe guys and have fun.
@@konstantinosv.9858 unfortunately, Corey passed away in South America on a climbing/motorcycle adventure.
justanotherutard. I'm sorry to hear about that. The only thing that faints a little bit the pain of the loss is that he looked like a person that lived a thousand lives. R.I.P
fuck yeah dudeee
Nice try! 💪
What route is this? Also, you said RIP Cory. Is he alive?
The route is located on the Opitimator Wall in Indian Creek, Ut and is named Anunnaki.

what camera have u used? great quility
Thanks, I used a Sony NEX5N with the stock 18mm - 55mm lens.
best climb in the creek, best climb anywhere!
put the rating of the climb in there for us :) plz
11+ maybe a soft 12-
rad
Is the crack completely slippery? No friction? Or overhang?
The windgate sandstone in Indian Creek walks a fine line between slippery and grippy. As it is with most climbing areas, the more a route is climbed the less friction the rock seems to have. This climb, Anunnaki, is an uber classic overhanging hand-to-finger sized overhanging crack. I would say the route overhangs 10-15' (maybe more) in its 50'. You can get a sense of its steepness if you pay attention to his cams hanging off his harness, or look at the angle of the rope at the 6:16 minute mark.
The current consensus for Anunnaki's rating is 5.11+. It feels more like a sport climb than your typical Indian Creek splitter crack.
I hope that answers your questions.
@@justanotherutard Thank you very much for your kind and detailed answer..🙏 I hope you always have a safe and enjoyable climbing❗ 🧗♂️🤟 Thanks a lot‼️
@@user-kp2rj6yv7p You're welcome and I wish for endless safe and memorable adventures climbing for you!
I have been nothing short of surprised, impressed and generally just blown away at the amount of views this video has received.
@@justanotherutard
Good luck to you. Cheer up❗💪
Is somedy knows the level (cotation) ?
I feel (this is just my opinion based on my hand size and experience) it is a 11+/12- to onsight and probably 11c/d to redpoint.
@@justanotherutard Thank you bro !

Beta sprayers…
that beta spray was painful to listen to. let the man climb
I know right?
It was why I debated on adding music.
On a sidenote: The beta-spray was from a guy belaying his (now former) girlfriend on a nearby route.
Who talks this loud and spews beta throughout a tough climb? Totally tone deaf
The guy you can hear talking was adjacent to us, spewing beta at his girlfriend, Abbey, who was trying to climb a .10 on the wall behind me. When I first posted the video I intended to add music to edit out the spew...but after careful deliberation (read as: a couple of beers and reading through the comments) I thought it fitting to leave it there as a reminder to all who do this/have done this of just how annoying spewing beta can be.
[SARCASM ALERT]
Can you believe that "Abbey" dumped him shortly after this trip?
