I have visited very few of these but my favourite one is the Partisan Cemetery in Mostar, BiH. I can't wait to learn the history of them... because I must be honest, I'm a bit clueless. Thanks Ben for educating me.
Great vid man, loving the balkan exploration. btw I noticed you tend to use vi instead of ti when asking questions. Should be 'jel ti zivis ovde' instead of 'jel vi zivis ovde'. Vi when multiple people and ti when talking to one person
Thanks for your comment! My understanding was that “vi” is either plural or formal (like “vous” in French). Someone told me once that when I’m talking to an older person I should address them as “vi” to be polite (e.g. Jel vi živite ovde). Is that true? Maybe it differs by region? Pozdrav
@@BenTheRules Im not too sure honestly, I'm from western bosnia so it could be regional. I've never used 'vi in the formal sense like that but also my serbo-croatian isn't the best lol.
@@BenTheRules "Vi" ("you" in plural) should be always used when addressing the elders, (adult) people you don't know or when you are being formal - but the verb conjugation must be corrected to match plural. So it's not "Jel' vi živiš" but "Jel' vi _živite_" Also note that "Jel'" is a jargon - not exactly the most beautiful linguistic expression. It's short for "Je li" - but it's not correct to use in context. "Je li" is when you rather ask if something is in a particular way. In the case of sentance above, "Da li" should be used. When you ask someone if he lives with "jel " instead of "da li" - it almost sound like you are asking a person if he is alive :D
Yo Ben, why was my previous comment deleted? I didn't say anything but offer a literal translation of the sign from the Nikšić spomenik. Are you censoring people now?
Hey, sorry that happened. sometimes RUclips automatically flags comments for me to review and I have to “OK” them for them to be posted, but I don’t see yours anywhere, so I’m not sure if that’s what happened here. If you wanna comment it again I’ll make sure it gets through. Thanks for the translation and sorry again if it got deleted, Pozdrav!
It’s possible if the comment had something related to fascism, communism, chetniks, or some other keyword from the sign you translated, that RUclips might have censored it, but I’m not sure what happened
yeah, not going too well for Croatia... oh well. I'm rooting for Switzerland though, they had a big win today 🇨🇭 You can check out my friend Sideline Sedo's channel, he's streaming live for some of the games

There are so many, all really unique looking, all with their own stories. I'm glad you enjoyed
That cemetary was sadly destroyed by vandals recently...

Im surprised you read Cyrillic that well. Kudos!
Some of the letters still confuse me a bit (ђћцџ are the usual culprits) but for the most part I can read it haha
