  • I have always been fascinated by Brutalist architecture and 20th Century concrete buildings and other structures which once seemed very futuristic. This short compilation of images shows some of the most striking Spomeniks.

I see them as simulacra of Cern. They reveal truth in some dimension. Thank you for posting this.

Life was easy and fun in the good old Yugoslavia... 1980 to 1992 was the best times of my life.

Thank goodness you appreciate these. I though it was just me and Jonathan Meades. What a club that would be !

I'd actually really like to make a full-blown documentary about them.

@@LegaliseFreedom1 Please do. By the way your recent monologues are particularly valuable right now. I would welcome more of those too, not just on the Corona Takeover. Many thanks for your hard work. MM.

@@modelmeltdown359 Thanks. And yes, sooner rather than later the Corona Takeover must be transcended.

@@LegaliseFreedom1 At the risk of taking up your time and opening up an endless topic I'd just like to say that this is the only time I have commented on a film on RUclips. That is because your channel is the most eloquent and reasoned on the web. Consequently it has become not only a shelter in a storm but a place from which to reflect upon that storm. I feel this is only the beginning of a long haul from which none of the many sides will "win" but total, dare I say transformation, will be the only result.
I am deeply grateful for all your work over the many years. MM.

@@modelmeltdown359 Thank you so much. Reflections like yours are what keep me alive. I loved your tank build by the way! I used to build military models when I was a kid.

Beautiful and eerie sculptures. They look like all that will be left after civilization collapses. Future generations will come across them and wonder “but what do they all mean??”

They represen mostly victims of a genocide. I think that graves of dead people are not a place to experiment with this demented art style!
