  • The cardboard is about 8x10 inches. Poke hole about 2 inches from corner.
Use carded pigeons away from trees & buildings so no trouble retrieving.
First bird was homer in launcher and there is difference in pup's reaction. I like wild pigeons carded because just more temptation. They move just what pup will encounter when hunting. Important to be quiet. The bird is the command. Collar shake to show pup what you want is only correction needed. Simple patience and repetition with birds to have pup be class gundog.

I’m still not sure how the cardboard works , since it’s not a homing pigeon how do you recover the bird that flew away with the cardboard ?

It won't fly far dragging the cardboard thru the air. They land close by. The dog still sees the flush and you can reuse the bird. I just use a long length of cord looped around the birds foot. I does the same thing.

I like your channel and I like this cardboard method. It's more affordable to the DIY trainer than a launcher.

Learned bird dog training from Dave Walker. Try to show any one can train their own bird dog with 3 pigeons. Simple

I will do another video close up to better show how to card the pigeons. Yes most do not have homers. Thanks for watching
