@@vlz.matthew Engine? No. It's the same engine used in the nissan Z. Interior? Yes, because it's their luxury brand. Why would it have the same interior as a sentra? Also fun fact: in japan there is no infiniti brand. This car is just called the nissan skyline there
You might want to edit the description and details as the Transmission is not a Dual Clutch, it's a nearly 10 year old designed 7 speed Automatic. IIRC it's the same one used in the G35-37 series. Love my Red Sport 400 but I WISH they would have put a Dual Clutch in it.
According to Nissan, the 7 speed was modified to be tougher for the current-gen Q50. "All 2016 Q50 powertrains are matched to an advanced seven-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with manual shift mode and available steering column-mounted magnesium paddle shifters on Sport models. The gearbox features improved logic and hardware to handle the power output of the new VR-series engines. Dual transmission coolers are utilized to better diffuse heat." Source: Infiniti News, an official Nissan website.
at a core however, it's still a slow auto by today's standards and it is at a core the same 10yr old design. I love my RS400 but the transmission is it's weak point in terms of enjoyment.
Perhaps, but a large number of dual clutches that are still used today are also 10 years (ish) old. At any rate, since almost all cars are terrible, it doesn't take much to rise to the top, comparatively speaking. Everyone is driving F150s and Chevy Sonics and Toyota Corollas. I'd much rather have the older transmission, honestly, because if it were updated, there is a nearly 100% probability it would be with a CVT, not a dual clutch.
ZF transmissions will continue to replace Dual Clutches. They cheaper to build, fix, maintain, they are just as fast and in some cases faster and more efficient all around.
Drives very nice, wish it had a slot for the key like the Maxima does, and the storage is terrible, no place to put your phone other than the cup holder or on the seat or door handle, don't love the infotainment either but it drives incredible imho, went from 95 max to 2011 to this 3.0 luxe Awd
The way this dude is operating around the mountainside, o'ly smokes. Speak about the danger. Imagine sliding off the road. The wheels on the vehicle are so good because in other vehicles, taking the mountainside turns at 60 or 70 miles an hour will put the vehicle in stress mode.
I wish the transmission was pull to upshift and push to downshift like in motorsports😔 I'm about to turn in my leased 2016 328i M Sport with the JB+ for a 2018 Q50 3.0T Lux with 19in Q60 wheels....no paddles😲 Of course I'm gonna JB1 it immediately and I'm looking forward to the sound of the V6 TT Soundtrack😁 I owned back in the day an SER Altima and a I30 T....so I'm pretty excited😃

Blake Swan Hey Blake! I’ve definitely considered that, and that’s something I will probably do in the future. Right now, I’m focused on making more “Cariosity” videos to do something a little different from what I’ve seen out there. The Ridgeline was my first stab at it, but I have the Accord Sport and Kia Stinger coming up! Hopefully you like those and I can do more review type stuff too. Thanks for keeping me honest 👍
How did you like the steering? I'm between this, b8.5 S4, and a 340i. I love the dynamic steering of the S4, but I love the tuning potential of the turbocharged engines...
I hope I’m not too late but get the 340i. I had a 2016 340 in high school and there is so much tuning potential. Ended up doing almost 400HP and it was a BLAST. I test drove a 2017 Q50 3.0T around a month ago and while it was an awesome car that i will be getting, if you want performance get the 340.
It's called "tech package". I have the 2016 q50 Silver sport tech package and I have the paddle shifters. The only difference between the silver sport and the red sport is only 100hp.
I have a modified RT, thats tuned, 392 intake, K&N air filter, oil catch can, and kooks headers, rwhp375, and TQ 400 , stock hp is 315-320. My friend has one at work, I beat it, but definitely gave me a run for my money... Those are definitely faster than a stock RT because of the weight distribution...RT's are a thousand pounds heavier...
@@TheUncleSpiderX I figured that. That is still pretty good. Some cars are listed slower than what they really are. There are also a lot of cars listed faster than what they are.
mhtl48 yea but 6 seconds? For a v6 with a twin turbo? My 3.7 one goes 0-60 in low 5s, 5.1 .. this 6 seconds has to be due to elevation or something because any car with a twin turbo should be in the mid 5s or low 5s especially if it isn’t an SUV
Don’t understand how much I appreciate the “No Talking” aspect
0-60 is 4.9 seconds I tested already
i think with the 2019 and 2020 its less than that it seems way less
Took those turns very smoothly. Impressive, nice driving.
Thanks!
0-60 is like 5.0-seconds, but it depends on the climate and weather.
Update on my last comment. This video secured the deal I got one the next day. 3 days in this car is amazing!!!
rented one of these in dallas....would have never considered a nissan product but it really opened my eyes. fantastic car!
infiniti's dont use cvt's. so not really a "nissan" product

0-60 time is not accurate. Its low 5 seconds.
It's more like 5 seconds to 60.

Infiniti 🖤
I was really hoping Infiniti got rid of the vertical vents.
Some models have horizontal vents but its rare to see them. I think their SUVs have them.

Not to any noticeable degree

Not really 😢

JWiLLfoReaL yes, definitely. It’s a pretty large trunk.
