      +Cameron Greathouse I thinks he needs a fortified shield while using the core, otherwise he's just a dummy when pilots attack him from behind during the core.

      Exactly my problem. I usually just end up dying whenever I pop the flight core because every Tone on the map just lights me up.

    1) Cooldown starts resetting once wall ends, not when it begins, just as you said
    2) 40mm bullets explode (read: vanish) mid-air after a certain range, that way you are required to be within "mid" range to shoot otherwise you won't hit at all. Simply adding damage drop-off wouldn't be enough because you could shoot for the missile lock-on at longer ranges and still do plenty of damage with those. Ronin and Scorch already face similar limitations, Ronin's spread is too high to be of any use starting from mid ranges, and Scorch's projectile delay & drop-off makes it inconsistent for longer ranges so you are always tempted (a nice way of saying "forced") to get in closer.
    3) Increase lock-on "ticks" to 4 instead of 3, there are already perks to help with that anyway.
    I think that would balance Tone

      Why not give hard counters to some of the other titans? Such as north star's rail gun being able to bypass partical wall with a reduced damage, and give Legion a heavier hitting gattling gun or a special "Shield beaker missile", maybe give ronen a ECM pod ability (Lengthening the number of hits it takes to get a lock-on and messes with the sonar) , give ion chaff and flairs...all sorts of ways to mostly just make TONE not so much less OP but bring her opponents up to par.

      Warren Straley Simple increase the effectiveness of the vortex shield and for it to last longer "Hay ya know that salvo core you just launched? Yha return to sender" or hell any of tone's weapons being sent back into it's face. Or hell even something as simple as making TONE's lock-ons function like an actual jet's does, as in you have to keep hitting the enemy and keep them in your sights until full lock is achieved, if not it resets to zero (thus forcing TONE players to stay in the fray longer to get max damage done)

      Warren Straley Actually I'm not a player of titan fall at all (mostly due to lack of funds for a decent set up of which I'm saving for) I'm looking at this from an outsiders perspective. It's my experience that you don't make a team better (or in this case the rest of the roster more playable) by hitting the best with a heavy dose of the nerf bat, instead give the other titans on the roster viable offensive or defensive counters to tone. If what I have provided so far is not sufficient then I would like to hear some of your ideas, I don't mean to come across as condescending I'm genuinely trying to help. For the record though I prefer the idea of Northstar's combat style.

    Don't stumble onto this video and make a silly comment telling me or anyone to "get good". If you really need validation I have a whole TF2 playlist featuring me shredding Tone players to pieces with other Titans. That does not change what I talked about here in this video. Not too mention so many people posting comments who have clearly not watched the video. Don't bumble about simply responding to headlines.
    When there are 3-4 Tones on average in a match, something needs to change. Titan stacking like that is not fun for anyone and provides no challenge or competitive play value for those involved.

      Tone got a nerf bat recently. But no change list was shown. We are supposed to decide if we feel good with it or not.

      That was over 1 week ago at this point. All anyone has been able to dig up was that the salvo core was modified.

    I would say rather than nerf Tone. Buff another titan to counter her more efficiently. For instance the titan with a railgun. Maybe have that rail gun be able to punch right through her particle shield.

    Here's an idea. Her gun fires explosives, right? Weapons that fire explosives in real life use a timed charge activation. 40mm grenades are a perfect example of this. If you shoot someone point blank with a 40mm, it'll kill them but it won't explode. So, have her 40mm rounds only explode at mid to long ranges. Up close, they are direct impact only. Now, for range, I don't know if Titanfall 2 models velocity. But they could have the 40mm slow down dramatically at longer ranges, or if the model is simpler than that, just have a damage drop off to represent that. OR, have her rounds explode at a certain distance. This is representative of real world high caliber guns, like the P39N's 37mm. Its rounds exploded at a certain distance. Have that happen, and it will force her to use her missiles as a long range weapon, or force her to get up close.

      DavidMN I like this idea I think it would also help if the locks degraded over time so you need to keep pressure to get the rockets. I also think that a slower rate of fire for the 40m would be an efficient Nerf as It would slow lock on, and add more emphasis to crits.

      DavidMN respawn does model velocity and this is relevant to not only the shotguns but the smg's and assualt rifles aswell as the grenadier weapons

    I love how they rate tone as a 3 star for difficulty, like seriously who were the playtesters that thought Ion was easier to use than Tone? Seriously though, I completely agree, something needs to be done. My suggestion would probably be an overall reduction to her damage/making it harder to get locks. Also they definitely need to just reduce the damage of Salvo core, that shit is waaaaaay too stupid right now.

      hazeddon I can only guess it means difficulty to DEAL with as opposed to difficulty to use. Then Tone/Legion are hardest, Scorch/Ronin are medium, and Ion/Northstar are easy. only two Id flip are Ion and Ronin.

      But in destiny thats how they got that horrible thorn and last word meta. Basically buff to an extent but then if you feel as though the games titans die to fast do some nerfing to OP titans.

      Caleb Hayes Yeah, but if you look at the meta now, after nerfing almost everything to the ground, you are forced upon a few select weapons. I dont want Titanfall to be like that, it is almost perfectly balanced.

      I've been trying to get every titan to gen 2, finished northstar currently on ronin. I must say actually flight core is great against tone, you can get right over the particle wall and fire directly downward on them, most of the time they don't even look up to fire back.

    Even as a Tone user i would like to see her rebalance a bit, i like the idea of the wall not cool down while the wall is active. I think maybe a damage distance drop off would help too. Lastly i think something you didn't mention is maybe a cool down increase to use her rockets cause basically as long as you have a lock on you can fire the very powerful rockets.

    Tone's Missiles needs a damn cooldown. I mean. Its cool they added the "Shot to add lock", but fuck. The 40mm can shoot so fast that it really doesnt matter. Give it a cooldown like everything else.

    Just a FYI for you Northstar players; shoot that shield with the cluster missile. It keeps tones from hugging the shield so you can hover and pop a shot. Nice vid Tony Mo! Keep 'em coming.

      Byte Knight another fun fact, 2 fully charged shots break the shield. the second shot will both break and penetrate the shield, dealing full damage to any titan you fired at. Piercing shot is not required for this too.

      As a northstar main and my cousin as a tone main we do 1v1 s sometimes so this helped me alot

    The rocket salvo should definitely be limited to two with cool downs on each, and enemy Titans should be notified when they are completely locked on by a tone.

    I feel like the projectile size of the 40mm should be reduced. Keep it precise, but shoot a shell instead of a whale.

    This is gonna be long so I'll start with a TL;DR: Tone only needs slightly less accurate weapons and losing the pulses lock to be back in line with the other titans.
    Also there are counters to Tone, use them.
    Tone isn't as strong as people think, she's just really easy to get right, the learning curve is way flatter than other titans. To not nerf her into oblivion I wouldn't make radical changes but rather tweak the mechanics a bit.
    1) The particle wall cooldown needs to start when the wall disintegrates, maybe even throw in a few seconds of cooldown and/or make the wall last a shorter time. If a player uses the wall that takes more damage this should be reflected in longer cooldown.
    2) the tracking rockets should have a wider turning arc so it's a bit easier to dodge them. This or they should require a LOS to the locked target to launch.
    3) the 40mm tracking cannons cone of fire should be increased so the long range sniping is a tad bit more difficult, but I would never take away splash damage. This game needs a titan that pilots fear, and Tone is the only one that does that consistently.
    I would however remove the Enhanced Tracker Rounds and replace them with a round that has zero splash but deals increased damage to titans, couple this with a slight damage reduction to regular rounds versus titans and you have to choose who to be effective against.
    4) the pulse blade/flare/thingy is stupidly powerful, showing the entire team where the enemy is AND giving Tone free lock ons is OP, that I can agree on, IMO it should only do one of those things and I would prefer it to be the wallhack. Seeing people through walls is powerful as it is and this would also require Tone to actually show herself to be able to attack. This would also reduce what I think is peoples biggest gripe, Tone feels a bit like a cheat. She can launch the pulse, step out briefly to get the final lock, step back to safety and STILL hit you with her strongest attack.
    We have to remember that there are counters to Tone and if people use them they can be devastating. Tones weakness is close quarters and not having her wall to hide behind. Ion and Scorch can use their shield and simply march her down.
    Ronin can phasedash into meleerange.
    Legion can deny lockons with gunshield while outdamaging Tone, just make sure to not be an idiot with timing of the abilities.
    Northstar can actually bypass the wall by shooting OVER it, the cluster rocker is good for herding Tone, just shoot it on the side of the wall where you don't want Tone to be. I shouldn't have to tell anyone that you can't stand and trade damage with Northstar, she's too squishy. Charge your gun in cover, dash back into cover after firing, rinse and repeat.

    I'm not really an FPS player, but this game looks really fun. Do you feel the developers of Titanfall 2 are good at listening to their particular community, so they can make necessary changes?

      +Leystrider they've been a great developer in the past, even as TF1's player numbers dwindled they stayed true and supported the game with updates, changes, and patches. I don't think they'll be leaving this game behind anytime soon.

      Tony Mo I told people tone would be over powered far before launch. No one believed me... well damn I was right. You know how the mag launcher rounds explode at a certain range? If the 40mm rounds did that and the tracking rockets required 4 locks instead of 3 I think she would be balanced then or close to it.

      They're very good with Titanfall 2. About a week after launch, they released a balance patch addressing a lot of what kept popping up on Reddit. Yesterday, they announced DLC #1, which comes out November 30. Everything is free except for the cosmetic stuff.
      - New Map (Angel City)
      - A pilot stats menu: people have been asking for this hardcore since launch, so it's good to see it added
      - New Titan Kits: Every titan gets one new perk they can choose. Scorch's new one, for example, lets his fire wave ultimate leave thermite on the ground after it's done. I think this means it will just kill all titans who can't get out of the way fast enough. Tone's lets her hold a button to put 3 40mm rounds in her chamber, which she can then fire all at once. Yeah, it makes her even more OP than she is now.
      - "Prime Titans:" 2 are coming. They are existing titans with new chassis and new executions. They cost money, but they're purely cosmetic.
      - A bunch of other stuff. Check out "titanfall" subreddit for a post that explains it.

    Yeah Tone's way OP. Gamertron is absolutely stupid saying the game is balanced, not just regarding Titans.
    The sonar should be a Northstar ability. That ability just suits Northstar, she needs to know where targets are and what they'll do. Tone doesn't need that shit with her other abilities that are absurdly strong. I find the slow trap ineffective a lot of the time. Tone should have the slow trap or something else entirely cause it's not that great honestly.
    Btw, love the Heero/Wing Zero reference. Point given for my nostalgie for Gundam Wing :).

      bro i said something similar like why in the hell does northstar have rockets in the first place ? hey lets give a sniper titan a core that makes her vulnerable also lets make it so it doesn't do much damage with very little accuracy too -Respawn , sonar or smart core would be great for northstar ,

      Saltykev go might be a good idea. I honestly don't mind Northstar's core though. Wish it did closer to Salvo core damage or the missiles travelled faster so damage was more readily dealt with a shorter in air time perhaps. Or they keep everything the same but give a decent armor buff to the Northstar itself while cored so damage isn't so crazily done against it.

    What I find works is using Ronan's dash to an advantage. Dump 4 shots, dodge to the side while reloading, rinse and repeat. Salvo core? Phase dash out of it. Execute when they get doomed. Only titan I'm running from now on.

      xBeySick I used to run Ronin the same way, then I started using Tone and I love it so much. In my opinion, tone is #1 and Ronin is a very close second.

      xBeySick not only that his arc wave one shots tone's wall. Just rips right through and stuns her. I suggest using temporal anomaly and counter ready. You can trap her near a wall after destroying her wall and deploy the smoke while slapping her with your sword so she gets knocked back into the smoke. If she gets 3 locks just phase dash, it removes all the locks. If you don't have phase dash ready just block the 40mm shots and her rockets with the sword block. Works real nice on almost every Titan.

    I don't find tone unstoppable. Salvo core won't do anything if a target goes behind cover (yes, titans can use cover, too), and particle wall won't keep you from getting flanked. Her cannon is powerful, but if you miss that first one shot kill on a pilot, their maneuverability can get them out of trouble, unlike ion, who can trail them with a splitter spray and likely kill them. Just my thoughts.

      shreder75 yes tone isn't unstoppable but all the things you just said rely on out playing your opponent because another titan is better in a certain situation. The problem with that reasoning is if your playing against someone equally skilled or better that has tone and your in another titan 9/10 times your going to lose and the other time you've taken so much damage that the most you can hope for is do some damage to the next titan before yours is destroyed.

      shreder75 tone loses lock ones when ronin phase shifts and the made other small nerfs but they didn't go into detail on what they did exactly.

      They did. If you check the main menu it has a list of all patches. I'm sure even as a pilot when you go stealth mode turns off once you fire a shot. They've changed a bit. Tone now has a triple burst mode if you hold LT/L2.

    Tracking rockets out of range. Patch 1. 40mm three shots at long range, and two shots at anywhere else, no one shot precision kills. Tone has been fixed. In my mind.

    When the nerf comes, it's important that tone keep the * *volume* * of rockets and the ridiculous salvo core, its such a mecha staple.

      That's not how competitive games or multiplayer games in general work. it will always be so much more than that. Tone is limited to 2 per team in the very first TF2 tourney for good reason.

    Eh, particle wall really isn't that great tbh
    it's easily destroyed by legion's weapon and it's outright annihilated by northstar's cluster missiles, just fire one of those bad boys and it's going to be down in a matter of seconds.
    I do still like tone and recognize that she's pretty powerful, but I don't think particle wall is a reason why she is since there are TWO counters to it, I've had legions with gunshields just push my particle wall, spraying it down endlessly until it disappears and they're right in my face, forcing me to dash away.
    When a northstar fires a cluster at my shield, I have nothing to prevent or circumvent it, it just sits there blocking my vision and just eating my particle wall.
    I'm not denying the particle wall's effectiveness, I've completely screwed other titans like scorch over with it simply because his attacks did jack against my wall and firewall doesn't go through it either.
    I wouldn't mind some debuffs to tone, I should stress that.

      Kozak170 Enhanced ammo capacity + close-range mode and you have more than enough to break through _and_ do damage. Long range mode, if you didn't know, consumes two bullets per shot.
      Not to mention the railgun shot that he has which only takes one bullet no matter what mode you're in, and it does a bunch of damage all at once.

      The problem with using a core ability to kill that shield (which works well, btw) is that you are burning a special attack that takes a while to build on something that is just going to pop up again in less than 10 seconds. Kind of a shitty trade.
      However, you are right when you say that they are many counters to the shield. It is not hard to force a Tone out from behind it's shield with a Scorch. Just set the ground on fire, flamewall goes right through it. They will move or they will die. They are also easy to flank, because they are typically busy throwing missile locks through their particle wall and not watching their 6. Plus, you can walk right through the damned things, so rushing with a Ronin is an option.
      I feel like Tone is good (maybe the best for all-around play), and possibly on the edge of OP, but it doesn't need a nerf. I think Tone is just the counter to this guys play style, and most other people's for that matter, and they don't want to step outside their comfort zone to take them out, so they just complain about it.
      Such is life in a multiplayer FPS.

      A little bit of an update:
      yeah Ronin's arc wave demolishes the shield in one go, and I was completely wrong about the cluster missiles, turns out they do absolutely nothing to the shield, which seems incredibly odd to me because I swear they worked before but I tried them out again recently and they don't do anything :/

    I would like tone's lock to only happen when you hit a crit on titans, besides just a body shot, and you can't get a lock from a distance; and for salvo core, you will need a full lock to fire it

    All I'm really hearing is complaining mostly. Splash damage is normal for an explosive. Its also smaller and less damaging splash compared to a Tick Mine. For those mentioning its a grenade and should have a time effect. When a grenade is being shot out with a great amount of force and makes contact with a form of resistance. The explosives within will be compressed and forcibly activated, ignoring its timer which if you guys don't notice it does have.

      Gnartic Warfare I'll definitely agree with the splash damage. I play a lot of Tone, and I've had to shoot the ground next to a pilot upwards of 4 times in order to kill them with the tiny blast radius. At the moment where he's complaining about the splash damage, his example is a clip where he nails a pilot with a direct hit.

      it does have a drop off but only starts dropping at long range. They need to make the drop start at medium range. And they have to delay the cool down of the shield after it depletes.

    Some nerf suggestions to throw out there:
    [no more than a couple should be implemented at the same time or it'd be too much of a nerf]
    -make lock-on shots require 4 ticks
    -no lock-on ticks past a certain range
    -reduce gun ammo to 9
    -increase reload time
    -decrease canon fire rate
    -increase canon shot gravity drop past certain distance
    -decrease gun accuracy (both zoom and unzoomed)

    30 second cooldown for partical wall, 40mm detonates at mid range regardless of hitting a target or not and make Legion and and north star's main weapons hard counters to partical wall by making the Legion's gun heavier hitting and make northstar's rail-gun shots fly right through the partical wall (with a 25%damage reduction penalty of course) hitting TONE with a big nerf-bat is not the answer, a mild nerf with giving opponents a hard counter is.

    I think that tone's main problem now is her core. Unlike other titans, she can use her core while staying behind her shield. It is also the ONLY core that does not require direct LOS.

    Nerf the Tone's special ability to make the damage output more in line with other titans or at least make it escapable for fuck's sake. Increase cool down on the particle wall and return the 40mm cannon rate of fire to Titanfall 1 levels. Also, reduce the tracking of the tracking missiles so they can at least be dodged. You can implement every one of these nerfs and still have a powerful balance titan. Tone is that OP.

    I say keep Tone the way she is and buff up Legion. im not sure if tone is supposed to be greater than him but that gatling gun should have the ability to destroy that shield with one belt of ammo or a near full belt with a charged shot. it honestly sucks when you see several titans with a legion hit that shield and it holds the way it does I love Tone, the only way she can be perfect for me is if she rocked the XO-16 chaingun. R.I.P. XO-16 chaingun. would love Ion if he had it

    1. cooldown on the shoulder missiles
    2. damage dropoff or a mid air explosion on the 40mm like the mgl has
    3. particle wall cooldown starts when the wall is destroyed
    4. decrease height of particle wall

    Sabot tracker rounds. Under a certain distance, it doesn't apply charges because the casing hasn't split in flight yet. Damage stays the same, and this makes sonar pulse actually have a more specialized utility for close range defense.

    Another nerf might be to make it for five shots to lock on the missles instead of the three shots it is now, that could make that one ability where critical hits count as two seem more usefull.

    Random Idea.
    1) Particle wall acts more like Amp wall from the pilot set: Larger cool down (can't Chain them) but increases damage when fired through the wall.
    2) Replace 40mm with the brutes quad rockets. Lower damage and only allow "pings" from single rockets while ADS. This slows the lock on's, reduces the "sniping" ability but increases the splash damage.
    3) Switch core ability with Northstar (this allows Northstar to rocket snipe across the map (her roll) and then have Tone as a barrage master (her new roll) The flight part will still stay with Northstar)
    This should create a more of a combo type where the shield, aimed rockets and tactical ability must be used for greatest effect but at a reduced duration, while turning the Tone in to a barrage specialist and not a mix sniper/tank/indirect titan

    For me as a Tone Main, I have to say, yes, I see your points, but despite me performing well above avarage inside or outside a Titan in this Game, I do get killed in my Tone easily, if I'm outplayed, or get charged in Numbers. Also, anti-titan weapons like the MGL are Tone's worst nightmare, if it's someone using cover right and flanking you while you are engaged or he blinds you with an Arc Nade.
    The worst for Tone in my opinion is Ronin. He just blocks whole Salvo Rockets and even Core Rockets with his sword with only a percentage going through and actually doing damage. Also, he can easily dash through the particle wall and start shooting with the shotgun and hack away at you, use Phase Shift at your Core-Ult, etc. and can use that electric Wave, disorienting and damaging you, forcing you to move, and maybe cornering you.
    As to how Tone could be more evened out with the other Titans, I'd say buff most other Titans, as I find Ion's Maingun damage pathetic, and make Tone's 40mil explode after so and so many meters. but Thats about it IMO.
    You can always nerf something again later on if it's still too powerful, but all of you really do look like whiners, when you list 3-5 things you want nerfed about Tone.. and if they would nerf it that much and it becomes utter crap, you'd all be like "Well deserved for those Tone Mains" or "Well I don't play Tone, so.. too Bad, sucks for you for playing Tone now".
    Buff other Titans, nerf/tweek/add only little of the existing things

    It's no secret that tone is a powerhouse, absolutely. When I first started playing the game it was my go-to titan just because of the versatility. Now every titan does have a counter that, if used well enough, can take down the other. A great example would be an Ion/Legion combo. Who's going to win if both pilots are equal in skill? The Ion, due to the shield. You've just got to find things that work well for you that you can play into your strategy. Personally I like using scorch for tones, or even ion. Once a pilot pops the shield just walk through it... Tones only have one dash. From there it's cake, especially with the close range capabilities that scorch has and the reflective power that gives ion its super strength. But yeah, tone is still pretty high up there, especially when I'm playing competitively. I kind of feel like the strengths are built in and permanent due to the lack of customization in the chassis and such.

    I can definitely get behind the shield wall change, but I'm not sure about how much you'd be able to change the splash damage of the 40mm Cannon. Another thing to take note of with Tone's weapon is the fact that it is a physical shot that arcs over distance, meaning you have to be extremely skilled to get beyond mid-range combat when arcing is involved.
    One overall change I think that needs to be made is that "Doomstate" should actually have health fall away to zero and death like in TF1 did before, not just allow perpetual fighting. That right there is part of the problem when fighting against Titans like Tone or Legion, where you can put them down but they keep going because the health doesn't just constantly drop.

    The problem is definitely how the 40mm can be used at all ranges. If it either arced or dropped off at long ranges, I feel like most of her kit would still be viable at a medium to close range, but giving Titans like Northstar a place to counter Tone.
    This, or adjusting rocket salvo tracking and speed maybe?

      The 40mm Cannon shots actually DO arc, they're not a laser-like shot as you'd see with the R-201 or other such pilot weapons. At longer ranges you need to compensate for the arcing, and only the most skilled Pilots can hope to do any damage outside of Mid-range.

    A lot of Tone's power comes from guided missiles, either from the Q or Core.
    There should be some ECM titan ability that will disrupt this guidance in a large area, possibly also providing some other benefit like scrambling the enemy radar.
    Currently you can safely launch missiles from behind cover AND have them autotrack, which is kinda ridiculous when compared to something like Ion's laser.

    I'm going to apologize for the textwall ahead of time and please don't bash me for anything I'm about to say. I'll agree on pretty much all of what was said in the video. BUT. I also did play Titanfall one on the xbox 360 and X1 with a total of 37 days of in game play time with extensive use of the 40MM Cannon up to Diamond 5 in ranked in the Capture the flag and played in competitive tournaments for prizes as well, which is the sole reason why I use Tone because I am used to the 40MM.
    The 40MM is about the same as it used to be. The only major difference is that the shells fired have volume/mass this time around making it easier to hit pilots at range, and it actually deals less splash damage then it used to as well. you used to have a guarenteed kill on a pilot in 2 splashes where as in the second one i have splashed the same pilot 4 times with them surviving. so in that aspect are you meaning reducing the splash radius or the damage?
    Yes, the partical wall does need something done to it, no one can deny that. My tone is at gen 9.17 right now and I have major issues with Legions and Ronins. they can pretty well counter Tone if they are smart about their positioning.
    I almost think they need to add another lock on for the Tracking rockets so you require 4 lock ons before launching the rockets. Would seem to be a decent fix for the combo? that would require 4 hits or 2 criticals with the enhanced tracker rounds kit to keep the same damage output via tracking rockets which would mean if they can not continuously land critical hits, they can lose up to 1/4th of their damage output atleast because they could lose out on atleast 3 uses of tracking rockets per magazine. That should tone down Tones effectiveness untill they get very good with the 40MM cannon.

    Great video again, I'm really loving the quality you put into these and the subjects you go into. I believe Tone needs a bit of conditions to her abilities.
    1. Lock-on should have to stay in her field of view, if a target manages to escape Tone's view, it should reset.
    2. The Particle Shield should have a longer cool-down, even if just a few seconds longer, and the cool-down should only begin when the shield goes out.
    3. Her explosive rounds should explode after a certain distance, forcing her into mid-range. Ronin already has this limit where his pellets quickly spread wide and then burn out after a certain distance.
    I believe these few tweaks would greatly re-balance Tone, while keeping true to her concept.

      GavynNuva having the lock reset as soon as they're not in los is a bit too much of a nerf, considering being able to hit people around corners is kinds the point of the ability. I do think that the locks should degrade sooner, however. I can use the double pulse kit on Tone, then shoot two sonar pulses out and get full locks before the first ones wear off. That's a bit ridiculous.

      I'm suggesting this nerf because with even one tracker, you can track Ronin's movements while in the Phase World. That is extremely broken and over-powered. Phase Dash should reset all tracker marks. I do see your point though in the other cases. They should a degrade time and it degrades a little more quickly if out of Tone's vision.

    How about making her rockets have more of a cooldown? It feels less like an ability and more like a more powerful main attack. Its just 1..2..3..Rockets..1..2..3..Rockets..1..2..3..Rockets and so on. And you brought up a good point with the particle height. I play northstar all the time and its so frustrating that my hover doesnt allow me to shoot over the particle wall.

    You could have the 40mm explode at a certain range to prevent really long shots. This also means you can plan air Burst And you could have them only becoming volatile at a certain range. Like grenade launchers on call of duty, so that if she is too close they don't do the explosive damage just the projectile damage and won't have any splash. Meaning it's less effective at really short ranges against pilots and ai and she can't just pick people off from across the map...

    If the Tone's lock on were to be nerfed, I think the best way to do it would be to just give it the slaved warheads from Titanfall 1. They have a cooldown, only lock on while you have a clear line of sight, and don't all fire at once like the tracking rockets. Plus, it'd fit Tone's Titanfall 1 motif perfectly.

    I think the biggest strength that waits within Tone are its tracker rockets. The 3 shot lockon is easily achieved, especially when combined with its Sonar Lock and Particle Wall to minimize its recieved damage, which means the rockets are going to be using their frequent flyer miles to upgrade to the Salvo Core.     For the range they should just make it less accured. Like that the projectile wouldn't go straight forward but after traveling certain distance they would kinda change direction

    Implement a 40mm splash and lock sweet spot, e.g. If enemy is close, the shells/rockets wouldn't be able to arm yet, so you would have to get farther away

    Maybe they could balance tone by having a sweet spot on the tracking ring, so at long distance you don't get as much tracking as short or medium, so you would have to shoot 5 shots to get the lock instead of 3....

    I feel there's a small error. Northstar DOES have some small splash damage (or a large projectile size). Either way, I was once killed by Northstar while she didn't have LOS on me (or at least, I couldn't see myself in the kill-cam).
    With that said, I think removing the splash on the 40mm wouldn't just... feel... right... On the other hand, the shield and sonar are both insanely good.The shield for obvious reasons (can be used often, can be used by friendly titans), while the sonar is often overlooked - it provides info about titans / players in the area to the entire team. It's like pulse blade on a super-short cooldown (possibly shorter range?).
    Perhaps limiting the sonar to only give "locks" for enemy titans (and "lockable" NPCs), and only to the Tone firing the sonar, rather than the whole team would be a start?

    i think we should make the other titans more powerful so that pilots actually have to think about coming up to other titans -- like when they do with the tone.
    scorch - reloads main gun faster
    ronin - sword core charges a little faster
    northstar - at close range railgun does splash damage to deal with pilots
    legion - more ammo, faster move speed while gun is rotating
    ion - more energy
    i don't know maybe this would cause power creep - but i think it would help also
    tone - damage fall of at long range, that's northstars job

    they need to add a range to her lock on. like after a certain distance the number needed to lock on increases. so tone can be more of a mid range support titan rather than a long range artillery. 3 for close range but 4 at 40 ft max range is five. the final range five isnt to allow long range attacks but more to track farther targets. if tone hits you five times over a long distance then you definitly need to be shot down. electric smoke also should be able to slowly decrease targeting, if a team mate uses his smoke you can use it to help but it should take a time to completly wipe it.

    you forgot that when tone fires the missiles there is no cool down on it so every one goes ham with the missiles and its super easy to get the lock down on an enemy titan

    i feel like a huge change that would balance tone would be to make the lock on require 4 locks instead of 3. this way tone players would need to be a little more skillful, as they would have to have 4 lock ons. this would also make the lock on rockets less annoying because they wouldn't be spammed as much, especially to ronin and northstar players, who have less health.
    adding splash damage to northstar's railgun would be a very balanced change as well.
    maybe buff ronin in some way too

    I say make the tracking rockets auto detonate after so much distance, to prevent rocket sniping, and make the spread of the 40mm larger so that's it accurate at mid range yet more disadvantageous at longer ranges

    hey good video! on top of making the particle wall regen slower i think they should also add more spread to the 40mm making it less accurate over range therefore forcing you to close the distance in order to accurately land shots. also nerfing the health on the particle wall would help the pacing of the game in general since those things really disrupt gameplay and make it a little too slow sometimes.

    My opinion for Tone rebalancing was just lower the projectile speed of her 40mm and Tracking Missles. That way if you're at a longer range, you have more of a chance to dodge her OPness but up close she's still a formidable threat.

    an idea I had was having her salvo core shoot straight up, not forward. that way the player has to think about how to use it, and with that she would have have to stay out in the open field. I love tone but I feel the core ability is way to powerful. with over core you can basically spam salvos all day. add the damage drop off and make salvo core shoot straight up. I think would be the best thing to do.

    This might be overkill, but I think rockets are able to fire with 4 shots instead of 3, rockets have a certain distance they can be fired in, (no more sniping with rockets) 40mm cannon has damage fall-off, and particle wall charges after it has been depleted/destroyed. Those are my thoughts

    personally Tone is for new players. its cannon and abilities are simple to use. so I would probably balance this by making Tones rockets short ranged and have a 10 second cooldown after 1 use. The cannon takes 4 shots to lock on instead of 3. And particle wall have 40 second cooldown

    Thank you tony, have been saying this heaps. The imbalance of power between Tone and the rest of the titans is massive. Tone needs to remain a damage dealer but mobility and the particle wall needs to be a re-thought or re-designed. If you made particle wall accelerate her projectiles but block no damage, nerf her 40mm to do less damage without the shield up to rely on the mechanic, only 1 dash but if you dash you lose lock on charges. Make her mechanics more difficult will remove the overall abuse.

    Tone is in fact OP. Its all I see in attrition now. They just stick to groups of two. And keep spamming partical wall making it so they can keep hammering your titan while you cant fight back.The many times ive been gang banged by tones I call my titan in.Take control and turn a corner to see two of them behind one wall. They hammer the living shit outta me and before I can even turn and run or fire back im doomed. Then when the shield drops the other tone will throw up theirs.Shes broken mate.

    RoF of the 40mm with its clip size just makes it super spammy. Add that she gets Titan lock from splash damage... yes, doesn't even have to hit to gain lock.
    A reduced rate of fire would ease those and make the tracker rockets (that do pretty solid damage with minimal effort) not show up so often.
    I also find Salvo Core seems a fair bit more powerful than other Cores.

    well, the only real nerf i'd put on tone is either to nerf the shield's hp, make the 40mm apsr(sabot) instead of aphe(explosive) or make the sonar giving no lock on. otherwise I'd rather buff the other titan like giving northstar either a charging speed boost or straight up more damage, more projectile speed on scorch's termite cannon with faster reload speed, allowing you to move while swinging with sword core instead of having your feet stuck in the concrete. ion and legion are pretty fine as they are.

    Honestly, the answers are simple.
    If the Salvo is to stay guided the way it is now, (totally broken that you can send it over obstacles and around corners) then drastically cut it's damage. The fact that it can kill a titan from four armor bars is insane.
    Either reduce the splash damage from the 40mm, reduce it's splash radius, or get rid of the splash completely. It's bad enough that rockets and salvo can go around corners, it doesn't need a primary weapon that can kill pilots it can't see.
    Cut the range on the 40mm and Rockets. Ronin's shotgun has a clear range limit, as does Ion's splitter rifle. I've had situations trying to disengage from a Tone where I'm thinking, "I'm literally half a map away you're still hitting me? HOW?"
    And yes, the cooldown on the wall needs to start when the wall vanishes, not when it's deployed, and it needs to be longer. It's extremely cheap that they did that. No other titan has an ability that starts cooldown before the ability is finished.

    I play as tone and ion is a huge weakness because your most effective ability is tracking rockets and ion can counter them.

    You can tell which commenters are Tone mains...
    I don't even play Last Titan Standing anymore because it's almost always at least 3 Tones per team. Nobody ever uses Scorch or Northstar because against a stack of Tones why would you? (Not to mention Ronin is fucking useless on half of the maps in LTS) The only counters are to either stack your own Tone or stack all Legions, rendering every other Titan at an automatic disadvantage

      NEXUS X I think Tone needs a nerf to her Core, because every Titan needs a bit of skill with their cores, Ion becomes slow once he activates the laser, Northstar becomes vulnerable while flying, Ronin Core is usually activated When you are doomed or with little health because running into someone with her sword might end up in you losing almost all your health, Scorch usually should use his Core against the highest amounts of enemies possible, Legion...well...You Just shoot... And with Tone you just need to Mark someone And shoot Your missiles into the sky in case you are not close enough, they are dead

      Limon locking on will not make your Salvo core follow them. it follows your cross hairs so, you have to get it around shields because losing half your Salvo reduces damage dramatically. the game is pretty balanced. every Titan has a counter.

    I think:
    1) Her shields cool down should begin when the shield is gone
    2) 40mm rounds should have a extreme bullet drop and damage reduction at range so it is more diffcult to out snipe the northstars out there.
    3) 40mm shots should only be half a tick at long range to discourage that distance play and encourage tone players to stay in a sweet spot

    Nowhere near the most powerful.
    Can't use ordinance without 3 confirmed hits with primary, lock on pings eventually run out. Ronins phase deactivates all lock on pings. Tracking rockets can be dodged with a simple dash. Particle wall barely lasts long enough to reload and doesn't stop your enemy from simply walking through it. Once that wall is down tones chassis is quickly torn in half by virtually every other titan. Legion's minigun tears through the wall fairly quickly, Ronin can wipe out that wall in one with the arc continuing to travel and doing severe damage to her shield if she has one.
    Literally just rush her and push and maintain pressure. At close range she's easily the weakest. Everything but her 40mm is easily dodge able. She is strong. But she is nothing close to op.
    Just push her, rush through her Shield and apply pressure.

    I completely overlooked Tone. Her low health and the requirement to get thee hits with the rifle for rockets put me off, however, I may have to give her a whirl now to see the difference as I haven't found any Titans to be overly powered yet. Although I suppose when you stack one, it can become a problem. Cheers Tony-Good vids.

    I havent thought of using the salvo core like that. launching them straight up when they are using their "shield" like that. its just so op, I wouldn't want to do that except other tones.

    After playing nothing but Monarch for some time, I forgot that G2.0 will take it away from me.
    Bought tone for a couple credits and use him a lot now, he's pretty awesome.
