The three fame nucs in this video used to belong to me. At one time I also had three way nucs like Chris Werner. I didn't care for either of them because they were unforgiving. You have to be on time to collect queens or they blow up on you. For outfits that can stay on schedule they work fine and are easier to find a queen in. If I was focusing on queen production I believe I would use two way mediums. I've used them a little and they would be my choice if producing large numbers. We use five frame deep nuc boxes because of their flexibility. You can grow a nuc to completion for sales or overwinter them in our area.
The intricacies of beekeeping is more complicated then i thought. I learned a shit tonne new things, i never kept bees before yet. And that tea tree oil from my native country is a common name in the world.
Another great interview, Midwest beekeepers are being represented. Seems to be a hard working honest man. Thanks for the insight into the commercial side.
Ha Bob the video was great, glad to see u , and glad u are better. I checked Mannlake ithey are out of the holders tranfer grafting, stand hope u do more videos soon
You purchase honey to meet demand instead of adding more bees. What is the calculation of number of hives vs purchase honey? Meaning at what point does it pay to add more colonies or purchase bulk honey. Great video, this is such rare content.
I don't think I could come up with an equation for that. The deciding factor for me is that in our area it's hard to come up with the type of labor that could make more bees profitable.
Bob Binnie I hope to make great relationships in the Bee Business. Just like you one day. Great Video thanks again. Larvae Transfer Station out of stock Bob Binnie
Had no idea you guys were so close to High Springs, I might visit there or come over from Bear Creek to visit you in Neenah one of these days if I ever get the time.
Thank you Bob for another video. Each one is packed full of so much information in a short amount of time. Side note, I hope your shingles are getting better. I can’t imagine the pain you were enduring. Take care Bob......Lorie 😁🐝

I’m betting that shed came from Lake City.....maybe Newberry. Bob, we have a dealer close to you, too...in Franklin. He mainly has wood buildings, tho. People in your area tend to buy those more often than the metal sheds, for some reason. Anyway, love The videos. If you ever see a Handi House truck parked out front of your store, it’s just me picking up some supplies or something. Hope to see you soon.
That was a very cool video. I really thought it was going to be BOOOOORING. Nope its was great. Wish i was closer to you guys . Western canada is a little far to go for a weekender
hey bob....quick question.....im having a tough time banking queens. I banked 11 mated queens in a queen right double nuc with queen excluder ...I put roller cages with queens above the excluder in-between 2 frames of open brood....opened up today and all queens dead. Cant figure what im doing wrong?....and I guess you cant bank virgins too easily either....thank you sir!!!
It may be a virgin queen problem. I've never tried to bank virgins. I've generally had good luck with mated queens over an excluder although we usually try to use a queen-less unit for banking.
Bob will using water with high iron in it cause problems in your syrup ? Got one yard struggling thinking its the water im using in the syrup. Ever had problem like that ?

In your opinion is it better to do 3 frame singles like he does. Or do 3 way 10 framers like Chris. Or just do 5 framer?

@@bobbinnie9872 Thanks Bob. Do you sell the medium 2 ways?
@@bamabeesqueens We do not.
When you say a two way medium?
Would that be in a 10 frame box? with 4 frames on a side?
@@tomkingsley4398 I assumed it was a ten frame. Bob will have to be the one to answer for sure.
It was a real honor to spend a little time with John, Chris and family. Salt of the earth folks!
Commercial keepers seem so humble. I bet it’s because it’s a tough business and they get their share of hard knocks. Hats off to em
We used to do 14-16 days until your talk at the Hive Life conference. Thanks so much for the education.

I've not heard of a problem like that but it sure seems possible. Let me know if you figure it out.

Dumb question I guess...but how do you look at a capped super of honey and say...oh, that's basswood or this is sourwood!?
For me it's taste.
Great stuff
What kind of paint are they using to mark the queens?
"Testers" brand model paint.

Come visit us in Wisconsin. Either June or September for best weather.
Holy crap that shows you how much people respect your name if you owe a person a million dollars and they didn't care
Purchased a package from one of the popular places and installed it 14 days ago.... already supersedure cells...
