Scott Pilgrim vs the world by Bryan Lee O Malley and Edgar Wright are amazing film and comic graphic novel adapations. Michael Cera stars as the titular character as well as Chris Evans, Kieran Culkin, Marie Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson and a bunch of other stars. This 2010 movie is funny and hilairous so we did a full movie reaction

the context with knives is that the age of consent in canada is 16, it's not illegal for him to be " dating " knives but it's morally questionable and everyone around him knows he's only doing it because he's down tremendous
Also he's really just _pretending_ to date her because dating a 17 year old is "cool" for rockstars. They only held hands, they never even kissed. Knives isn't a victim because Scott's dating her, she's a victim because Scott is misleading her. Of course, pretending to date a 17 year old just to brag about it isn't exactly better than actually dating a 17 year old.
Not only is this getting an anime, but most of the original cast reprising their roles. Perfection. This is definitely one of Edgar Wright's best films. The music and editing is top notch, Brie Larson's cover of "Black Sheep" is phenomenal, and the cast is having a blast.
That's so cool.
I can't wait for it.

I still don’t fully understand why some people just flat-out hate this film. It is excellently made, Michael Cera is FANTASTIC, the music is incredible, the style is so over the top and perfect, and the comedy is TOP NOTCH.
Looks like another mid live action anime show tbh. One piece live action is gonna blow this out of the water though.🥱

It's cramming 7 graphic novels into a single movie. Tons of things were cut. Book/Show adaptations basically get stripped down to the bone to fit the runtime of a movie, which generally leads to a worse experience. The movie isn't bad, but it does get a lot of flak for just being an adaptation of a book from people who hate the principle

My favorite trivia about the movie is that the twins' actors didn't know any English so that's why their scenes are so short and they just summon some dragons to fight a gorilla ghost -- because in the actual comic they have actual things to do and are a little bit more important.
after all eahc book is basically abut scott fighting a member of the League, so they kinda HAVE to have a bigger role.
what's more in the comic the twins pretty much spell out how Ramona's an awful person who needs to face the fact that she's awful just like Scott.
Hope the twins play a large role in the anime!
The twins made robots in the comics but Edgar thought at the time robots were too cliche or overused so they made them into dragons

My favorite bit of trivia is that Envy's song wasn't written for the film. Metric, the band that inspired Envy in the comics, just had an unreleased single lying around whose lyrics perfectly match the movie.
I will say: the comic version of GIdeon is a much better villain. He's far more sadistic and insane and way more of a control freak, and there's a REASON he's the finalboss because he represents what scott will become if he never changes. He's a moral lesson about accountability and responsibility and getting out of your bubble to better yourself as a person....by showing what happens if you DON'T do those things.
The anime better do it justice where we see a fight of Scott fighting off Gideon's eldritch abomination form just like in the Scott pilgrim game!

The movie still holds up but the plot of the comics is so much better and i'm so glad it's finally getting a proper animated adaptation

I think that after Scott Pilgrim has been watched, it's only natural to watch Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy. Hot Fuzz specially is a gold mine of memes and comedy.

While loved this movie as a kid, the books blow it out of the water by a mile. The movie feels more in line with the classic video game premise of fight the bosses and win the girl; nothing wrong with it and it is a great film. But the books feel more like it talks about our past mistakes and facing them to better ourselves. Scott constantly forgets his mistakes and doesn't acknowledge them, Romona runs from her mistakes and refuses to acknowledge them. There's this little detail with their hair that symbolizing their characterization. Scott believes Envy Adams dumped him because of his haircut, so he has been cutting it himself the same way for years. Scott wants to maintain the status quo and do things that are simple because he's afraid of change. Romona dyes her hair a lot, but as you read the books, it progressively gets longer, until she cuts it shortly before leaving Scott after finding out Scott cheated on Knives with her. It's meant to symbolize Romona starting over and running once again. After all, you experience a lot when you let your hair grow out.
I really love these books. It felt like a coming of age story for those who already came of age. I know this seems like a weird place to have an analyst, but these books hold a special place in my heart.
The editor really got into prime Scott Pilgrim mode for this one

The movie stands up really well, and I actually like it more now then when I first saw it 13 years ago. There are so many little moments with the dialogue and effects to appreciate on repeat viewings. Plus, the story really is just the right amount of fun.

Yep, that's Scott Pilgrim for you. It's a shonen anime where nothing about this weird fictional world is explained. You're just expected to go along with all of it, the street fights, subspace, and people exploding into loonies and toonies. The only exception is when Todd explains that being vegan gives you psychic powers because 90% of the human brain is curds and whey. And surprisingly, it works.

Gonna be honest, i haven't watched too much spilling the milk since i subscribed back when the channel blew up. I do feel that how great Scott Pilgrim is carries a bit of the entertainment value for me, but this video does reminds me of why i subscribed, and a reason to stay subscribe.
