I'm in lesbians with this movie.
I really, really mean it.
I was just going to comment the same thing😅
This is the best reaction I’ve seen to this movie no contest
Huh?
Scott apologizing to Kim is legitimately my favorite part of this movie, the moment that shows Scott has finally grown.
You should read the graphic novel series. His growth is even more significant.
This movie is S Tier comedy😂😂😂
"A gig is a gig is a gig is a gig."
Universal's marketing department really failed this one. Opening day in my theater, there were maybe 30 or so people who showed up for it. I was psyched to have seen it on the big screen, but I certainly wish the box office had better luck.
Cheers from Windsor, Ontario!
Cheers!!
Indeed... back when they thought social media hype translated to real world hype. I love this film so, so much.
Is she Canadian?
@@holddowna i just noticed the "im more than pretty good, ESE" the last ESE comes from spanishm means "that one" its used by chicanos and mexicans in USA, in the phrase "ese man" like the chicano equivalent of "my man", clearly mexican reference and remarks that he's from the underworld lol
@@Timmayytoo What do you mean "back when they thought"???
They still think it translates to actual real world results.
Jesus, I had forgotten how hilarious Brie Larson and Brandon Routh were in this film. The whole Vegan Police moment is so great.
So here's the thing, Scott and Ramona are both terrible people. They could get better, but as they are, they are not good. In that sense, they completely deserve each other, because they hurt other people, but they honestly help each other not be awful.
Knives was just too good for Scott. I'm glad she told him to go after Ramona.
Every member of this cast says this is the most fun they've ever had shooting a movie.
Edgar Wright is awesome. I got him extremely high when he just randomly popped by my place in Long Beach.
Dude is A+ vibes.
There is an alternate ending where he ends up with knives. The director Edgar wright is just the best ever. The cast did love this movie so much when they made the comic show short time ago everyone came back for it even the bigger starts now.
Wow!
The alternate ending is on RUclips btw ;)
(edit a bit, you wrote "starts" you meant "stars") 😜
I ship Knives/NegaScott
That's probably because, as I understand it, in the comic he ends up with Knives.
I love how Nega Scott is the opposite of Scott. He's nice
In the ninja arcade game he got his butt kicked by the nega ninja
You missed the joke.
@@timmooney7528 Wtf does that have to do with anything
@@ThatSamoanGuy It was the final boss in the arcade game they played, which in turn made the Nega Scott appear to be a more ominous foe.
@@timmooney7528 Scott was using Knives to make him feel better about his life (Playing the game). But his real issues could only be handled by himself alone, which he tried to fight against but always failed (Fighting Nega Ninja). He accepts who he is, the good and the bad, and gains self-respect (Instead of fighting the parts of himself he doesn't like, he accepts Nega Scott as a part of him, and they become friends)
One of the most creative movies I've ever watched (and I've watched literally thousands). Edgar Wright is a bloody Genius, and this cast is non-stop excellence.
Cheers and Happy Canada Day Weekend, Y'all! 🥃☮❤🍁
Im from Hamilton Ontario a city about 30 minutes away from Toronto. I was 19 when this movie came out. I played in different bands in my teens and this movie captures the Toronto music scene so well! That 2010 era of indie punk rock. This movie has been in my top 10 since it came out.
"The Rockit - fun fact this place is a toilet" I used to work down the street from it, and... they weren't wrong :)
I’ve got to be honestly, out of everything I was expecting from this reaction, a Zidane 2006 World Cup head butt reference was not one of them hahahahahaha
But totally fair, we all still love him regardless. One of the most Iconic moments in football history
My comments so wild sometimes 😂😂😂😂
@@holddowna it was so so out the blue, I had to pause and rewind. Oh well new Ames lore just dropped I guess hahahaha 😂😂
Zidane headbutt is easily history's greatest headbutt.
The final of 2006 World Cup is legendary. :D
Hahah wild reference 😂😂
Them reading the script via zoom during lock down was such a fun time to watch. Most people came back and they had a ton of fun
You’re so close to 100K! It will be well deserved. Great reactions.
Thanks JODY!!!!! so thankful to have you here!
@@holddowna You should do a reaction to Lady Snowblood next, its absolute kino.
"Oh, he's still dreaming."
Nope, it's just daylight.
They mention it more in the comic but their place had no windows, so that's why he thinks it's 6 in the morning when it's later :) I think Ramona was even criticizing their place "girls like a place with light" "hey we have lights!" "no, NATURAL light!"
Scott pilgrim recently got an anime last year with the entire movie cast coming back on to voice act it if you’re interested
FUN FACT: The cast and crew all had such an absolute blast making this movie that they never dismantled the cast and crew email that they created. When Edgar Wright started making the anime, he went back on that email and messaged everyone just on the off chance that maybe one or two might want to play their characters again. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM chose to come back.
One of the best movies of all the time. Just pure greatness. Thank you for the reaction! Happy Canada day weekend y'all!
Thanks for hanging out!!!!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
The entire cast came back to voice their character for the animated Netflix show "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" (2023)
Yeah... uh... dunno why they named it Scott Pilgrim. It needed to be called "Scott sucks he's a boy we can't allow that that so get him out of here for Ramona Vs. Girl Bosses. Hollywood just can't stop shoving male characters to the side in the name of things that have zero to do with the art. I tuned in to get more Scott Pilgrim. I got way more modern Hollywood echo chamber nonsense.
@@scotter23that made no sense bruh
@@scotter23 The writer of the comic and movie did it as a personal project. "Hollywood" had nothing to do with it. I'm sure you'll still go on tantrums when shows have girls in them though.
@@dupersuper1938 Scott(er23) hasn't yet earned the power of self respect. That's endgame content.
@@scotter23 Are you fuckin' kidding me? Have you read the original graphic novel? It's woke as shit and that was made in like 2003. The new anime is completely in line with the original work, which shouldn't be a surprise since it was written by the same guy.
That coffee was actually really hot, and Chris Evans really burned his hand!!😂
This is my favorite reaction to this movie because you actually understood the references! Thanks for an entertaining reaction! You should check out the Scott Pilgrim cartoon next!
Fun reaction.
I never get sick of reactions to this awesome/unique movie.
Wallace is the best character in this film. But I love the whole thing.
Prolly cuz u made out with him too.
There is an alternative ending that can be seen. Scott leaves with Knyves. Thank you so much for this. Your reaction throughout to one of my top 10 feel good movies, was gold. You really brightened up this old mans day!
this movie is a masterpiece in editing. Edgar Wright really knows how to do these type of movies.
Great reaction to this movie!! I remember being a huge fan of it years ago when it first came out. I missed out on watching this in theaters but I watched right after it became available. :)
Had a number of smiles/laughs while watching, thank you for that! Appreciate the positivity.
Wow that was really cool! Another great watch along! So glad I found your channel!
Edgar Wright is a freaking editing genius, Hot Fuzz is my favorite comedy movie of all time, and also my favorite Edgar movie, Baby driver and Shaun of the Dead by him are also awesome movies.

Scott Pilgrim was named after a song by a band of teenage Canadian girls called Plumtree in 1997. His name isn’t said in the song’s lyrics-it came from the band confusing the names of two of their friends, Scott Ingram and Philip Pilgrim. That’s why Scott’s wearing a Plumtree shirt at the Rockit.
Stephen Stills and Young Neil are named after one half of the band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Kim Pine was created by Bryan Lee O’Malley (the comic’s author) in high school, and was first envisioned to be a X-man ripoff who could grow quills like a porcupine. He gave up the concept, but he liked her name. X,p
The idea for the storyline came from Bryan’s then-girlfriend telling him about several exes she had named Matthew, and Bryan wondering what if they formed some kind of union. He even planned to name Lucas “Matthew” as well, but decided one was enough in that case. He and that girlfriend were married for a decade, but then divorced. I hope he’s moved on alright.
Ramona Flowers *might* be named after the song that plays in her intro in the movie, “I heard Ramona Sing” by Frank Black, or possibly after “To Ramona” by Bob Dylan. Or maybe she just looked like a Ramona. ;3
I love how from the very beginning you knew you loved it. Alison Pill is also terrific in 'Midnight in Paris' as Zelda Fitzgerald. In a completely different direction, as a movie suggestion I'd say 'Amistad', an overlooked but excellent Steven Spielberg film.
I appreciate how many references and easter eggs you point out
Thank you for making this react so much fun. I loved watching you enjoy and laugh through out the movie
The maker wasn't Canadian.. Edgar Wright is British. He also made the Cornetto trilogy.. Plus the excellent pop culture UK series Spaced..
Yeah, Edgar Wright is amazing. He is an expert on using visual cues to tell a story and evoke the emotion that is so hard to tell in a cinematic setting. You need to watch this movie a second time, once you know the story , it is easier to see things that are easily overlooked. For instance, Ramona's disdain for musicians when Scott says he is in a band. The movie has zero filler and every scene was done to perfection.
Bryan Lee O’Malley is Canadian. He wrote the comics and the story
@@mishmash3927 I was talking about the film adaptation.
There has never been another movie quite like this one. The transitions in this movie alone are next level (pun intended), but then you have a cast that made the expendables casting director jealous.
I've seen probably every reaction to this, and you're the only reactor who caught that Ramona was being controlled before that's revealed.
Fun fact: the band is actually playing. Michael Cera knew how to play bass, but the others didn't know their instruments....so in addition to the acting, they also had to become decent enough musicians to be convincing, and do so very quickly (they only had a few weeks).
I never seen this movie before either but it was lots of fun to watch it with you!!! Thanks for reacting to Scott Pilgrim!!!
The song that Envy sang is an actual song. They went with the song because it went well with the scene. 😊 and Tod was played by Brandon Routh.
I'm not a scientist, but I'm pretty sure he did the rail thingy faster than the terminal velocity of a human.
You're right. Terminal velocity in a full standing position would have been about 200 kph, while a streamlined head-forward position could reach around up to 290 kph. Neither is enough to allow the 309 kph reached here before crashing.
Glad you loved it. It is one of my all time favorites.
The girl playing Romona’s female ex also played Anne in Arrested Development who was Michael Cera’s character’s girlfriend in that show.
Her?
She's also Katara which is also hilarious to hear her sometimes in Avatar
Egg?
@@MrBiggles53 "It's as Ann as the nose on Plain's face."
George Michael, why don’t you and Plant go wait in the stair car?
Impressed with the Zedane reference. Really enjoyed the reaction to one of the best movies every made :D
Check out Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, it's an excellent companion piece to the film and the whole cast returned for it!
Agreed, though it's even better if you've also read the graphic novel. The graphic novel is like half the story and the anime is the other half. Characters that lack development in one get it in the other.
One of my all time favourites.
'Fun?..in Toronto?'.
Loved how much you loved this
27:34 That is Christopher Lambert. lol He DID play Raiden in the 90's 'Mortal Kombat' movie. You totally called it. I barely caught it. Well done.
That’s actually Thomas Jane, not Chris Lambert.
Such a fun reaction to watch. Thanks. This is one of the few movies I've watched more than once during its release and the cinema was almost empty both times.
“Nintendo no frendo” when I was writing for GW we called it “Johnny NoMates”.
Haha that was my nickname in highschool cause the boys could never beat me at games lol
One of my favorite movies of all time. Glad you enjoyed it too.
I got a free movie screening pass at work for this movie. I had no idea what it was, but a friend and I were bored so we went. Once the comic book style and nerd references starting popping up, I was so excited, but then when the first evil ex fight happens, my brain was just melting from the overload of craziness. I've never been so pleasantly surprised by a movie before! I'm glad you liked it and you're definitely not the only one who slept on it!
NGL when you first showed up on my recommendations, I thought Aubrey Plaza had started a reaction channel. 🤣
GREAT REACTION! 👍☺ i think you laughed through this whole movie 😂 it was a delight to see! 😁
The cast for this movie is great,...and these people by and large really weren't well known when this came out.
The Aubrey Pazza joke was funny haha
Evy's song was by a band called Metric. Mar-Vel did a great job singing it. As did everyone in this film.
@22:48 my dad used to always say "if the phone starts greening and greening, you should just pink it up and say yellow"
In the original ending he DID get together with Knives at the end. It was changed before release.
This is me every time i Watch it😂😂😂😂😂. I love it so damn much . Also that Zidan reference bravo 😂
Probably one of those movies that's top 5 for all the coolest people to know.
Super fun reaction to this ... super fun movie with it's .... er... super fun edits.... and super fun motion graphics. Thanks.
This was the best birthday present I've ever gotten. Came out the day before my birthday. I listened to the cover of Black Sheep every day for months after it came out.
The fights do happen😂.
amazing reaction... maybe the cutest one i've seen in awhile.
I found that a lot of my reaction channels i frequent are either IN Canada, or from Canada. Jen Murray, Popcorn in Bed, CineBinge, but getting to see Canadians react to a movie from there is so fun. You get to recognize those little details they put in for you all. If you haven't you should react to Strange Brew with the McKenzie brothers. Saw that one way back on HBO in the 80s as a kid. My brother and I loved it so much LOL!! BTW, I was in Pennsylvania and they were selling LeBatt, so I grabbed some.
This was special! I had no idea what this movie was about so from the universal logo at the beginning to set in Toronto I knew it would be fun!
My favorite movie of all time. Make friends to share life with and weather the storm with. Love and respect yourself and others. Life is worth fighting for.
One of my favorite movies and I love the soundtrack.
Oh dang one of my favourite reactors watching one of my favourite movies let's goooooo
LFG!!!! 😂
Jason schwarzman has a cool band too. He came out for a song at a Phoenix concert at the Fonda in 2018 😁 good times
34:16 you are right that felt like a “Sabotage” moment
You are my favorite RUclipsr!
Joe your so sweet!!! I love doing this !!!
I don't remember a good chunk of this, so I am going to guess that an uncut version came out? When I saw it on release in the theaters there was not any of the Ramona subspace travel sequences, so this is pretty trippy. Guess I need to watch it again!
It's good to see you laugh. And take a break From the heartbreak of War.
I love this film. Really enjoyed your reaction to it, you have a great laugh! :)
Thank you so much 😁 thanks for hanging out !!!
You :"I'm Aybrey Plaza"
Me: yes 😊
34:40 the way that was edited was hilarious
There was an alternate ending where Scott ends up with Knives instead. Adds real development to his character.
The Talented Mr Ripley, Sexy Beast, Shadow of the Vampire - all brilliant flix for future reaction consideration.
Seeing how you enjoyed this movie, you should for sure check out more of Edgar Wrights catalog of movies. He is a genius director. There is a great youtube video called "Edgar Wright - how to do visual comedy" that is also well worth watching. This shows how truly talented and creative his style of directing is.
Every shirt Scott Pilgrim wears is a shirt Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins has worn in their music videos.
You're going to love The Fall Guy if you love split screen shots in movies. There's another great one in that movie too. The rest of the movie is fantastic as well.
love to finally see another Canadian get all those references too
They saw Ramona Flowers, and felt so empowered...
Knives is on another level, it's for the best that didn't end up together
In an alternate ending, they did.
Hands down one of my favorite movies of all time ever.
It's funny. I was searching your channel for this movie. Now I see why I couldn't find it. You haven't seen it yet. I envy any/everyone who sees this for the first time.
I guess I'll have to subscribe to your Patreon for just this reaction.
This is one of my top 3 movies of all time. I don't care if no one gets the references but I still use them... my favourite is "I know of it/them"
Also if you get your hands on the DVD/Bluray it has 4 commentary tracks and they're all amazing.
frivolous and at the same time very serious movie. a lot of people didn't like it at the time, maybe just because they didn't understand it?? in any case, this is the movie that made me a forever winstead fan! i don't care that she didn't become a super star, as i expected!.. ❤❤❤
Break-up stories!!
I don't have many, but man are they powerfully ... unique! Jajaja
Yussss. No one has done a review for this
the big thing with this story is that Scott and Ramona both deal with their own crap. The manga reveals a lot about Scott, but scraps of it still survive here. Ramona makes tiny confessions throughout this. She's at the tail end of her growth, having dealt with the folly of all her ex-relationships except Gideon, albeit still with some flaws. She tells Scott how she wants to change now. But Scott is pretty oblivious at the outset, he starts to recognize his faults throughout and at the end. That's why he wants to try again, because he thinks they can make it work this time.
Your Mortal Kombat theme got me, haha.
😂😂😂😂
Ok, now that you saw the movie, you HAVE to watch the animated series, it's (sadly) really short, but it overflows awesomeness!
The guy who wrote/drew the comix also worked on the project, and the the artwork for Ramone BF stories. Edgar Wright, from the Cornetto trilogy, worked on this. Fun fact - the movie WAS filmed in Toronto. The winter scenes were in the summer.. so fake snow 😉
Some of the cast came back and did a reunion table read, it's on youtube
Saw this at the movies!
What's more fun than watching this movie? Watching the enjoyment of this awesome host as she watches it for the first time!
I'm no fan of Toronto (my roots are Vancouver Island) and the winter scenes always make me shiver with the memory of the couple of years I survived in London, Ontario. I'm also no longer vegan and I live in a much sunnier climate now but I absolutely love all the Canadianisms in this film, and still wear the same kind of button down shirts as 'Stephen Stills'. Awesome movie, awesome channel and an awesome host. Greetings from Northern Spain.

@@holddowna Westcoast best Coast -says the Best Host! 😀
Super impressed you knew the Konami code by heart.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. It is so creative. It's a shame it wasn't a bigger hit in theatres but it gained quite a cult following since then, and rightly so.
Totally! It’s so fun and creative like u said!
Basically a masterpiece movie that i haven't really seen done again
